The haunted mansion staring Eddie Murphy is a guilty pleasure of mine , it's one of my favorite halloween movies made by Disney up right up there with halloweentown, the nightmare before christmas, and hocus pocus 1 and 2
Disney horror is all beautiful atmosphere, and captures the true essence of Halloween and the spooky season. Not gore and slasher serial killers but the unknown, the places being alive and unnatural.
Fun fact! The chair that Treasure Jack sits on in Walt Disney World's Pirates of the Caribbean is from the 2003 movie! I believe there's also one in Disneyland's but I don't go often enough to confirm that. So at least one of the chairs, if not two, survived. One is also featured in the wedding photos of Constance and Reginald from the 2006 refurb.
Wanna know the bizarre thing about that one album? The Barenaked Ladies also had a song in the Digimon Movie. So, yes. You can tie the Haunted Mansion to Digimon. I have no idea what to think of that.

I remember when the Haunted Mansion movie originally released in theaters and having the camera toy from McDonald’s! I still watch it every Halloween- if only for my girl Jennifer Tilly. (Come ON, it’s Chucky’s murderous girlfriend playing Madame Leota, what’s not to love? She was TERRIFYING when I was a kid!!!) The Mansion set itself was a work of art, it looked real and the crew did an awesome job populating it with Mona May’s costumes and Rick Baker’s zombies. I’m glad it’s getting a reboot because I’d like to see MORE mansions- perhaps we will even get a Phantom Manor movie one day?
Not just hm, potc black pearls dvd had a similar extras including the computer part. And I highly recommend getting everything on physical media. Makes me think it almost might be worth it to have a functional 2000 to 2009 era computer with physical optical drive and windows 98 on it. Or a Mac of the same years. Not just movies. And there are some attempts by nerds online to get flash games functional again for archival reasons. Would be worth it for say the Disney villains PC game, the Micky paint program, and other rare gems like that .
Ah, this was a great video! I myself wasn't fond of Haunted Mansion's attraction for a long time until I saw this movie on DVD and watched the DVD features so many times. I loved the behind the scenes features of the movie. How well done and care the scenes were made. The effects, the costumes, and how the film itself got me into the history of the attraction itself and enjoying it now! It is a fun guilty pleasure for me. At the same I also find it underrated and love watching it around halloween. Cause why now! its a good film to watch for the spooky season!!
I think the thing about Elizabeth's connection with Jim Evers' wife was too much of a spoiler to go too deep in promotion of the film. Which is actually supportin your point about her screen time.
You should talk about The Haunted Mansion Video Game that was released alongside the film, but storywise has nothing to do with it at all (Minus a few things here and there like the Mosylium). It's actually more like the Ride than the actual film

I think the 2003 movie while I still despise it I understand that there was some passion put into it. I see why some people look back on for nostalgia but if you are die hard Haunted Mansion fan it may or may not leave you satisfied. I'm still very very excited for new film cause it looks like it'll be very faithful to the attraction and I hope it gives some good scares.
I always love the behind the sense on dvd. Especially on this dvd. I live Eddie M in this i could believe ge said ass a few times in this. And i remember my dad saying bc he is Eddie Disney let like get away with it lol..But i love this movie..
I love the 2003 HM film. I’m not sure why everyone hates it. To me it’s ornate and creepy. Touches on some real stuff. Has Jennifer Tilly in it. Also being black and seeing a black family on screen similar to my own was really cool as a kid.
They don't like the comedy of Eddy Murphy unfortunately. I do want a serious Haunted Mansion movie (something set during the cival war time period when everyone is gone, empty, and the long misty autumns they had at the time, not to mention the bizzare happenings in Salem at the time. But anyway, a cival war era lost man enters a stately home in the middle of a large field and swamp.) But I love the charm of the 2003 and that family in it is so watchable, love each characters thing like Megan and Michael and the parents.
I have pic Elizabeth hanging in my bathroom alone with the other ladies..Such as tight tope walker the old lady sitting on the tomb stone. Also the miss apirl through dec. They hanging in my bathroom..
Thank you for this video, even if this movie didn’t perform very well I always like it for what it was, I never saw the negative because it was😢going to be an Oscar worthy film, and this new one is getting a lot of mixed reactions, but I bet I’ll end up loving this too. In time it always becomes a cult classic, now thanks to streaming people can watch it more, anyways love your content thank you 😊

Oh yes, DVD special features are so fun. Some of my favorites were on the first two Harry Potter movie dvds.

2003 is definitely kid kid friendly. The new 2023 was just thrills and shrills. I liked it though. Very different with especially the big bad.
