    I found that my Panasonic 13 year old plasma TV takes a lot of current when switched off by its power button. If I switch off at the wall, does it harm any of the possible TV's self diagnostic routines? I know that OLED TVs need to self-repair when switched off after a period of use.

    • @VictorPoulin
      @VictorPoulin  Год назад

      I don't believe it will harm anything at all. It will simply take a few seconds longer at startup if shut off at the plug. I currently have 2 of the same tv's you speak of and you are correct.

  • @bmilhoan

    Hi there. My PN51D6500DF clicks on but turns of about 10 seconds in. Doesn’t finish the startup sequence. A couple websites blamed a bad remote but I took the batteries out of all of them. I did the “soft reset” by unplugging for 30 seconds (and more) and it still does it. Do you think this is the power board like yours?

    Hi Victor, I have a 2009 Samsung PN58B650 Plasma TV and I seem to have a similar problem but not as serious. Usually, sometime within 2 to 4 hours of the TV being on, the power seems to glitch off for a second or two then come back on. It rarely happens more than once a night and sometimes not even that often. My guess is that my power board is in the early stages of going bad. Not serious enough to pull it down from the wall (this is a very heavy TV), but maybe soon. Based on your experience, do you think this is a correct diagnosis? I have an 50 inch Samsung plasma TV, from 2008. It powers on, I got the image for 2 seconds then off. Then on again, image for 2 sec and off. It has a HUGE power board int he middle where mains voltage gets in, and 2 big other power boards that are powering the X and Y screen strips, one big board for each strip. If I unplug either of those from the main power board, the issue goes away, but obviously I get nothing on the screen. Which board has the fault? And is there a way to fix it? Omg thanks. This is exactly my issue with my Panasonic Plasma. This whole time I thought it was my receiver cutting in and out. My receiver still has issues but it’s not the cause of the tv clicking on and off. My Yamaha receiver cuts out as well but doesn’t come back on. It cuts off when there is a lot of bass, and I attribute that to a new SVS sub drawing a lot of power. What could be the issue there?

When everything is connected and I unplug 1 from 2, I can't start the TV, because the on/off switch and IR receiver goes to 2. So 2 must be always connected to 1 to check anything. When I disconnect 1 from the rail on the right, no picture (and no sound i think) and restart. When additionally unplug 3 from 2, no picture (but I can hear menu sounds) - restart. Now when connect right rail to 1, TV restarts after 20 s
      but it gives weird signals by the red standby dot on the front - 3-4 series of 3 quick blinks. Now when I detach power cable at the top of no. 4, also restart. I don't know what combination should I try??? Edit. When everything is connected and I only detach upper power cable (I think it's power, not data cable) from no. 4 (second power board) TV after few seconds gives this weird series of 3 quick blinks (but there's no picture nor sound).

    Have similar tv, and it shuts off after 5-10 seconds with click sound, and it has no backlight. Any ideas?
    Btw same thing happened, it was working fine until we took it off the wall and brought it in another house lol

      Sounds like the power board my friend. Try tightening all the ground screws first and give it a test. If it still does not work buy a replacement power board but make sure it is returnable just in case it happened to be something different. Many are on Ebay and check the sellers feedback as well.
