I just got one of these off the side of the road and took the back panel off and dusted the fans and the vents and it's working 100% thanks to your video for informing me that the overheating was a possibility. Cheers!
My 50px80u turns off after a few minutes (longer if the room is cold, sooner if the room is warm) then blinks the 2 code (15V SOS). Is there a repair procedure? I removed the 15V power connector to the A board and the blink code changed to (I think it was 13 blinks). I resoldered over a dozen connectors but that made no difference. Thanks.
Dude. I almost replaced the power board. It's the third one that I've fixed, others had bad caps. TV has been powered for about 45 min now, before it wouldn't stay on past 10 min. The other Panasonic has cooling fans at the top, but this model doesn't. I think that's the problem. I may add a computer fan just to be safe. Thanks a million!!!!
alright! it was 2 hours on and no problems! but.... i turned it off to see if it would turn back on, and now i get sound but no picture!!! no too sure what to do next, i may end up resolderingthe other boards and see if it helps. Would you have any suggestions? my first guess is the y sust board. going to resolder that one and hopefully it works. I have lights on both x and y sust. I've been poking at this tv for about a year and this is the first time ive had limited success. a big thank you.

Question for u, I have Panasonic TH-50PX60U Plasma TV. It has no picture but the sound is fine, the red led on power button is solid red. Do you think my Y-sustain board went bad? Thanks ahead of time.....

Hi mine is a 65 inch Panasonic plasma TV 2009 and my TV was doing blinking lights so I held the power button and then let go and then turn it back on. I don’t know why it was doing so many blinking lights anyways my TV still works today. But I don’t know why it does that sometimes whenever I want to turn on the TV it does blinking lights. Could it be something with overheating? I don’t know. I cleaned the fans with my Dyson DC 33 vacuum I clean it really well it’s really expensive. I paid over $2000 for 2009 expensive actually it was on sale. It was gone for almost $3000 so I got a good deal at Best Buyin Phoenix, Arizona if you know these TVs are very expensive at those times
I have a Panasonic TH-42PX600U and it just shut off while operating. I suspected the Power supply panel and the two fuses on the bottom are bad. However I am concerned that when I replace them they will blow. If that happens what are the possibilities of the problem?
Hi I have a Panasonic TC-P46G10 and while watching it I heard a pop and 5 blinking lights. I took it to the repair shop and they tech said it was a bad Y board that would cost $400 for repairs. I picked it up without repairing it hoping to repair it myself. How do I know where the Y board is since it's not the main? I believe the Y board is on the left side.
+AZ LS First of all, whatever the problem is, it is insane that a repair man wants to charge as much as $400 for a 46," which is what it costs brand new these days, so you should definitely not go for that. Also, 5 blinks in this model does not lead to the Y board, but the A board or mainboard. However, the "pop" that you mentioned is strange for the A board. Can you still hear that "pop" you talked about if you try to turn on the TV?
Thanks for the reply. I only had that pop when the TV went dead the first time. When I plug the TV in now I only see the blinks and the TV does not power up at all.
www.brainchamber.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/2010-12-10_112651_untitled_-_1.jpg 5 blinking lights indicates a problem on the 5V circucit, you might have bad capacitors on the power supply, if you do you can replace them yourself, if you're VERY careful, google about that to see the procedures.
There are a few things that can be at play if your plasma is shutting off randomly. First, it could be what is called a "cold solder" which basically means a component or components within a certain board needs to be re-soldered. Also, it could be an overheating problem, or a bad capacitor(s) or transistor(s). The first thing you can do is check the soldering around the power board and Y sustain board, which is usually the board located to the left of the power board and is connected to the "buffer boards"
Got the same problem, about to tackle it on my 42PX60B model. PSU board is bad design. Heavy and hot components on a single sided circuit board is a bad idea. Solder joints on a double sided plated through hole board are far more reliable.
TH-50PX60U panasonic plasma made in 2006 is not powering on. i hear 2 fast clicks. it feels like wanting to start but after 2 or 3 seconds it shuts down. red led on power button blinks 5 times. what board will be the problem and how can i test for voltage to confirm the board issue. thanks!!
my tv, which is just like this one will not turn off. The screen turns very dull, almost black but the red light stays on. At this point there is no picture or sound. I think it is the remote because both panasonic tv's does the same thing. They are just alike.
I have a 40inch Panasonic TC-040AS520U that does the same thing.. It turns on and flashes the boot up message , then the message that It needs a video signal and then it shuts down. If I hit the power button, it wont turn on, but If I unplug it and turn it on... It does the same thing. I know its not a Capacitor that controls the back light on the main board its definitely something else. Ill definitely try that
I have a 50 inch Panasonic plasma 1080p television. Recently the television turns off then immediately turns back on. If I am watching a movie it will occur about every 20 minutes. Can you tell me what the problem is and how to repair it.
Yep, mine too. I was thinking it might be a heat issue but looking for another cause if anyone knows. All the caps look good and I don't want to start taking the boards off and testing things for a short lived issue.
Is the front red led blinking once the set turns itself off? If so you can look up the link code. 50px80u turns off after a few minutes then blinks 2 (3 second pause between blink sets) repetedly. Manual says 15V SOS, unplugging the A board change it to I think 13 blinks, not sure what the next diagnosis step is. Here's the blink code sheet www.brainchamber.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/2010-12-10_112651_untitled_-_1.jpg
The television I worked on had several problems, one of the chips had two pins soldered together, that should have been separate. Really crappy quality soldering in more than one place.
I have a 65 inch viera that turns off exactly 4.5 minutes and goes to 11 blink code. Changed fans and power board and main board. Any body else experience this issue before? At this point I just want to stay on.
Incorrect, there are only 1,474 solder joints on the PS board, the ones to resolder are the big solder joints, any heavy current load joints such as filter caps, transformers, diodes, etc

i have a 42" Panasonic Viera Plasma tv. it will work fine then randomly has green in the picture. always different parts. somewhat like white noise but its green. more noticeable on cartoons
+Matthew Moncrieff Hi, it sounds like you may have a bad logic board or main board. However, I would start by making sure that all the tabs or connectors are not causing this problem. What you can start doing is unplug the tabs or connectors that go into the main board and logic board and clean them. Then plug them back to see if that fixes the problem. If that does not fix the problem, then the logic board could be the problem or also the main board. In some cases, the plasma panel may be defective as well.

Ok today I watch this videos because I got the red blinker code on my tv. I had the window open, fan blowing behind for the hearing up problem it rained I see a lil water. I'm like ok it has to sit for a few days. Nope still blinking red. Just 30 sec ago I turn it back on look at the back fans are not working. I unplugged. got a wire hanger spin one fan. Fan started moving. Unplugged again. I do the other 3 fans. tv. Fully back on so... um... do your chores fully kids. thank you do you time.
I was resoldering 2 days this garbage tv for nothing, voltages are ok, fans ok, transistors caps ok . Its turn itself off after a couple of seconds and red light blink once .
I'm not a professional electrician and, therefore, there's no way I would take a chance on unscrewing back of tv and, moreover, following your instructions, after doing so.

when you resolder, do you have to remove the existing solder, or just reheat it?

Every few years you should go around the boards and tighten the screws. The heating/cooling causes them to back off.
