I find the Mercedes self-driving concept totally believable.
What's way too far fetched is a spotlessly clean and orderly city with universally polite citizens.
Perhaps the next step in technology is to invent well behaved people.

I love Mercedes, especially the older ones, because they're more reliable, fun to drive and whitout too much electronics.
There's certainly something special about the golden oldies. 🥰
I believe the technology for the cars is there but the redesign and layout of cities is what's worrying me. That's going to take a very long time.

A very nice concept for a perfect world, where everybody's rich enough to own one of these and everything "just works".
So, nice for Germany (esp. the north), but I'm sceptical that the rest of the world will be so ideal in 10 or 20 years.

I am so ready for this innovation that I've already begun saving for my purchase. I've always felt unsafe in cars. So unsafe that I will not get in one with no less than 2 other people. 1 person watching the front, 1 person watching the rear (me) and someone looking both ways to watch the sides because other drivers are very easily distracted!! No one is watching the road like they should and people have become so cavalier with their lives when behind the wheel. I cannot wait for self-driving cars to be the norm and will be 1st in line to buy!

Hi Bobak, as you said the F 015 is a project car and the idea for it is that it can be driven both autonomously or physically by a driver. In the case of autonomous driving, it has a 360 degree control of the environment so it can brake automatically and also communicate with pedestrians on its way. However, for the full development of this kind of systems we need more time and we'll be ready when the right moment comes. For now, with the implementation of the Intelligent Drive on models like the S-Class, assisted driving is becoming highly advanced and provides extra safety and comfort. Thank you!
Just imagine if that thing wrecked or someone rear ends or hits you elsewhere. The repair bill for all those computer innards and body will be sky high.
