    Nice video - but there is one correction. You must set the Base (Canvas) resolution to the resolution of the monitor you want to capture. For example if you are capturing a screen that is 1440p, you set it to 2560x1440. Then you set the Output (Scaled) resolution to 1080p. That way OBS scales the image down so that it can be captured on the HD60S at 1080p.
    If you set the Base (Canvas) resolution to 1080p, the screen will be captured - however it will cut off the bottom/right of the screen, which is not what you want.

    This is amazing. I'm moving from a PS4, to getting a PC with a 1440p 144hz monitor very soon. I always used the Elgato HD60s to record my ps4 gameplay, and want to continue using the elgato hd60s, but still game at 144hz on a 1440p monitor. I can't wait to try all out of the steps mentioned in this video; this is literally perfect (plus the explanation regarding warzone is incredibly helpful). Thank you so much!!

    Hear me out, I found a super easy solution for a dual pc setup, im guessing the single pc works also. After you properly connect elgato as was shown in the video, go to duplicate these displays and your monitor will change to 1080p, then just change the monitors resolution to 1440p or whatever you want and the streaming pc will get a 1080p signal from elgato but you will have your desired resolution on your monitor. If I didnt explain it well let me know Im down to help.

    Hey man, your video was super informative and helped out alot. After my research I noticed that there is basically two different ways one can set up a dual PC stream, one is where you clone your gaming monitor with your elgato, and the other is having your screen sent to elgato and then displayed on your streaming PC with obs, which requires OBS open on both PCs. I notice the people that use the clone method also have a 1080p monitor so the cloning goes smoothly. However I have a 1440p monitor and when I clone with elgato, it allows me to change my monitor back to 1440p, but it changes the in game resolution to 1080 with no option to up the resolution. So basically my question is, with my current setup using HD60 pro and 1440p dual PC setup. Is this method you show in your video the only way to achieve playing at 1440p while being able to stream and record at 1080p? I would like to not have OBS open on both systems just to be able to Stream if possible. Sorry to ramble. Just been trying to get my setup straight. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 👍

    • @Amedeo602
      @Amedeo602  3 года назад +1

      Hey, thanks for the comment. The HD60 S only supports up to 1080p, and that’s why mirroring won’t work. The work around is to use OBS to output 1080p. You’d need a capture card that supports 1440p to avoid OBS.

    I have a gaming PC, an iMac that I wanna use for streaming and the elgato HD60S+.
    I set everything as explained in the video, but, when I go to capture from Elgato, everytime I run Warzone, the iMac switch signal and starts to stream the second monitor without applications.

    • @Amedeo602

I have a laptop that is a few years old, but was decent at the time. Does Elgato do list of the work? i actually randomly saw this video by checking on some warzone stuff. I have a dual pc setup with an elgato aswell. what i did is actually just cloning my main screen onto the capture card instead of using obs. what do you think has a bigger impact on my fps? having obs running in the backround or cloning the signal? sound doesnt matter since i have an audio interface to connect both pc sounds

    • @Amedeo602
      @Amedeo602  3 года назад

      I would expect cloning to have less of an impact on your FPS. The goal of this video is to provide a workaround in case you can’t clone.
      For example when you want to play in 1440p but cannot clone because your capture card does not support 1440p.

But I want to upgrade, to 1440p120 or 144hz so I can game harder. But, scaling this down in a one pc setup as you explained. Would this cause any lag or jitter when exporting in premiere pro and then finally uploading to RUclips? I make cinematic content so want to make sure it’s doable before it. If not I will just get 2160p60 😀 thanks dude

    I don't know if you're still replying to comments on here but I have a few questions. I have been trying for 3 days to get my dual PC setup. (Gaming PC 3080, Gaming Laptop/Streaming PC 1070). Dude, I cannot, for the life of me, get my audio setup with Voicemeter Banana. I'm close to just dropping $500 on a GO XLR/Monocaster to just skip the virtual cabling altogether. Do you happen to have a video on that?
    Also, one more thing, I have an El Gato Wave 3 I use for my mic now for my gaming PC. Will I have to use a secondary mic for the stream? Like, one to talk to chat & another to talk in game? Not a huge deal if so, just curious as to how tf I do this.
    If I got to drop money, it is what it is, I was going to do it anyway in the fall. But if I can save some money first, thats what I am gonna do.
    Regardless, thank you for the informative video & help

      I don’t have a setup video on voicemeeter, but there are some out there. I’d recommend using VBAN and static IP addresses for the gaming and streaming PCs. If you don’t use vban you’ll have a noticeable delay in Your audio (about half a second). Basically you want to set up virtual output channels on the gaming pc to transmit via vban. Then on the streaming pc you need one virtual input per channel that gets sent to obs. If you want to separate voice chat from game chat you’ll need 2 virtual channels, otherwise 1 will work.
      As for the mic issue, it’s really up to you. I recommend having two mics so you can mute one and not the other as needed. You could probably also use voicemeeter to send a separate channel from the gaming pc as an input to the streaming pc, but I’ve never tried it so YMMV.

    • @Amedeo602
      @Amedeo602  Год назад +1

      Voicemeeter setup gaming pc:
      Using 3 virtual channels, A1, A2, and A3. A1 outputs to your gaming headset and combines game audio and voice chat. A2 and A3 are for game audio and voice audio. A2 and A3 need to be sent via VBAN.
      Voicemeeter setup streaming pc:
      Use VBAN to capture streams A2 and A3 from the gaming pc as inputs B2 and B3. Add audio sources for B2 and B3 to OBS studio.
      Hope this helps! Let me know if you have questions.

      Oh for sure. That’s the end goal. But for example, when I first got a 1440p monitor I couldn’t use the second pc because the capture card only supported 1080p. This is meant to be an intermediate step to offload as much work as possible to the second pc.

    Recently moved to a 1440p 180hz monitor and it causes issues when cloning, primarily with some games detecting the capture cards resolution rather than your main monitor no matter what combination of screen cloning you do, through windows or the nvidia control panel it really doesn't matter. Some games also go on the capture cards refreshrate too, Sea of Thieves had this issue for a long time and still struggles with it so it'll artificially lock your FPS at certain refreshrates while cloning despite vsync's being off/on/any combination.

      When you’re running obs there will be a small performance hit. That’s just the way it is 😞
      I’m not sure what you mean by “streaming obs screen is black”. You only need to run obs on the gaming pc.

      Oh hey, quick correction. You CAN run obs on the streaming pc, but you could also run elgato’s capture software too. Sorry for the confusion there!
      As a troubleshooting step you can also plug the output from the gaming pc into a mo it or to see if that works. (In other words, bypass the Elgato)
