    I started therapy 4 days after surgery in icu , in hospital some rehab, than I went to a rehab hospital and therapy was twice a day , every other day. Home health was twice a week for a month, that’s outpatient physical therapy. Wore a Velcro brace , stil wear it out at 5 months, walking without help, can take care of my hygiene now. It’s a very hard recovery even with help, I had a great deal of pain, and a 17 inch scare to boot. Still some discomfort where a lot a work was done, but I so happy with the results, I had a deformation of my spine and now I’m strong and I’m not outdo breath.

    I had vertebiplasty on L1. Not drammatic trauma I beleive, but understaning what to do from now on is still a question for me without an answer. I know that I have to take care about the muscles around my back and my stomach, but my doc told me to avoid sports and that he can't make me a new one, so this made me feel super insecured and down..

    Having a Micro-discectomy tomorrow morning. Surgeon said it is the most non-invasive procedure,with only a 1 inch incision. They don't touch the spine itself but rather go in under a microscope with a flexible tube and suck out the herniated disc material. It's a same-day surgical procedure. I've been unable to walk without excruciating pain so must have it done if I'm to have any kind of a normal life. On the other hand a dear life-long friend had his 5th major spine surgery-on his way to 6th. Failed fusions and more. Totally disabled at 60:-(

      @@88siddharthchopra hi! It’s going to be three years in March and I have been doing good. I lost all my weight and started running too the year I had MD. But then piled it all back by mindless eating and stopped my back strengthening exercises too. I shouldn’t have. So have little lower backache on and off when I sit for long. But otherwise I am doing well.

    Goodness. For me physiotherapy began the day after my complicated two level surgery. I never felt good about it then and six weeks later I am struggling and still on pain meds :(

    Hi! Can we do pushups, bridging and croaling after lumber fixtion??

    • @Laura-pl7qs
      @Laura-pl7qs 6 лет назад

      saba ali I don't recommend bridging as it could potentially weaken or arch the rods. But my physio therapist gave me push ups as an exercise so yeah, I'd say just don't do bridging.

    Im 69 years young, had spine surgery to eliminate my kyphosis, I have a 17 3/4 incision, my whole back in other words, I had Pt a month before me surgery and after I had PT and Ot in rehab. Now at home I’m still receiving therapy at home,. No one can tell me what my exact limitation will ne in the months to come. It caught. I’ve had moderate to severe. Pain since then. Working with my new back is trickie. I use muscle relaxer to ease my workout so I can do more. Hopefully I will improve .

    I am facing a 3- level cervical laminectomy. My surgeon did not recommend a fusion. I am 57 and live alone, I am wondering for how long will I need a CNA/ provider? When will I be able to vacum, scrub out the tub, carry groceries?

  • @jlowe7710

    Discectomy, lamenectomy, 7 months later still in pain, can't move freely without pain, leg cramps, back spasms, Dr. said fusion is not an option due to disk damage L-3 L-4, L-4 L-5, L-5 S-1, three fusion points, what's the next step? Take the surgery and lose mobility and still have pain? Or just live with the pain?

    • @zauriel60

      Get the fusion, with full discectomy, laminectomy with instrumentation (titanium rods and screws, plus graphs/cages).
