Oh mr. You saved my life I had surgery 10 weeks ago Today you show me a lot of movements that i didn't know. I had sclerosis surgery and fusion . Thanks
I found this very informative, And I can clearly feel all. I had PIVD L5S1surgery 45 days back, No one teach me like you. They give me very brief instructions. But your efforts are extraordinary. Thanks a lot!
Excellent idea. I've had 2 spinal fusions & that was recommended. I also use cotton sateen sheets ( silk satin is good too ) which makes it so much easier to slide getting in or out of bed & also making it easier to find a comfortable spot in bed. The object is to slide not jerk.
I've been getting into the car this way for years in order to keep my back as happy as was possible. This is one reason that having a handicapped plate is so wonderful since most parking areas just do not allow enough space to open the door. I finally had spine surgery a few weeks ago but am told recovery from this one will take many months. Getting old ain't for wimps.
Oh this video is great. I wish it would have also covered showering and toilet. I will look at your other videos. Thank you for making this is was very helpful.
Very informative।। Thanks a lot for detail solution of every probable question that came to mind of patients after surgery। 2month before I had gone with spine surgery । Lots of questions are on my mind ।। I got most the answers।
After three consecutive kyphoplasty surgeries six months later I am still not walking on my own you make it look like you can walk right out of the hospital
I have spine surgery in two days and I have taken copious notes on your tutorial as well as bookmarked the video so I can re-watch it. Great work - thank you so much for posting!
@@gosman949 Good deal, I may yet have to do that. This last surgery was to remove a chunk of bone compressing the nerves to the legs. I kept putting it off until retirement so ... We'll see.
@@judil3294 so you had a laminectomy decompression! I had that too last September. It was an easy out-patient surgery. It stopped the stinging in my legs. But I have a spondylitis lower down that needed fusion to help with the back pain.
Thank you. Been 3 wks since surgery. You hit the most challenging topics I've had. Bed #1 problem as mattress is too high. A stepper helped solve the problem, OT provided guidance and assist. So thankful.
5/26/22 I’m 58 and just had a micro discectomy at L3,4,5 R. 9 days ago and wish I would have seen your video sooner Doctor. I have violated some of these like getting out of a chair which I used both arms and picked myself up from the arms on a high armchair. Getting in and out of bed I sat at the edge like you did but no pillow, then rotated to a laying down position. Twisting I tried very hard not to do and was successful for the most part. I know in general all the basic moves being I had the same surgery at L4-5 when I was 24 due to a work related injury. My question is, although my pain is getting better, I’m doing my 10 minute +/- walks and sitting as strait as possible and using a small pillow behind the lower lumbar if needed. I have had up and down days so far and as of two days ago I’m only taking one prescribed Ibuprofen and/or a muscle relaxer if needed. They gave my OxyContin to but I’m trying to stay away from it. In 9 days I only took 10 with the prescription saying 1 to 2 per day. My question: Yesterday I had almost no pain, I was doing my walking and was excited that things were looking up, today and last night not so much. Pain at L4-5 is at about a 3 or 4. There have been these types of up and down days but overall day by day I feel I’m getting just a tad better. The question is, is this fairly normal or common with some people. I’m a bit concerned being I could have been a little more careful in the first 3 to 4 days etc. I did read t my doctor’s directives twice and nothing mentioned about the chair or bed movements. I guess another question is, I would assume I’m heading to PT after te healing time. Will you guys work out the pains if any. Like I said I’m at the 9 day mark and the doc said it’s gonna be about 6 weeks. I go to see him for follow up in a week. Any info would help and thank you for your informative video. I assume it’s not to late and I’m gonna follow it to a tee.
Hey Paul! This was amazing before and after my back surgery. Great tips on how to sit and ice..very important. Looking forward to seeing you soon in the Clinic! Thanks again for making it so easy and informational for us back people! Take Care and See You Soon! 😉🍁🍁😊
So I just found you. Thank you for coaching me how to get home from surgery. I’m having kyphoplasty in a couple of days. My doctor can’t enlarge my vertebra back to its original size but we are hoping to stabilize the fracture and get me pain free…I could come off Norco! Maybe not immediately…and maybe I’ll do some weaning, but darn I’m ready to gain my independence back!
Great video!!! Well done Sir. I believe the same things apply when you have a herniated disc e.g.L4 L5 Maybe you could share some exercises, stretches or which to avoid.
Hello I'm from Cambodia I have lower back paint as you and also had surgery after two weeks know I'm still hurts with wond operation then taking medicine every day yet . please you tell me with yours etc .thanks please .
This video was amazing and very helpful. I am recovering from spinal decompression surgery, week, three, and feeling stronger every day. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and share with us!
Had the same surgery a week ago. How long did it take you to be able to walk at normal speed without pain? I walk about a mile a day but I have to go super slow and it's making the rest of my muscles sore because it's not my normal movement.
This is one of the best informational videos I have seen on this. It’s ridiculous how little info surgeons give you on things like this.
Getting in the car is a battle🥺
Hang in there! Every day gets better! 🥰
Great info until the lifting. Older people with bad knees just can't crouch down like that and get back up.

Thanks ! May have bk surgery next year. Someone said to put a plastic garbage bag in the seat to assist in sliding in ?

There you have it...ha ha. I'm a caregiver for someone else. I need back surgery, so how is that supposed to work? I want to laugh/cry endlessly.
Hello Paul! Do you have any other good hip flexor/stretches that you recommend for lower body? Really looking forward to your response/video

Hope you're doing well. Mine was only a few weeks ago and in my case I was told recovery will take "many" months. :)

Both legs need to be together to prevent shearing of the joints. Good Video though.
Upcoming surgery in four weeks
If lying on back in bed is it ok to bend both knees and slide my feet closer to my bottom ?

what about toilet use and cleanup after?
Thanks
You are welcome!
Thank you for showing how to recover in such a precise manner. You worked slow enough to understand for each movement. God bless a care taker! ♥️🙏🏼♥️

Very Helpful! Thank You!
Bed rail has also been a HUGE help. I can easily roll over, get up and lie down without twisting my back into a pretzel. I got mine from Amazon.

Nice..Paul.
I am an occupational therapist , working in spine institute. I mostly see low back pain patients on daily basis.
I see PT teaching ADL training....rather than OT.

What about climbing stairs or going back down?

I always love these how to showing young strong 6ft. People. I'm 5ft2 and my butt barely hits the seat. These things are impossible for me.
