    If you just scale an object, the inside holes will get bigger, where with shrinkage you need to make them smaller as it should be shrinkage by surface, eg if you have a simple boss 10mm id and 16mm od you need to have a 9mm id and 17mm od to be correct

    Very educating video but correct me if wrong: we should do following in sequential order
    1) Shrinkage
    2) Split, draft and combine
    3) sketch outer body, split to make cavity and core ....

      Hi Sunil Saxena Thank you for watching!
      You are right. I just wanted to show the update function.

    I found this interesting due to my experience in resin casting. Good info on the draft and shrinkage, but those splits at the 30 min mark would never work.

      @cadcamstuff  6 лет назад

      Hi gwkdad Thank you for watching!
      True in the end there, I should have made one more circular split from the top

    Another great vid, Lars. Thank you. Great hints about drafts. How about making a mold for more irregular shape. The one comming from free form modeling enviroment. Are you gonna share a knowledge on tha subject? That would be much appriciated. Cheers.

    Watch all of your videos and really enjoy them. Not being a mold maker I have a question.
    How is the mold held together during the casting process. Dowel pins or other method?
    John

      @cadcamstuff  6 лет назад

      Hi helicopterjohns Thank you for watching!
      Yes, if a plastic injection mold it will be sitting in a molding press. If something else, maybe just some standard clamps

    I understood the video, which is excellent but the piece i want to make is more complex and maybe it would have to be a 3 piece mold or maybe more. How can I do that?

    @15:20, for the center bushing body, why would you chose 'Remove' vs. 'Delete'?

    • @cadcamstuff
      @cadcamstuff  6 лет назад

      Hi NONAMESLEFTNONE Thank you for watching!
      I always use remove over delete...Well, because the delete will sometimes give you an undo function, where the remove will always....remove :-)

    Hi Lars. Why did you add a draft please? was it part of the design or you just wanted to show us Linkage feature ? Thanks any way

  • @johnedwards1968
    @johnedwards1968 6 лет назад +1

    Why use the draft?

    • @CiaranWhelan
      @CiaranWhelan 6 лет назад +1

      It assists the molded part to pull from the mold.

    • @NONAMESLEFTNONE
      @NONAMESLEFTNONE 6 лет назад

      I asked the same thing and looked it up online after this video. It has to do with pressure on the mold casting.

    can I create any diamond pattern for a negative cavity of any given shape

    • @cadcamstuff
      @cadcamstuff  6 лет назад

      Hi mohammed arif Thank you for watching!
      Sure thing. I would probably use construction planes or patch surface for all the angular cuts and then use Split Body in the modify dropdown

    Would this work if you imported say an STL file and used that instead of the linked model to make the mold from?

      Because it is livestreaming, RUclips downs the resolution to 720, but also make sure that you have it on highest resolution on the little gear icon in the lower left.
