The question with new injection molds is often "will it fill?" I discovered recently that it doesn't cost that much to use Fusion 360 mold flow analysis to answer this question, along with how much sink you will get.

Great video. In answer to where your Fusion 360 cloud credits came from, every new subscriber gets 100 credits as part of their subscription. A one time grant.

They will expire soon so use it till end of this month.
I have 60 left. Have to find a project for it to use it.

Totally a missed opportunity to open the video with “will it flow? That is the question” with the will it blend music.

@John how accurate is the simulation? Did you have a chance to see if the sink marks, weld lines, warpage match on the actual molded part?

This feature used to be autodesk inventor only by now moved to fusion after 2021

Ah, that fits. Before I stumbled across this recently, I was under the impression that it was out of my reach. I bet I was thinking of the feature in Inventor.

Professionally, I use protolabs quoting and free DFM for sanity check of design, including fill pressure. How does fusion compared to uploading to protolabs?

I had forgotten about Protolabs. And that's a good idea for a follow-up. Thank you.

does the mold flow analysis have ABS plastic as an option or just PP?
    Thanks as always John

    • @JohnSL

Yes. They have many types of plastic, and many variations of each type.

I've been looking for a solution like this for a while. Thank you. I can't believe fusion wouldn't make this more known. I guess they want to sell more licenses.

Another great video! I would love to see the process of the physical mold design as well! Its crazy to see that this sort of analysis is available to non-professionals at a actual reasonable price.

Are you asking to see the mold design specifically for one of these parts? I have previous videos where I go over different aspects of mold design.

This is using my standard Fusion 360 license. The prices are on their web site.

Good idea. I'm about to make the mold for the first one, so can definitely compare them. The second one the customer never made a decision on whether to move forward or not.
