The band at my high school is small and we beat out huge schools all the time. We start practicing the last weeks of June and all the way up to marching season. Skipping some of August though
GSU Marching Band in The Years 1984-1990 always had the most competitive Drumlines and then to the Year 2018. These Programs in All of The Colleges a Young African American Student could Attend, And Even Without the Peer Pressures of The Advancement of a Scholarship in Music. Note: This College Activity Requires Skill, Because All of these Ciricullums Are Skilled.
Both were very good....Clark Atlanta bass drums had a more melodic push....because of size, GSU had more of a volume push, of course...so both were very good...
I like that other drum lines Moooves tho it’s like them cymbals just show more expression with moving to much and gram got dem trick tricks with there’s but It’s maybe to much for them to keep composure. I’m thinking to hard for gram but that’s my opinion
Clark Atlanta Same size like average high school drumline but destroyed hands down but thing about it they can get different ratings compare to Grambling cause of size
Grambling got in they ass no cap😂😂 from a percussionist stand point grambling has definitely got it.. Because I don’t think the spectators had any idea of what grambling was doing rudimental wise and that’s what all these comments show me🤦🏽♂️😂
Overall based on cadences wise, it's a tie. Gsu really thought they was going TY muscle Clark but Clark sounds real good for only 10. But Clark please tune your bass drums and don't ever do that bass run challenge again. That was completely horrible
The pelvic movements of their dance originate from traditional African dance movements. It is quite common in regions where melanated people and their respective cultures are prevalent. It is celebratory on nature. That's our flavor and what makes us the most imitated yet never duplicated beings on the planet.
Meaza Fluellen My mother is a professor of classical African history, and I'm familiar with all of the cultures from A-Z (Ashanti to Zulu) My father is a "Q," so I'm familiar with choreographed step routines, and my sister was in our high school marching band, so I get it Problem is, without any precursory explanation (for those who AREN'T familiar with the cultures) it just looks like more of the raunchy nonsense that one can find on BET or Mtv, and the reverence and homage paid to OUR history is lost on those who simply see it as overtly sexual and inappropriate I know that the roots of the movements are a celebration of life and fertility, however, it may be misinterpreted and looked at in the same light as nudity (which is completely natural, yet considered inappropriate in public) We may be the "most imitated," but we're probably the most misunderstood, as well, and when ignorance and lack of education lead to misunderstanding of our people, we usually suffer as a result That's all I'm saying Peace💚
@@RT-rc8cs This is true, but, those that are not familiar with the historical aspect of the dance would find it beneficial to learn more about the basis of it. What might seem lewd or inappropriate to some is completely acceptable to another especially those that understand the cultural significance of of the dance. Yes, it does have sexual connotations in certain situations, but, this is not one of them. It is celebratory in nature in this instance. We do not have to justify anything about ourselves or our wonderful, diverse culture. We should merely appreciate it and keep it pushin'. I will not spend my time explaining to those that do not understand or berate my culture because it is a variation from dances with which they are accustomed. I do not care to explain. It is what it is and that is why my culture is the most imitated culture in the world. I thank you for your input. Peace
Y'all just talking don't know nothing bout percussion that shit Clark did would get laughed at in the swac, Caribbean shit 😂, won't win no 5th quarters, stop hating on GSU

I really wish Grambling could play more snare CALLOUTS
I like that other drum lines Moooves tho it’s like them cymbals just show more expression with moving to much and gram got dem trick tricks with there’s but It’s maybe to much for them to keep composure. I’m thinking to hard for gram but that’s my opinion

Am I the only one confused by the need for THAT MUCH pelvic thrusting?🤔
