I don’t care what school they represent, I love all of our HBCU’s Marching Bands and Dancers. All of them work very hard, and are dedicated to giving us their very best with excellence! May God’s greatest blessings continue on these hard working young adults!
And maybe if more people of color [I am one] saw the beauty of the discipline of this and other HBCU bands they would strive to earn a spot on these bands and get an education in academics as well as discipline. This band is breathtaking and is its own army!
The mayor of Houston sponsored a "Battle of the Bands" in 2019 to raise money for HBCUs. It was so entertaining to see these bands perform for a good cause. Prarie View, Texas Southern, Grambling, FAMU, Southern University were some of the participants. It was amazing to watch, I hope to see it again.
The State Fair of Texas, has some great performances. Battle of the Bands, opens up the State Fair; 2nd week of State Fair, it is Texas / Oklahoma, Red River Rivalry weekend! ALL in Dallas, Texas; at the Cotton Bowl - State Fair of Texas! I love the City of Dallas.
@@AmandaFromWisconsin I didn't say we that we were the originators of the marching band. I was mainly referencing the way we do it. Our style of marching is unique. It's not "stiff" like military marching bands, which is seen as the norm. We like to make it fun! Just like we didn't create baseball & basketball but we made it more interesting and exciting. :-)
I attended PVAMU- back then.. you could here Earth Wind&Fire playing "cross the yard"... nothing like an HBCU.. the experience of a lifetime... the professors made such a lasting impact on my life--to this day...I go back for homecoming & hang with my nieces who are students there now. THERE'S NO SCHOOL LIKE AN HBCU!!
FYI: THIS BAND IS HEARD ON BEYONCE'S SONG "BEFORE I LET GO". THEY ARE FROM PRARIE VIEW, TX DOWN THE STREET FROM HOUSTON. IV'E SEEN THEM PERFORM MANY, MANY TIMES. BADASS BAND & VERY BIG, AS SAID EVERYTHING IS BIGGER IN TEXAS!!!
I love the uniqueness of each HBCU's marching band! As a former trombone and bass drum player, I loved the prestige my section had. The best status was becoming a drum major! Everyone is watching you and you become role models for little ones imitating you at games and other events. Shoutouts to all drum majors; past, present and future!! 👍😎 Thanks for allowing me to relive those great times in my life through your videos!! ✌
Vicariously living my old life as a band member. One of the things I HATE I didn't stick with in school.....sad face. I LOVE seeing them perform in Dallas at the hs battle of the bands. Marvelous job, keep improving, innovating and having FUN. These are the things you will have fond memories of when you get older.
I've been to one of these Events; when I attended like in 1990, or '91, it was another University that took the the place of Prairie View vs Grambling that year. Still a helluva Halftime Show.
It was 90'....I marched that year ....they played Elizabeth City....but the band still showed up and showed out....three bandsperformed that halftime year !!!
Go 'head Prairie View!!!! That was on point. The girls are beautiful, the marching was tight, the drum majors were smooth, etc..... Damn, I love HBCUs!!!!!
Mannnn y'all are deep and killed that intro March in! Nice uniforms, cute girls, everybody's in sink, drum majors on point! Who's ever saying negative comments must have lost to y'all frfr!
This band what tears to my eyes because of the memories that it took me back to.. I went back to high school junior high wow.... That's the way the bands did it back in the dizzaay.. back in the seventies ..each group had to put on a show not be shaking their butts like now ..they had to put on dramatic but tasteful shows.. camera light Patti LaBelle.. back in her day they put on the show.. and this band was fantastic 😂😀
Every since I was a little kid living in Mississippi I've always loved listening and watching the marching band😍😍😍 it's my favorite thing. And now I get to watch my cousin Cassondra Captain of the Black Foxes march in with them. Soon I'm hoping that my son attends a school that also has a marching band since he plays football for Diablo Valley College.
WOW !! This is a tremendous company of musicians/drum majors. I am in complete awe at your ability to focus on your mission without breaking character. I am filled with pride when I see the dedication you've given to this huge endeavor. Executed in Excellence !! Thanks so much for sharing.
You have to give them all props. They put in work and the game hasnt even started. It's a long day for them. Love from an 80's ol skool dancer.( Morgan State )
Yes she is cold.. i was a majorette in college and our director always stressed ; "Keep Smiling". If you dint she saw it and you got demerits for not smiling.
I've watched several HBCU bands but this band is TUUUUFFFFF!!!🔥🔥 Drum Majors The TRUTH!!!! That DrumLine MEEAANN!!! Dancers beautiful😍 My ppl just different
Man this band, the dance team and flag twirlers got down like James Brown! everybody on one accord. I love seeing my people this way, setting a positive example for thier peers not bad ones. Peace to all ✌✌💡💡☀
Their drum majors have a style similar to that of The Lockers from the 70's. Clean, high energy, and organized. What more can you ask for? I can dig it!!!
BRUUUUH!!! Boy this was str8 FIRE!!! Wow, I'm very impressed and appreciative of PVAMU and all HBCU bands. This takes a lot of hard work, dedication, discipline, and passion! They DEEP!! Love this! #BLACKExcellence
I went to Michigan State University and I'm thinking about adopting this as my secondary school to rep bc their band is so fantastic. Everyone was on point! ON POINT.
Wow nice video..that's a big ass band!! Living in San Diego 619 we don't get this at all!! I enjoy every video I've seen no matter what college it has been!! All positive energy!! HOOAH
I tell you what we are definitely in a category alone...we all have our favorite hbcu college bands but there's nothing like us..I have my favorite but I love watching all the hbcu bands...I love my people...💕💕
This is IMHO the B E S T entrance I've seen in a very long time. Made me proud ! Loved the way the dancers started it off. On point in the beginning...but got a little uncoordinated later on down the line. The DM's were clean and ti-ight ! They served a great variation of moves and stances smh. Head DM is a beast then on closer look find that...it's a girl. She held it down!! Percussions, drumline, cymbalists showed out ! The band in itself was sharp. This entrance gave me Life !
No way! I love that. I was appreciating that they let the shortest drum major be the Head Drum Major! I’ve been watching a lot of march-ins recently, and I agree with you about this one. Sharp, snappy, so much energy.
This looks and feels just like it should great job! College, great colors great fit for the dance team, big band , big dance team , who put this together know what they are doing
With the size of the band, imagine the practice, obstacles, and other unseen issues like people watching to close and ect. I personally don't any band is perfect, but trying to do their best is all that matters. Several members will miss a step or beat, but not intentionally.
PV doing the damn thang here..damn. that is a lot of hard work here. The DM are tight with it too. Is the lead DM the young lady I've seen before...I can't really tell. But I love the way they come into the break step. Anybody who has ever been a part of any high school/college/University bands are amazing!! To keep all the routines together like that...man! Y'all the shit for real.
Bro I swear y’all don’t know what you want... people complain that everyone is copying every one but when a band does their own thing it’s a problem... I swear🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️.... PV keep doing you man
I agree because what this band did was very classy..the creativity and the choreography was fantastic that's back in the dizzay and I'm 57 so my high school years were the 70s. it was choreography like that inspired us back teenagers too old to get in band for the stepping this what y'all call it now.. but that was what thrilled us being able to step with an instrument Sharp crystal clear beautiful..😎
As soon as they stepped into that tunnel, that shit started hitting toooootally different🔥 I would have gladly played to just stand there in that moment.
I go to this game every year down here in Dallas! But the coronavirus shut it down this year. I’ll definitely miss going! What’s worse..my youngest son is attending PV this year. I hate he won’t get to attend the game & enjoy Battle of the Bands!

I'm so proud of my oldest son being apart of the Drumline. He writes and read music.
I think this might be the only thing that we have left that hasn't been "stolen." Love my HBCU bands!
Marching bands didn’t originate with black Americans.
