  • Hi guys, so i have been doing resin printing since 2016 and now i finally find a budget printer that could match some of expensive resin printer that i have in terms of detail.
Keep in mind that it is a budget printer, so some flaws are to be expected before i purchase this printer.
for now i am not using this printer to do production work, but mostly just for fun.
so i share with you all Sonic Mini 4k problem and troubleshooting that i manage so far.
Resin that i am using is Esun Standard Resin Skin color
    my setting is
    bottom layer 4
    bottom exposure 6
    normal layer 2
    lift distance 6
    lift speed 80
    retract speed 80
    light-off delay 11
if you want to use screen guard, look up for ipad anti glare / matt screen guard.
here's link to the custom firmware gcode that i use from Mihkel Kaarma

That's the bed leveling method I described in the Sonic Mini 4k Community Facebook group. The reason you need to do it while printing is the build plate, when starting to print on the SM4k, moves down a step to the zero point. Instead of moving to the .03mm layer height like it should.

chiming in with a update for new peoples.
i ran the suggested gcode, and it works great, but i looked into upgrading the machine fw. Chitu 4.4.4 let's you use TSMC and resolves the 'speed crash into screen' issue.
tested with 60/200 lift, 200/60 retract, and the 'slow near screen' works as intended.

Hello, thank you very, very much for your significant information!
This movie actually includes all information I was looking for, for months without progress!!
Let me ask 2 questions for your excellent methods:
    (a) Did you remove original "screen guard and black tape", before installing anti-glare and Kapton?
    (b) Is my understanding correct?: the thickness and exposure time of the bottom layer are related with lifetime of FEP film and affect print quality in longer period, not when the FEP film is just fresh.

    • @wangdennys
      @wangdennys  3 года назад +1

      Hi there.
      a) yes i removed my black tape and then install screen guard, then cover with kapton tape.

Denny! Thank you for the great trouble shooting ideas!!!
    I have some questions.
Q1. Did you buy ipad anti glare / matt screen guard and cut the screen guard to fit SM4k screen ?
Q2. Did you find the "matt" type screen guard is still ok? I think matt type guard would diverse the UV light from below. Is there no issue using matt type?
Q3. Could you share the model name of transparent yellow tape you used for fixing the sceen guard with SM4k?
    Could you recommend tape model?

If you level like that… isn’t the first print layer actually one layer height above Z calibration point?

    • @wangdennys
      @wangdennys  3 года назад +2

      Yes, that is the point.
Because the first layer height is lower during print compare to z calibration.
Which causes the arm to bend upward and built plate press down too hard on screen

Thanks for sharing. I would like to build an hybrid printer with my shuffle 2019 and my sm4k. I want to keep the sturdy body of the shuffle and add the board and screen of the sm4k. I'm able to fit the location of the screen, so my main question is: Is it possible to flash the firmware of the sm4k board in order to adjust the settings of the stepper motor because i'm pretty sure the lead screw has a different thread pitch.

Could you recommend a step motor with screw for the printer? I have the same problem -horizontal lines pattern every 2 mm approx. I think the reason is the defective screw, which is the part of the step motor, I want to swap it. Maybe do you know some online shops where I could buy it?
