Processed meat is not the same as meat. That's misleading!
Also you have to distinguish between heme iron which is easily absorbed and non-heme iron which is difficult to be absorbed:
"The iron found in meat is 40% heme iron and 60% non-heme iron, whereas the iron found in plants is 100% non-heme. Studies have indeed shown that non-heme iron is not as readily absorbed as heme iron and as a result, people often label non-heme iron as inferior"

    Congrats on your pregnancy!
It scared me when you mentioned low carb diets being related to birth defects. While I do not intentionally restrict carbs, I tend toward a more fat and protein rich diet. I’m 6 weeks and worried. How many grams of carbs would you recommend to be safe? Furthermore, have you made a video on Vitamin A toxicity during pregnancy? My prenatal has 1200 mcg (50% as beta-carotene) and that seems so high. Especially since I (and I don’t think I’m alone here) eat a lot of vitamin A rich foods in my diet already.
Thank you for providing such informational videos! You are amazing 🤗

The book “Real Food for Pregnancy” by Lily Nichols RDN is very popular on social media amongst pregnant women.I haven’t read the book, but I’ve heard her on several podcasts and her nutrition advice is almost the polar opposite of your approach. I’ve been skeptical about it because it seems more “paleo” like in nature and more in opposition from general pregnancy nutrition advice. Thank you for doing this video. You’re right-SO much confusing information.

Yes, I've read most of it. It's unfortunate that this book masquerades as advice on a balanced, whole foods prenatal diet when it's really promoting a low-carb Paleo-esque diet with faulty science and cherry-picked references. I have a more extensive video on gestational diabetes coming out soon that really digs into the research on diet and GDM and shows that in fact, low animal products and high-fiber is the way to go!

There is so much confusion about pregnancy nutrition. Do you have any books you recommend? I’ve read Real Food for Pregnancy but after listening to your videos, I’m concerned. Thank you!

The book “Real Food For Pregnancy” by Lily Nichols states the complete opposite lol. I’m so confused now.

Unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation out there! The evidence doesn't lie though - more plants = healthier pregnancies!

In the first correlation you mentioned the lower birth weight found in groups with higher meat consumption. What was the cut off? Is it dose dependent. Is it even useful to site? Seems like a stretch to claim meat is the causal agent behind the lower weight.
