      @@RockyXTV it does not require 2 relays to make high beam and low beam, only a 4/or 5 pin relay and a floor switch or other switch with the same function are needed

    Add third relay for tail/marker lights.
    In an application like demonstrated, where high and low are actual separate units, and not a single “dual filament bulb”, it can be more desirable to keep the lows on while the highs are on. This greatly simplifies the wiring as well.

    • @hermayneMUNSTER
      @hermayneMUNSTER Год назад

      Been trying to find documentation or videos on how to do just that. Want to keep low beams on when high beams are activated and only low beams on when low beams are activated. Any details on how to accomplish would be appreciated!
      PS my question are for LED bars where they just have an "on/off". Low beam would be one bar activated and high beam would be both bars activated.

    • @AztecWarrior69
      @AztecWarrior69 8 месяцев назад

      @@hermayneMUNSTER The answer is simple. You just use a relay that is 5 Pin but instead it has TWO 87 pins. That's what they are meants for. So when you turn on that relay it sends power to two different circuits. So you wire the first set of lights direct from the 5 Pin relay. From there, you use the 4 pin relay, to turn off and one the Second set of lights.
      I can provide a diagram if you like.

    thanks man you have help me alot,
    the way i did mine is similar with your wiring method few things i change and added to it i have use rotary switch OF ON ON which is side marker lamp for the first ON position TAKE NOTE: FIRST ON POSITION WILL CUT POWER WHEN I TURN KNOB TO SECOND ON POSITION! and low beam for the second ON position, i have a separate ON OFF switch for high beam and i also added push button to it " FOR FLASH", i got fancy a little i added volt meter, LEDs for every switches and built fuse block. i did mine this way BECAUSE MY BROTHER'S OLD VAN light is messed up. Thanks! Helps me out a lot. I wish you would have used two rockers, instead of mismatched switches. I'm assuming the rockers would be on-off with an upper independent and lower dependent indicator light. (Which takes care of the need for a separate indicator.)

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for watching! The indicator light was separate purposely for the design. It was to emulate what you would typically have in a normal vehicle as your High Beam indicator is normally on the gauge cluster and not down on the switch. The two switches I chose to use for the demonstration were also to make this similar to a vehicle, you have your switch (most of the time a knob/selector switch) to turn on your headlights. You then have your high beam switch built into another component of the vehicle, i.e - turn signal lever, wiper control lever. I hope that explains my choices in parts for the video. Thanks again!

    Excellent explanation presentation and video. I have a simple wiring project challenge for you. Lol I've got a trux 3/4 inch Amber to green marker light. 3 wires 1 ground. One yellow wire to be provided 12 V for Amber light. Then 1 wire red to be provided at the same time 12 V to provide a green illumination. How can I run a switch system to go from Amber to green. Preferably using a 3 position toggle/rocker switch. I have to have power going to one and then power going to both To be able to transition from Amber to green. Am I able to do this with just one sitch or do I have to use a relay and secondary switch like you have in this video. I apologize if my comment was too lengthy just looking for your Guidance

    How to wire only when ignition switch on?

  • @1calvin
    @1calvin 5 лет назад +1

    Would that same setup work for a dual radiator fan

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  5 лет назад

      It would work, but most likely not as you would want it to. This setup would basically let you turn one fan on at a time, not both.

    Is there anyway to wire this so that when you flip on the high beams all 4 lights will stay on? I have an atv I want to do this to that has a stock hi/low switch.

    Will this relay set up work on a motorized bicycle/ moped using motorcycle switches?

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  5 лет назад +1

      You would just have to determine what pins on the switches do what and there should be no problem. You would need a 12 volt system as well. Thanks for watching!

      This set up works on my homemade motorized bicycle. Got my high and low beam headlight working. Thank you for this information, I'll make a second one for my turning signals and see if it works. Thank you again.

      @@RockyXTV sir i have another question, does relays consuming battery power even the switch is off?

  • @pprotory
    @pprotory 6 лет назад +1

    I am curious why you chose this method when in just about all situations you should keep low beams on and have high beams come on as well without turning off low beams. The exclusion would be if you were running a dual filament bulb but if you are running 4 separate lights then low beams should really never go off.

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  6 лет назад +1

      I chose this method as I expect a lot of people using this video would be re-purposing some for of OEM headlight. This would then most likely have a dual filament bulb as you said.

    • @pprotory
      @pprotory 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah on an ATV I can see that. I was just thinking though how it leaves out everyone who has an old sealed beam (2 low and 2 separate high) setup since none of them originally had relays. Maybe an idea for another video?

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  6 лет назад +1

      I have been planning another video using some 4x6 sealed lights for high and low.

    • @jurica0301
      @jurica0301 3 года назад

      If you connect light bar as show in video above, your switch for low beam must be always on. See link below for better solution

      This connection works great with H4 bulbs when low beam must get off and high beam get on.
