It’s frustrating how jobs can make us feel this way 😔. I know we need money to survive, but as a community, especially as Americans, we need to come together 🤝. This isn’t our fault - these corporations are being greedy, and they’re only hurting the economy 💸. The government doesn’t seem to be doing enough about it, but don’t lose hope. I recently graduated and I didn't have any offers lined up even though for the last year I have been applying non-stop. I ended up accepting the first offer I got which has a below average pay just for experience. to be honest, I am really happy in the company and I like the people I am working with but the salary is so low that I do not see myself staying long. The question is, how long do I have to wait before I leave? would a year be good enough to have experience which companies look for?
I'm already in the industry without a college degree, but it terrifies me to lose my job and not being able to find a new one because I don't have a degree. I might just go ahead and finish college.

Yes, quit your job and go back to college so you don’t lose your job.
Indeed, nowadays it's really hard to get a high-paying job without a degree. I'd say that if you still have a chance to save money: Do It. Saving money is already a good buffer to do anything else, either going to college or preparing for a lay-off.
Starting as a PT, I worked my butt off for 6 years through school to get an MA in tech writing, after 9 months I haven't even gotten one interview for a full time position. It really feels hopeless. Seems like no one wants to give newcomers a chance.

The severance break is such a release, going from 21 to 25 you are a whole different person but working in FAANG you never get a chance to truly reflect on your life
Well, you do you and all, but rejecting an offer for feeling like you're "locked in" with back-loaded RSUs in years 3 and 4 is kind of crazy in this market when you're going on the better part of a year being unemployed. I also got laid off this year with 12 years of experience. I have no shortage of companies interested in interviewing me. I did over 120 interviews in less than 4 months. But there were so many rejections where they told me I did great but another candidate had slightly more relevant experience or did slightly better in the interviews. I just accepted a really great offer, but it was the first one that came along, too. It's rough out there right now.
Interesting. What are your skills? Do you have side projects that you work on? Have you updated your skills, since your last job? For instance, have you taken a class or been involved with an open source project? (Watched shut half of the video. Sorry if you’ve answered these questions later in the video.)

oh yeah, same here, the interviews that went really good, I get an rejection. But after the bad interviews, they invite me to the second or third interview (and then reject... xD) but hey, at least I get some practice.

Keep pushing forward 💪!
I’m enrolled in the Coursera course and it’s great for a start
I'm already in the industry without a college degree, but it terrifies me to lose my job and not being able to find a new one because I don't have a degree. I might just go ahead and finish college.
Yes, quit your job and go back to college so you don’t lose your job.
maybe you can get your company to sponsor your degree
Indeed, nowadays it's really hard to get a high-paying job without a degree. I'd say that if you still have a chance to save money: Do It. Saving money is already a good buffer to do anything else, either going to college or preparing for a lay-off.
Starting as a PT, I worked my butt off for 6 years through school to get an MA in tech writing, after 9 months I haven't even gotten one interview for a full time position. It really feels hopeless. Seems like no one wants to give newcomers a chance.
Will it ever get better!?!?!?
2022 was the best year. I would say until 2026 will be tough job market and then will be back to normal.
why 2026
@@namanhkapur looking at past few recessions it’s taken few years to bounce back so I would say middle of 2026 will be back to normal.
There are many things to consider USA election, federal interest rate etc, things will come down eventually so my bet is 2026, will be golden again.
Let’s hope for the best.
There's people who can't get a job in this market and you taking your time to flex that you denying companies because of "equity" ... this ain't it look at your comments bro
hope you didn’t take it as a flex
Because we is right and you are a scumbag for flexing.
The severance break is such a release, going from 21 to 25 you are a whole different person but working in FAANG you never get a chance to truly reflect on your life
Been looking since April, got interviews but no success
Hope something comes your way soon bro. Keep up the good content too !
thanks homie
I have an associates in Electronics Technology but I can only get jobs in retail because getting a job in the tech industry is impossible today. I got turned down at my last tech job interview because I couldn't pass the microsoldering test which was impossible to do. I hardly did any soldering in college and it was just through hole components and not surface mount.
I think there should a community for unemployed people to come together..
facts
oh yeah, same here, the interviews that went really good, I get an rejection. But after the bad interviews, they invite me to the second or third interview (and then reject... xD) but hey, at least I get some practice.
so weird right
I've been trying hard to get an interview in the accounting field and I just lost my job to a layoff that cut 20% of the company. I don't know many people and that is not working out in my favor. If anyone would be interested in brainstorming, networking, etc. reply to this comment. I'm not a bot trying to farm contact info, just someone that has become desperate enough to try anything, including RUclips comment sections.
I wish I can do what you did..being immigrant on VISA is a worst thing that you can have..even in bad times you can't even stop to take a break but have to get up and keep fighting.
I'm employed right now. Went two years unemployed due to being unable to reverse a string🤣. Got a job without all that LeetCode BS. I'm going to be prepared next time. Hopefully it never comes but if the time does come when I become unemployed again, I will be prepared for those interviews and finally be able to reverse that string 😂.
I quit engineering around 8 years back to follow my passion in music and arts. Now if I wanna get back I'm not sure if big tech will consider my resume if I apply online. Would be great to see a video on getting hired after a (longish) break!
Job layoffs randomly without notice scares the hell out of me, trying to save/invest as much money as possible. Now that i have a job
0:27 I am from India and I do agree with this statement. It's all about "Love" Namanh 😊
indeed it is
Thanks for the interesting video! But I have to mention: you are not recruiting, you are job searching. Recruiting is what companies do; job searching is what candidates do.
Enjoying these series . Thank you for sharing as software engineer who's in the same position. This gives me hope plus am learning new things every time I watch your video.
If it's not too much to ask from would you be in a position to help / mentor as I look for the SWE remote (As a challenge for developer who currently based in Africa ).
Good luck on your job search!
Fingers crossed!
❤11 seconds in and I smiled for you that your mom is concerned for you
amazing story telling!
I been living in Canada for about 2 year. I am from India nd just completed my masters in CS just 8 months and i just got offer for a government job here in Canada. Now its time to paid the debts of my parents shoulder.
Keep grinding people something will come along the way.🙏
Hi, I would love to connect with you and learn about your journey, Is there a way to contact you on LinkedIn?
I'm unemployed, but with only 2 years experience at 2 different companies. How do you find companies that you want to apply to?
linkedin and friends of friends
Crunch base
Sorry for the guys and gals who left the video after hearing reach out to your old flames and embarrassed themselves
I’ve never worked a full time job with normal salary hours. I’ve worked as a conservationist for $3 for 10 hours a day. I feel dehumanized, demoralized. I have lost all hope.
I sent out almost 100 applications and not get a single interview yet. It's hard and very sad as senior developer. I don't understand
now apply to 1000 keep your head up
Any particular reason why you struggling and that too in US ? Are you open to relocate / Are you open to take a paycut ? Some folks miss out on opportunities because they are not flexible. In this economy , you need to be flexible enough to go anywhere where job takes you .....I am interested to know your thoughts.
hold on this guy does in fact have a job: RUclips with sponsors and everything...
health insurance is expensive
Your a dime a dozen in IT. Its ROI is horrible. Idk why people keep flocking to it.
What is better?
@@AZ-gs6hj The trades, literally anything else is better.
Get into Cyber Security fam! I was recently jobless but I get recruiter and talent acquisition calls about three times a week. So, about a month into being unemployed I received a call about a promising job as a Cyber Security Engineer. One interview and one hour later (yesterday) I got offered the position making a little more than I was before. It was only the second job I interviewed for. Now that I think about it, I gotta let the other place know.
Disclaimer: 14+ years xp, CS undergrad, and most importantly, I LOVE what I do for a living.
You have 14 years of work exp.
you guys get interviews?
im not gonna lie. im getting scared as hell. I'm a senior who just finished two internships with a company. They are on strike and its a real chance my full time wont be there with them. I been scrambling trying to find other offers and its been tough to even get an interview. I still have time I dont graduate till may but im getting more and more scared daily I wont lie. Lately, if im not applying to jobs then im practicing DSA.
how come your resume says you currently work for linkedIn?
there's a story there
@@namanhkapurwhen do we get that story
My wife says watching this shit doesn’t help me to get over my thousands of rejections.
I am stuck in a loop until job, but no job…
Where are you getting stuck in the pipeline?
@@Scott_Stern I have had several final round interviews, even had an offer rescinded (through no fault of my own). I am interviewing for senior roles with $250K-$350K total comp, as I have 15 years experience, so that adds to the level of difficulty.
thats super hard.
You have 5 more years of experience than i do so idk if i can do anything to help. If you wanna email me from my channel i can see if i can reach out to ppl in my network for you
What should someone do if they fail to get any real interviews to fail miserably?😅
"Reach out to my network"
Mf I wasn't employed to have a network to reach.... wtf you on about?
10 months of unemployment and finally got an interview for a federal position. Fingers crossed!
good luck!
I only got 2 weeks of severance pay when I was laid off.
Give to Caesar (your future employer) what belongs to Caesar
Current Rice CS Junior, hoping you get an amazing opportunity soon and don't forget about COMP 140 😆
og rixner let’s go
severance. did you get 2 weeks of severance for every year you work for the company? so since you work for the company 3 years before you got laid off, you got 6 weeks of severance....am i correct?
i’ll make a video!
Last time I got laid off I got one month severance for every year I worked there.
When was this and what company?
@@vincentnnyc 2020, a Fortune50 company
Well good for you. I guess my company is going by what most company are doing out there. Yeah u can negotiate but at the end of the day, they can say no

Maybe Something big is happening, we just need to find it. That cheese has moved but where?? Any ideas on what?
I'm unemployed for 1.3 years. it's crazy.

Total, or just latest stint?
Me for 5 years lol.
Did you take the data analyst course which you have mentioned in your video?
Unemployed 1.5 years, i have savings but don't see future

I recall few years ago when lots of post where like, "...I am being paid $110K blah blah...". Should I ask for more or am I being cheated. Now, reality has set in, & power has gone back to orgs.
Man, being a software engineer seems hard and stressful. I would rather be a sanitation engineer (AKA - Janitor).
uh i don’t know about that
What do you if you burned bridges on several jobs? I been out of work for 3 years now. I’m so depressed, no motivation and I’m in my early fifties.
I am sorry to hear that. How do you support yourself?
Who the hell got 500 rejection, and who can even count that much!
I'm not in your field , programing etc ... But I've been in the same spot ...
Could u do a video about testing or ranking coding / tech courses bootcamps
