So glad to hear this confirmation. I find when I putt with an open stance, maybe 7-10° open, from every distance, my putting improves. I don't know if it's because Im a left-eye dominate right handed putter that has a natural inside out stroke, or what, but I can see the line and I just feel like im pushing the putt down an accurate line.
Im left handed and left eye dominant (but I play golf right handed) and ive really struggled trying to putt with a square stance. Only this week I've tried an open stance and it's made a big difference to feel, distance control and having a nice 'straight' take away with the putter - which is something that's caused me no end of problems. It certainly helps me see the line much better. It feels much more natural and confortable to open up a bit and looks down the line with both eyes. Not sure i like the putter in this video, but he makes some excellent points: ruclips.net/video/LprG0kEbhBo/видео.html It made me google 'putting with an open stance' and find this. I have no clue why a putting god like @Brad Faxon has so few subs! #puttingfordough
Thanks so much for this! I've been struggling a bit with my routine too and I like this procedure the best, I think. Have a look from behind, get the feel for the putt, step up and take those practice strokes with the open stance and go.
This is exactly what I do..... I make a few strokes looking at the hole with an open stance and I ask myself “is that the right speed” then I just make the same stroke while looking at the ball but a picture of the hole in my mind
Do you suggest this on the shorter putts as well??? My process is to find my line (line marked on ball) then try to estimate the speed. I've always been a fan of your play. All the best!!!

Great Tip Brad, something I will definitely give a try.
Cheers
