    Love to see a comparison in the open ocean in the darkness with no lighs from the marina and city ect

    • @Andrico77
      @Andrico77 2 месяца назад

      That is true, but what I find most difficult is busy harbors with markers and buoys flashing and city lights reflecting on the water. Pitch black open water for me is easy minus of course hidden floating objects ie logs etc

    Had the FLIR on my last boat. The fuzziness of the images would give me a headache. I put SiOnyx on my new boat. The SiOnyx is sharp so I have no more headaches.

    The Sionyx Nightwave Camera is terrific. We tested it extensively on our own 640SF and now offer as option on our Haines Signature and Seafarer range of boats. Such an extensive and thorough test Sean. Great stuff.

      Thanks guys! After comparing the positives and negatives, I will be fitting the sionyx on my next boat. Such a ripper product

    great video, have been looking at the Nightwave and this video told me everything I need to know regarding the differences....the cost advantage of Nightwave ($2k) vs. Flir ($7k)...since I don't need pan/tilt the nightwave is the answer for me, expecially since the nightwave has a 44 degree lens. I realize the Flir system is thermal which is a pretty big advantage but doesn't justify the cost.

      Thank you, glad we could help.
      Both awesome options, I’m using a nightwave currently and loving it.

    Thank you for your video and content. Helping us how o explain the differences in real life. But i have a question, how is the performance of two at the sea without light around ?

    • @StreakerMarine
      @StreakerMarine  8 месяцев назад

      Flir. It works the same no matter the lighting available (or lack off) Sionyx works fantastic with some sort of natural light, but in the ocean with no moon you will want a FLIR on the boat for sure

      You know why right? Two words, military grade. When you go from automotive to marine grade, you can double or triple your price. Going to military, 5 to 10 times the price. Just because they know they can get away with it with the US government.

      I’d say an M500 beats it, lol.

    For object avoidance at sea (container small fishing boat without AIS, small buoy and fishing net) which you recommend Flir or Syonix, which model? Thanks

    • @StreakerMarine
      @StreakerMarine  8 месяцев назад +3

      Flir. 100%. By having the thermal imaging, you won't miss anything no matter the light conditions. The sionyx is amazing in low light conditions but needs some sort of ambient to be affective. Hope this helps

    Great video, thank you. What do you think if we combine our current Sionyx Nightwave with handheld Flir Scion OTM266 (same price tag, but much better resolution than M232, can be fixed with on ¼-20 tripod mount and streamed through Wifi to iPad, also useful for MOB or similar situations when used as a handheld)? Is it worth the hassle?

    • @seansavage1449
      @seansavage1449 Месяц назад +1

      It’s a good question. If the OTM266 has an open view (I.e not behind a windscreen) it will be best option regarding resolution.
      I like your thinking.
