Man those Rick Howard’s are tough to beat. They looked so sick in every color way. I had them in gray with blue laces. Those are probably tied with the Lynx for me as the best looking DC shoe of all time. Also, low key the Cozmo (Mike Caroll) was really sick and underrated.
Vans had to outsource to East Asia due to the air pollution caused by producing and manufacturing vulcanized shoes. Wish we could get some higher end Vans.
my Dad still wears these puffy DC shoes like he was still living the 1990s. He said that they are the most comfortable shoes ever made and I think he´s right. The foam interior is easily half an inch thick....
If u can believe it we even cut tongues out of other shoes and added them under our puffy tongues to make em even puffier for a very brief period early to mid 90s.
@@SOLESERFER were the eS Muska shoes the only ones where the tongues were also key´s pockets? Were there any other gimmicky designs that you came across?
Man. I remember thumbing through CCS catalogs, and seeing most of these when I was young, just starting to skate. Seeing all those shoes (and boards, trucks wheels clothes, ALL of it was so unobtainable to me at the time.) I was even skeptical that the CCS catalog itself was completely free, when first hearing about it from my cousin. I was absolutely pumped when I started receiving CCS catalogs in the mail- it dealt like I was getting a free subscription to a magazine.
@@SOLESERFER definitely. At the time I was in 4th grade when i received my first catalogue. Unless it was my birthday or Christmas, I wasn’t getting anything from CCS unless it was like some hardware, or stickers or something. My only ‘income’ was a $2 weekly allowance, and $20/week during the summer for cutting my grandparents grass.
I did a part 2 top shoes of the 90s included the lynx and I don’t know it woulda been that or the Howard maybe. ruclips.net/video/tglnndK8JfU/видео.html
Sick shoe reviews page John! I always wanted the Howard 1 from DC and for some reason just never got a pair. DC should definitely rerelease that shoe and name it something different.
i have a brother who's 9 years older than me, so i was 8 at the turn of the century, but what i do remember about skate shoes from the mid to late 90s to the early 2000s, is how massive they were and how they had those enormous tongues lol
I had the vans chuckka. Comfortable.. i couldn't ollie but i did lotta curb tricks or mini ramps ..so rails and stars wasn't on my bucket list ..that shit svared me😂
Good video! Got to ask: back in the late 90's I had the sickest pair of Puma skate shoes. Can't find a single pic of them anywhere. They were made of black suede (tick), white puma side "wave", also had black sole and a stilized A on the heel (kind of like the Anarchy symbol), wich was (I guess) teh artist signature or something... Anybody has a clue on what teh name of these were? Really loved to see them pop up again, they were so confortable, since they're bringing so much of the fat shoes back! Thanks!
You right on that homie I don’t even wanna see my ugly ass face but this was one of the first videos I made I had never edited a video before and I wasn’t sure how the copyright situation worked on RUclips. I think I’ve gotten better editing and less of my face because I have a health condition now and Jah knows I’ve only gotten uglier 🤣
@@SOLESERFER I skated as a young kid but bought these shoes later on only for casual wear. I love my Nike, adidas etc. as a reminder of my youth and the urban culture :) Some of them get customized by me because they look too bland stock.
Oh and the second Templeton's
I wish we could find these.....

Yeah enjoyed all those for sure classic picks.
CLOCKERS ,LYNX,HOWARDS,RUDY J2 , AND HOOK UPS TARGET
I mostly wore Made In USA Vans up to the mid-90's. Had an incredible pair of green corduroy Chukka's.
Chukkas always a banger…green cord sounds sick.

Yes there were other shoes with “key pockets” but honestly I can’t remember what models or if any came before the muskas.

Same here my friend 👊 👊
Half cabs were my favorite
What about your thoughts on the Lynx? Weren’t you skating those in your 411 AWS industry section?
I did a part 2 top shoes of the 90s included the lynx and I don’t know it woulda been that or the Howard maybe. ruclips.net/video/tglnndK8JfU/видео.html
The vans caballeros and chukka boots. The airwalk velocity, enigma, and prototype 540.
My top 5 favorite shoes in the 90's were skate shoes
In 2019, there are no skate shoes in the top 5 favorites.
Mike Elbow Kalis OG reissue and DC Lynx reissue ;)
Its also the same with pants, in the 90'z you got cool loose pants & now its all this skinny shit that dont fit
