Salvatori got the last laugh in the end. Created his greatest soundtrack that even rivals Halo 3, and now no one could ever fill in his shoes for Destiny 2's future content. Bungie Execs screwed up big time.
@Ace-ob9yk this track writes emotion much better which is what it is intended to do. Comparing it to grasp doesn't work as that ost, while good, doesn't and shouldn't have emotional ties. Comparing it to first disciple, oneirophobia, riven of a thousand etc is all more fair. In the end this is at least a pretty good track, but it writes emotion and nostalgia incredibly well and is an incredible piece doing what it needs to do in context of the environment, even if it is not the best piece on its own

Dude honestly same. Hearing the same music that captivated 9 year old me, the very thing that got me to play Destiny in the first place, again was so enthralling. There I was, 18 years old and getting emotional at the same track from all those years ago. That ending was special.
They heard this and said "Awesome, this will be a quintessential piece to the soundtrack, and among the best songs you ever made! ...... you're fired."
The background melody comes from an unplayed track that was in the D1 ost playlist that combined a bunch of our themes and sounded like a final boss as well, fitting.
While I'm never one to excuse shady and scummy corporate practices - I think it bears emphasising that we'll never know the truth. That and incidentally, Salvatori was 70, or is pushing it. After all he's done I think he's earned retirement.
Salvatori, Sechrist, and Skye poured their hearts into this shit don't let this distract you from the fact the entire music team popped off. Rotem Moav has top credit on A LOT of the songs (I'm assuming after the layoffs and the team was left to pick up the pieces) it will never be the same, but the music IS in good hands. the entire music team peaked.

It definitely has a nice nostalgic feel to it, but I can't help but feel like the who TFS soundtrack was kinda underwhelming. I felt like most of the campaign music was recycled stuff from previous expansions and the new stuff was very unremarkable.
Michael took all the leitmotifs from each race, nostalgic leitmotifs from D1, and connected them all. Biggest fuckin "it all comes down to this" I ever got from any OST
