- Have you ever wondered about Ren Amamiya’s parents from Persona 5?
In this video I set out to prove that his parents are the main characters of another Atlus game. Also, I made a mistake on the the part about Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. You can just ignore that 10 seconds of the video. Pretty sure the rest of the video is still accurate.
And a big shout out to Mushroom Intruder for their amazing fanart. Check out their channel here: • An fanart for @KumaPlays

I highly doubt Atlus will ever let this be the case, but it is a fun theory in my opinion.
Also, I think I messed up on the part about Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. The Persona Q part still holds up though, so just forget the 10 seconds I talk about Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. LOL.
Me an Intellectual: Bayonetta
Hahaha. I like this comment way more than I should.
Thank you very much!
The secret route of the Catherine games.
Some one else said thanks your truly are smart
And the father, Dante!
lol
Bruh imagine the malevolent god was just chilling when he saw some random kid get born from a demon and said "yeah he seems cool enough"
Hahaha, there's a thought. I mean, weirder things have happened in the Persona/Catherine universe.
so with this logic in mind could we also assume that the main character of devil survivor 1 is makoto yuki's father and he died in a crash
interesting idea his parents could be from a lot of other Atlus games
Thanks a lot.
Yeah, that's true. Atlus games tend to have intense and fantastical stories.
The funny thing is that I actually confused Ren from Persona with the character from Catheryn (or whatever you call it) that I vaguely remembered from some youtuber gameplay. I thought that soon in persona we gonna see Ren half naked with horns. XD
That is funny! I think the developers used Catherine as a sort of proof of concept for Persona 5. So, there are definitely similarities.
Thanks for the watching!
Hey guys let's think for a second. This COULD BE the beginning tie to shin megami tensei as the biggest question that nobody asks why shadows and not demons. This could be the start if it's true
That's a pretty good idea actually. I like where you are going with that!
The problem with it being Catherine is that in one of the endings it’s revealed that the game actually takes place on Mars. A space colony built city, that would be difficult unless the theory is that the parents moved back to Earth.
the idea that joker is just straight up half-demon (or potentially more, bc genetics are funky like that) is fuckin incredible and honestly the fandom isn't taking advantage of this when we absolutely should be.
i know im late but what if due to the new timeline in persona 2 everything changed for example Vincent and Catharine meet around 2001 or ever before that that could also mean something which results in coming up to the events of persona 5
That's not a bad idea. The timeline in this series is so messed up. There is a lot of leeway.
Thanks for the comment!
Maybe I am misunderstanding you, but that isn't what happens in P4A. It takes place after P4 and the P3 characters have aged accordingly.
PQ does have some sort of time manipulation though.
Thanks for the comment. You are completely right. I made a mistake about Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. The Persona Q section still holds up though. Sorry about the confusion.
Awesome video my friend 🤩 I enjoyed watching from beginning to end +1👍
Given the technology available we know p5 takes place in 2016.
That is a good anecdote since the anime has its plot
Really? I haven't actually seen the anime. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!
Awesome 🙂
Some people say that he is related to the Amamiya family from the Star Twinkle Precure series.
I always had the thought that Ren’s actual parents would be Tatsuya and Maya.
Same hair color as Maya and same colored irises as Tatsuya.
This is like doing a research with an answer in mind and then try every possible explanation to make that answer you want valid lol
That... actually makes sense what the hell
Hey, glad it isn't just me. Thanks for watching!
I did not expect Catherine out of all things though I could see why
Keep it up 🤟
Few things worth noting
1.The Vincent in P3 is non-canon to either game, or at least isn't the exact same one as in Catherine. The biggest giveaway is the mole under his eye, and the fact that Vincent isn't Japanese. It was probably just added there as an easter egg to promote Catherine's release. Maybe a case could be made that an alternative version of Vincent is Ren's dad, but I think that would be a stretch.
2. In one of the endings, it's shown that the entire game of Catherine takes place in a space colony. Needless to say this doesn't really fit with Persona's canon, especially during 2009.
3. The Arena games don't have anything to do with time travel. The P3 characters are simply aged up to how old they are during the time of P4. It's true that they're all brought to the P-1 Climax but they all come from the same place and time. It doesn't really resurrect any characters either as far as I remember.
Thank you for the really well thought out comments. It is truly appreciated! You make a lot of really good points here. TLDR, I really don't think Atlus will ever allow this to be the case. They have said that the two series are not linked in any way.... despite the Phantom Thieves appearing in Catherine Full Body.
1) That is totally true. The drinking man in P3 is not exactly the same version of Vincent from the Catherine games. It is totally just fan service or cross promotion. I even mention in this video that the P3 "Vincent" doesn't line up, although I probably could have said it more directly. However, when time travel and multiverses are concerned, it could still mean that a different version of Vincent is Ren's father.
2) You are totally right about one of the endings showing Vincent's apartment is on a space station. But in another ending, Vincent turns into a demon and his apartment is shown in the demon realm. In another ending Catherine goes back in time to Vincent's high school and changes the timeline. Since time travel and demons are involved, and since Persona/MegaTen take place in a multiverse, there are lots of options for crossovers. You are right in that the space station setting makes it difficult for Catherine and Persona to share a universe. But since multiple Persona games see characters jump across universes, I still think it is slightly possible that somehow Catherine's child gets sent into another universe where the events of P5 unfold for Ren.
3) I completely agree that the Mitsuru, Aigis, Akihiko, and Fuuka we see in the Arena games are older versions of the same characters. But P4AU also talks a lot about P3's protagonist in a present tense, although neither version ever appears in the game to my knowledge. However, Shuji Ikutsuki does appear in P4AU, and he is legitimately dead in P3. I always thought the Arena games were similar to the Persona Q games, in that they take characters out of different timelines/universes. The PQ games outright state they take people from multiple timelines. Also, PQ2 has both the male and female versions of P3's protagonist, meaning characters from multiple universes are in one place. Finally, members of the P3 and P4 casts state it is different years in PQ2, 2009 or 2011 depending on who you ask. I assume P4AU follows the same logic. I'll be honest though, Persona's timeline always gets a little murky for me, especially when taking all the spinoffs into consideration.
Hope that helps to explain what I was thinking. But yeah, even Atlus has stated Persona and Catherine aren't linked, so this whole theory will probably always have to be just my head canon.
@HexenVexen The more I think about it, the more I think I messed up with P4AU. I was having a conversation about Makoto and Ikutsuki in P4AU, but I don't think either of them is really in the game. The Persona Q part still holds up, but you are totally right about P4AU.
@@KumaPlays I think you misunderstand, P3 and P4 both take place in the same universe. Really, all of the Persona games take place in the same universe except for P2IS due to the timeline change. The whole reason why the P3 characters get involved is because they travelled to Inaba to investigate the missing Labrys unit, and end up meeting the P4 cast there. It's the same P3 characters we see in P3, but now they're adults. They talk about Makoto's status of being dead multiple times, although they don't directly say his name. In fact, the main reason Elizabeth is involved is because she's trying to find a way to bring him back from the dead. It even acknowledges the events of The Answer in regards to Aigis and Erebus as well. The appearance of Ikutsuki is just an illusion created by Sho, he's not actually brought back to life. The PQ games take the characters out of the middle of their games, but the Arena games are legitmate sequels that follow the series' timeline. The characters all keep their memories of Arena as well, so in a future crossover the P3 and P4 characters would both remember the events (and perhaps we could even see some P4 characters join the Shadow Operatives).
@@KumaPlays The full series timeline, not including the "plucked out of time" stuff, is:
* Raidou 1
* Raidou 2
* Alternate version of SMT1
* SMT if
* Devil Summoner
* Persona 1
* Devil Summoner Soul Hackers
* Persona 2 EP (main characters still get Deja Vu of IS and some remember the other timeline)
* Persona 3 FES
* Persona 4 Golden (main story)
* Persona 4 Arena/Ultimax
* Persona 4 Golden Epilogue
* Persona 4 Dancing
* Persona 5 Royal
* Persona 5 Strikers
* Soul Hackers 2 (?)

You're wrong about p4au, the persona 3 and 4 characters are in the same world. It's obvious because the p3 characters are older. Otherwise, good theory
Thanks a lot for the comment. I really appreciate it.

@@KumaPlays Np, but yeah ikutsuki is dead but makoto is somewhere lmao
For p4 arena its not when he fight for nyx but taken when they have a job (spoiler you say all revive but where makoto )
Yea agreed
Thanks for saying so! I got a lot of flack for this video, but I do appreciate that some people liked the idea!
Plot twist ren is 9 years old
So possibly Joker's sisters?!
You mean the girls in the picture? If true, they would have to be.
@@KumaPlays That would make him inherited succubus blood.
cool
Thank you very much!
Just saying, if Catherine really is Ren's mom,why doesn't she go back in time to prevent her son from getting arrested?
Oh yo dawg that's a very good easy question the answer is dante from devil never cry Bayonetta from Bayonetta ta da good answer of my hey don't leave me hanging
That's a cross over I would love to see. Their child would be crazy.
hi this was awesome my friend, I enjoyed watching your video
Thanks a lot. Glad you liked it!
Duh, his parents are Kazuya Mishima and Bayonetta. Arsene/Satan is a manifestation of the Devil Gene, he uses guns and spells like his mother
i always tought that Maya Amano is his mother.
That's hadn't crossed my mind, but it is an interesting thought.
@@KumaPlays never mind ren born in 1999, the year of P2EP.
@@KumaPlaysI can definitely see him being Maya and Tatsuya’s kid. He has his mother’s hair color and his father’s eyes.
I’m late I’m late I know but whoever is rens parents they either had no choice for him or the suck and let’s be real if it’s the ladder ren is gonna take all the subway cash and move out
Really late on this, RUclips just recommended the video for me. But if this happens to be true, then picking Ann as girlfriend makes Ren someone with some serious mother issues lol
lol you should probably get your facts correct and research more before saying what you said 🤦🏻
