I was working as a game reviewer when Atlus sent in the press copy of Persona 3. No one on the staff wanted to cover it, so it was basically assigned to me. I wasn't interested in it; I played fighting and action games, not long, convoluted JRPGS. But it quickly changed my perspective about the genre. The theming, characters, modern setting, soundtrack... It was all so good. When Persona 4 was offered to me to review a couple of months before its release, I immediately jumped on it because I knew Atlus was on to something awesome. I'm still so grateful to be one of the first Western reviewers to cover those games.

you are a lucky one indeed... To me, i still wait for a game to touch me as deep as Persona 3 has. We are in 2019 now and aside from Skyrim, i haven't come across a game i put more time into than Persona 3 and enjoyed it. Now that i don't even hope for that to happen anymore, i only wish for a remake of Persona 3 in VR. Yeah, in VR!!!!!!

@@nindie5810 i dont mind grinding in these games but in one of my first few matches in the answer they paired up enemies with opposite weaknesses (apparently this is common) and completely nuked me before i could have the chance to grind

Persona 3,4,5 Spoilers ahead
Keeping makoto(p3 mc) "commercially alive" may make sense :
In Persona 3 Makoto was a messiah that sacrificed himself like Jesus to save the humanity and ignorant people that passively didn't know nothing
In persona 4 a simple human shows to izanami that the mankind has potential and people are half aware of what's happening since it's inside a TV world
In persona 5 the thieves play the role of Satan who rebel God to make their own path, supported actively by the people and since they somehow changed it's possible that Makoto will not be sealed anymore and as Jesus reborn after 3 days Makoto could reborn after 3 games in a possible Persona 6

5 does not happen in the same universe as 3 and 4. P1&2 were a pair, 3&4 are a pair. If they make a 6 then it will pair with 5.

Pure reference since no one talks about her. If we use that as a why to place the game, then we can say 2, and by extension 1, takes place in the same universe because 2 was reference a bit in 3 through the name of the 2nd P2 game being dropped and your's and the teacher's names in the rpg you play are 2 of the main characters. And if we go even farther 5 is even closer to the SMT games (even tho the series started as a spinoff of said games) since you can talk to demons, unlike in 3 and 4.

That's literally all she is. In the canon universe the protagonist is a boy/Makoto Yuki and Shinji dies. In an alternate reality, the protagonist is a girl and Shinji lives. It's the classic concept of the multiverse theory. The true CANON protagonist of P3 is Makoto Yuki

I loved Fuuka when I played the game, before P4, back in like 2007. I liked her storyline the best of all the girls, with Aigis' robot thing being second place only because I've seen other robots struggling with humanity story lines. Fuuka's bullying was interesting because it wasn't solved by her standing up for herself or one of the heroes coming in and dishing out justice. It happened because the girls knew what they did was wrong and believed they were getting a dose of karma. No one forced them to change directly, they simply realized they had done something horrible, and eventually became real friends with Fuuka. Besides that, I liked how she strove to be independent. Mitsuru was forced to be an adult because of her business family, Yukari had a dead dad and hates her mother (for little explained reason, despite me playing the game twice with her romance route I never really got why other than teen angst), which made Fuuka wanting to be helpful, reliable, and mature something different.
I'm not saying her English voice was perfect, great, etc (though even then I think Yukari's is just as grating), but in terms of character growth and backstory, Fuuka was unique even among her cast. Although, I'd still say P3's cast are more interesting than all of P4's. P4 has some really high points, but I feel like they went for more of an average with that game. There are less valleys than P3 (low points of arcs, story, etc), but in exchange P4 never really soars, it just sort of hoovers over the baseline.

P3P was my first persona, one of the best games, no, experiences I've ever had, after the battle with Nyx, I felt all the members of SEES became truly a family, even if the MC dies it was a satisfying ending... Then many years later P3 FES was released in the PSN "a new chance to play that magnificent game and now with an epilogue episode? Shut up and take my money!" yay, everything was bliss until I actually started to play it... Yup, the answer was not a good experience imo...

It managed to show us their sides that were not visible before in the Journey.
