I am a convert and the ten Commandments has meant a lot to me. They are a partvof what helped me to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.in the other churches I have attended they ( the members) don't take them as serious as we do. I feel much more Confort in my life when I am reminded of then and the importance that they are. I try to follow then to the very best of my abilities. Sometimes I do make a mistake, very small, and then I feel very frustrated and Repent. I always appreciate the Lord for His Commandments and teaching including the Book of Mormon and other teachings of the Savorior

Brother Jared…Your lessons, and insights are wonderful….I believe they should be, as you have dedicated your life to be a good teacher; and even more so to be a teacher of good. Over the past two years, you have helped me to understand and appreciate the scriptures. But what I appreciate most, is the Spirit by which you teach us….It is by the Holy Ghost that we can attain the truth of all things…especially these sacred works. I for one am very thankful to have chosen you to be my teacher…for I feel the Spirit of truth from your faithful efforts…even unshaken😇👍. Keep up the good work brother…we need your teaching….David

Brother Halverson is an inspired teacher. His unique training and his love for truth are important ingredients that come out in his teaching. Nevertheless, it is my belief that the reason we notice his effectiveness can be traced to a simple source. The Holy Spirit helps him remember the training and experiences at the exact time that we need to be taught a certain truth. My hope is that if I put a little more into studying the scriptures, that I in some way might be nudged by the Spirit so that my observations and study truly uncover truth-our ultimate aim.
Thankfully, Halverson gives us an excellent example of this important principle. The Spirit is the member of the Godhood who is given the power to spread truth most effectively. Let us let the examples and principles be given to us by the power of the Spirit so that we might teach one another the snippet of truth that we understand or have an “aha” about.

Oh my , Brother Halverson I’m almost 79 and truly I have NEVER heard a better lesson on teaching and delegation.
Not that I’m perfect in this method but this is how I raised our children, they are each responsible adults and parents. But I also see where I messed up also.
I have always wanted to be there for them when failure comes, an at times I didn’t know where to go but always to God and scriptures . The answers are there and sometimes we need that experience to learn.
Thank you so much your lessons have taught ME so much and how I love to search and study.

We can see the wonderful inspired changes in the youth programs where they have turned them over to the youth with the adults that are called now to watch over their flocks and give them guidance as needed. I have seen a great growth come from this, and now I feel youth will be better prepared for missions and college, this in turn prepares them for life and married life. Very grateful for all you are doing to help build the kingdom of God. ❤

The last half of the lecture reminded my of Skousen's book The Majesty of Gods Law..... God is so awesome. The Law of Moses is so under appreciated for it's just way of governing HIS PEOPLE.
The first half made me feel remorse for times I, in my callings, when I tried to do everything myself wanting to lighten the burden of my busy sisters.. I'm 82 and a chance to undo has passed. but I can be sorry for what I did.

Hi, Brother Halvorson - I am an enthusiastic follower of this video series. It has led me to personal revelation, further knowledge, and insights that come to me from spring-boarding off of things you discuss. You are an excellent teacher - I am far more prepared to build my knowledge and personal testimony, and to embrace Jesus Christ in all aspects. You've helped me with the tools. When I teach, I often remind myself, "I am a tool of Christ as I teach." This gives me clarity - no matter what I am teaching - and makes for a richer learning experience for myself and my students.

This has been a great lesson. I know that I have tried to fix other people's problems. And I came across a situation where the person really needed to fix her problems on her own. She just needed me to listen to what she had to talk about and then i would let her figure how she can work out the situation on her own. I do keep her in my prayers and let her do the rest.

I taught in an orthodox Jewish Girls school in Baltimore. Almost all my students, wealthy or not, had two sets of everything kitchen related, pots, pans, plates, silverware, cooking utensils, pretty much everything, in order to avoid mixing meat and dairy. On day one of my students was lamenting the timing of lunch and afternoon break because she had had meat for lunch so she couldn’t have a milk chocolate candy bar. There wasn’t enough time between the two times to eat. Some rabbis teach that you need to wait 6 hours between one or the other other; others accept 3 hours. It was very interesting to me to see how everything they ate reminded them of obedience.

I am sorry you had to go over the delegation and training section so much, but that is how long it took to get it through my head. I have been praying for energy, and relief. I have 11 kids, and keeping the house clean by itself is a project, but then include Track, soccer, mountain bike, choir, and orchestra I have been feeling the burn. My wife has been telling me that she is burnt out, and tired, I thought it was because she is pregnant. My wife has been telling me to teach self sufficiency to the kids, and I was too proud to see God's answer to my prayer. I thought I do, they just won't. However, now I see the wisdom in her words. So to everyone who thought that part drug on too long, sorry it was my fault. If there is one thing my dad taught me well it is to work hard, but maybe I need to work hard at training our next generation.

Hello Bro. Halverson Thank you so much for your lessons. I have learned so much and have gained such a better understanding of the scriptures and how they in unison teach the purity of the good news who is our Savior, You and your wife are incredible disciples of the Lord and it's clear that you are called of the Lord and are doing a mighty work. I know that this will probably seem off-topic but I was listening to you compare the children of Isreal to young children or more accurately foster children. I would more accurately describe it as raising children who have been traumatized by
C-PTSD with difficulty self-regulating. As I have raised traumatized children and walked alongside young adults, I found a couple of useful resources that I thought that your wife in her work, and those who have children that are dysregulated, that they and their children would find this information helpful:: both are on RUclips: Therapy in a nutshell with Emma McAdam and Crappy Childhood Fairy's Story of Healing Emotional Dysregulation After Growing Up in Abuse Anna Runkle, aka Crappy Childhood Fairy it teaches techniques to calm dysregulation or the fight, flight, freeze responses, including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, etc I hope that is information helps someone

I like the message of letting the youth try and fail. One of the problems I have as the "Outdoor Specialist" (formerly Scout Master) is that I could have a full head of gray hair before the boys remember to ask their parents when a good day to go camping would be. They do tell me they want to go, but I need them to tell me a date and place and I and any other adult leader will be there to support them.
For the most part, the problem I'm having is youthful forgetfulness. But if they keep forgetting, they'll get through their teen years not having spent any of the time with their friends doing the outdoor stuff that I know they like doing and building those relationships like what I have with my friends (where we now, as adults, stay in touch and also take some time and have a guy's trip every couple of years.)

I should add, that once we do get scheduled and make it out to the campsite, I give them generally free reign to do what they want to do, with some guidance, such as reminders it's easier to put up a tent in daylight, cooking fires take longer to get hot, etc.
But the other thing I learned from Scouting (having gone through Wood Badge), is that the teaching process is E.D.G.E. (Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, Enable), and I'll go through the Explain and Demonstrate process on the first campout, then Guide and Enable them on subsequent campouts.

1:13:30 -- you talked about leading "only 10." Made me think of Doctrine and Covenants 18:15 "And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!"

I didn't realize I'm having a Faith crisis, but I am. I have had so many painful church people expirences that I am barely hanging on. When there is no trust seeking support within the ward boundaries is not an option. It is true that some people that have come to you could have been helped closer to home, or is it? Not all people know how to sucker. Your faith elicits faith and trust. I can feel your lessons rebuilding hope and faith in my heart. Thank you for being you.

There are times when we have to trust in Heavenly Father and Christ. There was a time in my life that I went to church for Christ and no one else because of injury others inflicted upon me. It makes me rely on Him much more and not trust in the arm of the flesh. Trusting again is not an option but healing through Christ is.

I also have followed you from the beginning. I had a scritorian as a father who also was a teacher. I learned a lot from him but the depth and inside you are sharing is priceless. I finally understand “feasting on the scriptures” I enjoy the lengths of these lessons. I learn soooo much. Thank you for all your sacrifices to provide these for us. You mentioned a family who took in foster children. We did too and have adopted all 6 . Would you pass on my contact info. I would love to speak with them and find out what has worked for them.

At abt 53 min!!! Mine was tying shoes!! Got so frustrated with the 2nd oldest once {abt kindergarten}... I literally told him I wouldn't be able have me come to school to re-tye his shoe laces when he played sports and he surely would be embarrassed if he didn't learn it himself!! We worked together and finally he got it... They have GOT TO WORK at figuring it out themselves or they'll never grow up and even worse... learn to "adult" themselves into independence. My husband says it best: We want to raise "independents" not "dependents"!

Hey, I have had 3 brothers in the military
Mother had married in the couple military men, and WOW the things that they had to go through as after the world war and injuries
    Head trauma.
They just couldn't help her husband and he would have black outs, this is so sad but I just saw this love she had whenever she talked about him and he would be thinking all kinds of things and fighting with not only her.
    So, the law people made?
I don't know what happened but divorce is what happened
But he never remarried and they're love never died...
Yes that Quarter is a good idea to just see .
Yes, my sister's married military men
Others became members in the military and other types of service to the government of the USA.
    Then teaching others
Nursing in many ways, always loving God
This is why I just love your teaching style.
Thank you so very much ♥️♥️♥️

    Bro. Halverson,
I was listening to a podcast with Ben Schilaty (?) and he spoke about being in demand often for Firesides and such, and trying to balance that. He essentially said he never says no, but has limits on when/how often he does those kind of things. So he fits in as much as he can into the limit that he gave himself, and hopes that's enough. 💜

As for relying upon inspiration for callings.
A former Stake President (and Area Seventy, and Temple President) told the story of calling a new Bishop and his counselors. The new-bishop had received the inspiration he would be called, and pondered who he was supposed to call as his counselors. One of them, was inactive. I will always chuckle at that SP's words: "I was a scoutmaster for 18 years - I don't scare easily!" But that was who The Lord wanted as the counselor, and he returned to activity.

Hugh Nibley gave a great statement about the importance of the Spirit as an interpreter of scripture in his Teachings of the Book of Mormon:
“Their purpose is to overcome time; they are time binding.
Were it not for these records, you wouldn’t have had the case of Ammon and his brethren, for example. The Lamanites learned of “the incorrect traditions of their fathers; yea, these records and their words brought them unto repentance.” So the records have great value, but, of course, you have to have the interpreter there, too. You have to have the spirit, too. When the Lord explained the scriptures to the apostles, then their eyes were opened, they began to understand things, and their breasts burned within them, because he was there to explain them. We find out later in the Book of Mormon, he turns over the pages and sees that they have every book here. When he isn’t here you can read it, so the Christians and the Jews had the Bible after [the Savior’s ministry], but they never could agree on it. It was never clear to them after that was withdrawn.
    Nibley “

My only thought is that your comment on the three most ‘important’ people in any ward are the bishop, EQ President and the RS president is slightly inaccurate. I would say the bishop, RS president and the Primary president. They are the leaders over the Men, Women and Children.

How would I teach someone to desire to teach? Or how do I impart the love and importance of teaching rather than doing for a person to someone who seems to inherently be service minded? Someone who has voiced that they feel they’re only here on earth to serve others and want nothing for themselves, but I can see how they are capable of so much greater things and it would grow their life and those around them if only they would step into this?

Just got to your 3 most important callings in a ward. Would those callings of Bishop, RSP, and EQP typically be more teaching callings and the primary president, young women’s president, and young men’s president be more likely training callings? Just my perception.

The insights I receive from others allow me to be more receptive to what the Holy Ghost wants to teach me personally. One of the many resources I use every week is Bro. Halverson. If we don't learn from others (especially those who have made Gospel study a career), then why go to Sunday School or even discuss the Gospel with any other person? What we hear can serve as a platform for the Spirit to reveal the understanding we need individually.

Can I be honest? I am not a fan of the "Come Follow Me" manuals. There are too many that are still stuck on the old manuals that spell everything out for you in the manual and do not tolerate extra study or depth. It is a similar situation to what happened when the Purple Dinosaur was retired.
I am blessed with ADHD, ASD and Anxiety as well as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and a myriad of painful conditions that exacerbate my ability to clearly think at times. The only way I function is by following the spirit. Especially when it comes time each month for my turn to teach the lesson at church.
Far too many members are hung up on the broth and cannot tolerate the rest of the doctrine.
Oddly, I am overly anxious about teaching the Easter lesson this Sunday because you cannot touch one subject and not engage others. Every principle of the gospel is connected to another. One whole and eternal truth. I also feel bad skipping the other lessons and try to highlight points that should be mentioned. We should engage the fact the prophets of the Old Testament were not perfect. That the patriarchs were imperfect men, and that is OK. It means if we see members of authority stumble and fall they are merely men. It does not mean the church is not true. It means God has a work to do and is using imperfect men to do it.
I am grateful for your lessons each week. I use them along with scripture study to prepare the lessons. Sometimes listening to your materials 2-3 times. The story of Judah and Tamar was useful in answering a hard question from one of the members about what the brother's of Joseph went through to soften their hearts.
I was able to answer with the story of Judah and Tamar and explain Judah lost a wife and 2 sons during Joseph's time in Egypt. He saw his father suffer through it and then he got to suffer it as well twice and went through the death of his wife. I ended by asking if they can imagine the other brothers dealing with similar situations. It was uncomfortable for some of the members.
Well thank you. I am off to ponder more on the Easter Lesson. Maybe this will be the lesson that gets me released.;) Here's hoping.
