  • Here is the tutorial if you have got stuck in the process of updating BIOS of Dell Laptop.
BIOS is mainly the door to open a laptop or desktop.
There is a little mistake. It will be the VGA port and the LAN port. Where the LAN port is connected, you should disconnect that sub-pcb.

Hi there, I have E6220 and wondering whether I need to disonnect the PCB board. I'm not seeing anything similar, though. What do I do? Currently, getting stucked with DELL logo even when hitting F2 or F12. CMOS battery is disconnected. I have a feeling there is something up with the motherboard. Your help is much appreciated!

Just execute the BIOS firmware .exe file using a running PC with command prompt. Then take it to a USB flash drive and just try to go to BIOS menu. The PC will start taking the firmware automatically.
N.B. : Always connect the charger cable with your PC when you try to flash the firmware.

July 2023. My Dell e5570 laptop sat idle for 6 mos, after which the start button only gave BLACK SCREEN. With battery removed, and AC Charger plugged in, pushing start button gave only DELL, and hitting F2 or F12 multiple times did nothing. Then I replaced battery (I think mine had died), but with or without AC Charger connected, still only DELL logo. FINALLY I followed what another user did: I disconnected the regular battery, Disconnected the AC charger, AND DISCONNECTED THE COIN CMOS BATTERY, THEN Pushed the Power button for 20 seconds. That worked. After reconnecting the CMOS Battery and the regular battery, and pushing Start button, I got PAST the DELL logo into other screens that enabled me to follow prompts and reboot. In any event, thanks for your video.

Bro, which model do you have ? Is it inspiron series ? In Inspiron it's much similar. Just disassemble it and then disconnect the LAN port. Or if the LAN is soldiered, then just unplug the external USBs. Also brother, before doing this, try to execute the BIOS firmware using a running PC and just take the executed firmware into a USB storage device. Then plug it and go to the BIOS. Your BIOS will automatically start taking the firmware. Good luck.🙂

BIOS chips always check your system. Sometimes BIOS firmware can't operate correctly if there any fault over the firmware. So, the BIOS chips get a soft brick and can't read the system. BIOS is the door to open the system and close it.
It causes sometimes whenever someone tries to update the BIOS firmware incorrectly or flash the wrong firmware. Every update for BIOS gets some security patches and keeps the system secure. So it is recommended to update it. But any steps of upgradation, if there any fault, it may cause the soft brick.

@@undergroundnet3907 No. CMOS battery disconnection isn’t enough. You have to gain access in the BIOS so you have to disconnect the daughter boards to perform it.

@@undergroundnet3907 And if you have got the access of BIOS no need to flash. But if you want to update it, you can. As every BIOS firmware update gets many security updates related to the chipset, BIOS and processor.

@@FactHunters01 Okay. That means the firmware is not flashed correctly. You have to execute the BIOS firmware file and need to copy that on a bootable flash drive. If you start the PC, the PC will start taking firmware again. If not, then you have to go to a complex process which is actually a bootloader and you have to flash the BIOS chip by that bootloader. But try that bootable flash drive method first.

@@FactHunters01 Did you flash It's original firmware ? It’s because sometimes Dell has the same model but firmware isn’t the same. Try to open the PC. Then remove the Daughter Board and the CMOS battery. Then try to switch on the PC with RAM but without a storage drive and use the AC adapter to power it on. Not the battery. I hope it will help you.
