    Generally interesting, might have been helpful to include a map or at least mention what the eight stations actually were

    Amtrak originally operated out of Union and Central stations before Central closed in 1972. La Salle Street continued with the Rock Island. Dearborn had a small shelter called Polk Street for the N&W Orland run. Northwestern had its namesake suburban services on the three lines. Randolph still has the South Shore and former I.C. electrics. Bottom line is that most of Amtrak's trains were already using Union at the time operations began.

    Central, service rerouted
    La Salle, Rock Island service continued outside of Amtrak
    Dearborn, service rerouted
    Grand Central, service already rerouted to...
    Northwestern, all long distance service discontinued
