    For your information, top speed on that truck was 72 mph, as proved by Trooper Brown of Missouri hiway patrol. That was on 65 going downhill. Glad to see old blue back.

    Good video, I have a 64 GMC with a 305 v 6.and it's super heavy duty.. starts everytime and don't leak anything. Also 4on the floor with a flatbed all factory. I'm gonna lower mine upgrade the brakes and Cruze. So I'm glad that I'm not the only person that loves these trucks.

      Thanks Andy! They're awesome trucks! What are your plans to lower your 64? This one has a torsion bar front end, which poses a problem. Glad to hear there's another 305 V6 still on the road!!

    We have a 62 GMC. It was a 305 V6. Pull a mountian. It was a oil burning gas hogg. Swapped in a 283 with a 4 BBl and used a lot less fuel. I drove that truck more years and miles than any other truck we ever owned. We have owned several V6 GMC's over the years. One a truck tractor had a 478 V6 Toro flow diesel engine.

    Thought I saw the 4speed stick with a bull-dog, that right, my boss years ago had one that I drove, it was green and a long bed drop-side. Cool truck.

      @@UglyTruckExperience I liked my shirt. I'm a little bigger 6 ft 260#. The fit is nice and relaxed so many brands get tight in the sleeves. Grey seems to hold up the best for turning wrenches. White gets to dirty, black gets to hot. Maybe We can figure out a way to send you a photo of the 72 k10 I'm working on. It sat for 16 years when the owner passed. The family always wanted to restore it but it didn't happen. It's xtra cool because it's a CST. Mostly original except for someone put a 2 inch lift with hockey pucks and hei distributor.

    My old 62 GMC the ball joints became worn. After I priced new ones. I swapped in the entire front crossmember from a 63 chevy pickup. Got rid of the torsion bars and ball type wheel bearings.

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  2 года назад

      It sounds like that's the way a lot of people go with these trucks. The torsion bar suspension is cool, but it's a lot harder to find parts.

    The good and the bad of those old GMC trucks.... the ball bearing type wheel bearings.... it wasn't to much longer General motors started using roller bearings instead of ball bearing wheel bearings..... I owned a GMC half ton with that 305 V-6.... that motor was bomb proof....

    All that plastic in a new truck is waaaay better for the environment! The emissions might be a little lower but we'll see if it's around in 60 years!

      There is not a big block or small block V6 description. They where just a large heavy over built V6 engine. Came in 305-351-401 & 478 cubic inch displacements.

      The 305 V6 is a power house family had a grain truck that used it for power and man there was no stopping it. I actually like wearing rubber gloves sometimes on hot days I've found it draws out grease and grime from my hands when it sweat's and that ain't all bad. Good job on getting Ole Blu back in service.

      @@thecollectoronthecorner7061 There also was a 702 cubic inch V12 which was essentially 2 351 V6's connected together.
