    Aegon might actually be the MOST into dragons out of all the Targaryens. He cried more when sunfyre died than when his son died. Sunfyre was his pride and joy in the books

    The child Jaehaerys is not his Grandson it is his Great Grandson. I am sure they initially were going to do the head falls off thing, but other people prevailed and said no this is a child and we are not going to do that.
    Otto actually did propose that Rhaenyra should marry Aegon. He did want a male heir, for stability, but also his own blood why he sent Alicent. But Aegon married to Rhaenyra would have killed both birds with one stone. After that was shot down and Rhaenyra had questionable children (though I am sure the Hightowers are responsible for those rumors), and then Daemon is anathema to Otto.
    But anyway really super happy to see Highgarden in the show. We briefly got a castle in GoT. Not even a battle.
    I think Otto absolutely knows about Alicent and Criston. At first he ignored it for a better time hoping it would go away. Now maybe he thinks she can influence Cole who is hand now. I wonder if Alicent went back to Cole for the same reason.

    I love the call back to the horse meme. Tyland being little Jaehaerys' pony. Being ahorse isn't unique to Tyrek, it's a Lannister trait. This is cannon now.

    While people were a touch upset about Cheese and Blood (I'd agrue the books were a bit over the top). I think Erryk and Arryk was done much better in the show than the books.. And thank fuck they got the fighting right, I was worried we would get another Aurthor Dayne lighsaber Jedi fight.. But this felt raw and brutal, the injuries mattered and it was short and passionate enough to work. I remember something about the living brother had a stomach wound and cursed his brother until he died (The non loving version of the fight).. Glad we didn't get that.

      We haven't been given enough to care about either character. Having the fight scene in Rhaenyra's room made no sense. We get another moment of Rhaenyra just being a weak woman as she's scared in the fetal position in the corner. You don't know who is who during the fight. People are still confused about who won. The scene, as the entire show, was not done well.

    • @burgunbeerd
      @burgunbeerd  Месяц назад +2

      I'm the number 1 complainer about not enough time with the characters and even I think we got enough for these 2 side characters to have a meaningful fight.
      Not knowing who was who in the fight was definitely on purpose. No one else in the room knew so why should we? If anything I'd have liked the winner not to declare the Princess because then it'd be even more vague.
      And what did you expect her to do? Fight him off barehanded? She's dragonless, that and leadership is where her strengths lie. Danny wasn't a bare knuckle brawler either

      @@leonrobinson2475 you may not of cared but plenty of others did. Why did it make no sense? Lol She was vulnerable there, best place to catch her alone and off gaurd.
      This has nothing to do with her being a women, what man would of ran at Sir Arryk in their Pj's? lol everyone would of been in that position, there's not much you can do against a highly skilled fighter in heavy armor.
      That's the point lol the fight was meant to be confusing.. We're viewing it as everyone else who came into that room.
      You strike me as someone who is never happy, the show's great!

      @@traviscue2099 The show has a bad habit of trying to give characters screen time right before they die in an attempt to make you care about them last minute because the show runners didn't do it ahead of time. It's a sign that the people telling this story are inept. No I didn't expect her to fight a knight and you saying that shows how surface level your thinking is. My issue is that the show runners placed that confrontation in her room for the sole purpose of showing Rhaenyra in the corner cowering. They continually make her a damsel in distress character and it is maddening. Not being able to discern which character is which during an on screen fight is never a good thing and it's ridiculous that some are trying to spin it as somehow being an effective way to tell a story.

    I feel like it has to be better than the book by default, because Fire & Blood is an in-world history book with dubious veracity. It’s not like other ASOIAF books where the characters have actual POVs.

    We have moments in book between Jace and Baela - not this particular conversation, but is said, she remained on Dragonstone because of him, instead going to Vel with her sister and Joffrey, and she also insisted they should marry as soon as possible.

    Episode 2 did a lot of good service actually to recovering how bad initially I thought the blood and cheese change was like seeing how sad the greens were did still work but I only wish that the assassins were more malicious like in the books and appear in the castle more spookily through the secret passages in someone's room and I really wish the choice was just like the book and not changed. The shows adaptation is great and I'm curious how they handle it even down the road. But naratively it's just slightly kind if weird that the king now has no son since in the show he only seems to have the one. And that's how we got in this mess with viserys not having a son so details like that just seem a bit odd. Unless they just all of sudden say oh aegons other son hi like they do with daeron LOL

    • @derrickj45
      @derrickj45 Месяц назад +1

      Daeron was mentioned in episode 9 of season 1 it wasn't by name when Allicent was talking her father Otto in his room when she says "I have 3 sons." A lot of people missed it or overlooked it. However, I do feel that they should have saved débuting the 'Dragons Seeds' after the battle of Rook's Rest, which is most likely episode 4, and used that screen time for introducing Daeron back in Old Town. Though I can see why they held back from introducing Daeron early in the show because in the books he doesn't do much of anything until late in the civil war and he was always kept distant from his main family in Old Town because Otto wanted it so for obvious reasons.

    Best scene in the episode (obviously) was Otto having his grandpa moment and getting fired. Rhys Ifans killed it (everyone did). This, and both the DaeRhae argument feeling like an actual argument between living people, and Aegon's moment of grief alone. I think this was better than the first episode, and might be hard to top next week.

      They should have but in the show, Arryk looked pretty disgusted at Criston's plan because they are trained to be "forthright" not deceptive. Even if they're at war, I think knights are still expected to fight with honour, which must be important enough, otherwise I'm sure Team Black would have thought to do the same.
