congrats! Great choice! The plastic plate that holds the 4 sensors can crack if you're a heavy player: rawk.ca/IMG_3340.jpeg Supposedly fixed with new kits, but mine had this problem and I didn't notice until it was already cracked.
Great video! I’m using the Strike Pro SE, but it’s going into GarageBand not Logic Pro. GarageBand isn’t picking up my hi hat. I saw you answer that question in an earlier comment. But I also modified my kit by taking off Tom one and adding a cymbal. When I plug In headphones directly to the module it sounds great. But GarageBand is picking it up as a Tom still. Any thoughts?
correct, the SP module doesn't have routing so it'll "think" anything running out of the tom output is a tom. I do this and add cymbals to my tom rims, then copy/paste the audio of those hits to different tracks.
So am I able to input each pad individually? Like once drums are recorded can I go back and edit and line up each hit? Or does it give you a stereo mix?
that's the way it's supposed to work, the tom outputs are just a stereo pair so all of your toms will record to 2 channels. I usually pan my toms in the Strike module to give some depth and spacial-ness!
Hello. Thanks for the informative video. Got the strike pro and haven't been able to get the midi to record right especially the hi hat. It just doesn't seem like there's a way to edit the midi numbers on the strike itself. Please how did you get yours to work? Thanks
you can change the midi notes on the module by clicking the "Voice" button, then go to "FX/MIDI->Midi". You'll see options to change the midi channel and note for any pad.
@@cleverdood I am also having exactly the same issue with the Hi Hat. A question. Is it possible connect the Strike into MacBook without the Scarlet ? I mean, just plug it in via USB and considering using GarageBand and Logic Pro. Many thanks

Great tutorial! Have you ever thought about try using Toontrack Superior Drummer 3?
Jompa I haven’t tried it yet.

Great video! What software are you using on your MacBook? Do you need drivers for the Strike Pro? Thanks!
No drivers necessary for the Strike. I use Logic Pro X and Reaper for recording.
Thanks for the video. Is there anything else I’ll need to interface strike pro to 18i20 to MacBook?
just a usb cable, and however many patch cables depending on if you're using the stereo outs (2), or individual outputs (6)

Nevermind.... question answered
Got everything to work, but now when I hit one of the toms, it records on two channels even my toms are two separate channels.. Haha

Hello Jason. Do you think the techniques you presented in this video would work with the Alesis Strike Pro Special Edition?
yes, the module is exactly the same. I am doing another video on recording as this one wasn't all that good!
