@@VioletOrlandi You both have beautiful voices. Thank you for covering this song! Any chance you'd do a version of Pippin's song from Return of the King?

As a card-carrying Valar Tier Petreon of the Men Of The West channel I’ll also add support for reading the books! The movies, master works in cinema that they are, do leave quite a lot out. Reading epic scenes from the books with the film score on as background music is also pretty amazing!

Enya’s voice is more haunting, which matches the mood at the ending of the movie. As beautiful as this rendition is, it lacks that sense of mystery. Perhaps too polished.
Okay, maybe I'm just weird for noticing this, but I love watching two people sing the same song together, because the WAY they sing is different. Just the oral posture alone is unique to each of them. I dunno if that's due to different teachers or vocal lessons, or if it's down to the ranges of their voices, but it's fascinating! Violet tends to be more rounded and with the jaw dropping lower, while Malinda has more...projection, I guess, in the lips, and the corners of the mouth go back a little. It's like different interpretations of the same melody come out in their faces. With Malinda, it's like a lullaby. For Violet, it's a lament.
I noticed this too! They both have different vocal tones. Violet's singing has a more dark operatic tone. Malinda's voice has a brighter sound. I love their voices together it sounds really pretty and unique.
In this case I would hazard a guess at having trained according to what their natural voices held. Malinda's clear silver bells lends itself to classical training, and she employs much of the sound placement and intonation, as well as the breathing techniques to her full advantage and tops it off with complete mastery of Celtic singing style. It is my first time hearing and seeing Violet, so what strikes me is how unprocessed her gorgeous voice is. Her singing style is very relaxed, allowing a ton of air through the pipes along with the tone, and this is normally accepted, even encouraged in jazz singing.

"And all the host laughed and wept, and in the midst of their merriment and tears the clear voice of the minstrel rose like silver and gold, and all men were hushed. And he sang to them, now in the Elven-tongue, now in the speech of the West, until their hearts, wounded with sweet words, overflowed, and their joy was like swords, and they passed in thought out to regions where pain and delight flow together and tears are the very wine of blessedness." (JRR Tolkien, LOTR - The Field of Cormallen)
“I have found that it is the small everyday deed of ordinary folks that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love." Beautiful cover, who put a smile, bringing old memories. Thank you both
Enya is very hard to cover because of the emotion she conveys in her haunting voice but you both did an incredible job capturing the feel of the song and her melody while making it all your own. A joy to listen to :)

Personally I'd suggest not doing the movie version, but rather an original song composed for Tolkien's original poem. "Edge of Night" as amazing of a song as it was in the film doesn't do justice to the song sung by Pippin in Denethor's Hall as Tolkien had originally written it.
