The reason why I really prefer MM&TBS is I just prefer the general sound of it more. I really like how Kendrick incorporates a lot of piano and orchestral sounding instruments throughout the album. It gives it more of like a cinematic and theatrical vibe that isn’t really common nowadays if even around at all especially in the rap scene now. I also like how it’s not only that but with songs like N95 and Silent Hill have more of a trap sound. DAMN has sort of more of an emphasis on that trap sound which I do like a lot. I personally prefer the variety of sound on MM&TBS though. Recently I have grown more of an appreciation for DAMN but I would personally rank TPAB, GKMC, and MM&TBS higher. I don’t have any problems with people that think otherwise though because my favorite Kendrick song is probably DUCKWORTH. Honestly it’s probably one of my favorite songs of all time so DAMN does have a special place in my heart. I also saw Kendrick in Boston a few weeks ago and DNA was fucking awesome live.
Same. Damn might be viewed as a classic now, but I STILL prefer listening to Mr Morale. It’s just so relatable and emotionally engaging. But I love how he’s only made conscious albums and yet NONE of his albums sound the same. It’s incredible.

5 years later and I can officially call DAMN. a classic in my mind. There’s not one track on this album that’s even below average. The numbers speak for themselves, it’s one of the few albums on Spotify with 100M streams on every single track. My 2nd favourite album from Kendrick. Can’t beat the impact of GKMC
This album is definitely better than MMTBS. Majority Kendrick fans hate it cuz it’s “too mainstream”, Kendrick makes TPAB and all of a sudden they swear everything’s gotta be so deep and woke LMFAO
I remember the first time listening to the album. I finished duckworth, and the first word that came out of my mouth was “damn.” Then I remembered that was the name of the project; that’s when I realized it’s a perfect album
Enjoyed the revisit to this album. I remember I listened to his whole catalog before Mr Morale and DAMN impressed me even more this time around. Honestly was such an amazing album
DAMN gets way too hate for being too commercial. I have TPAB as has best album and GKMC and DAMN neck and neck for number 2. Definitely the most bumpin beats on any of his albums and he gets deep on songs like fear, XXX, and duckworth. I find myself returning to DNA for the beat switch possibly more than any other Kendrick song individually. Love this project.

For me DAMN feels like Kendrick’s try on a hit/charting album. I don’t rate it as high as GKMC as for me, it feels a bit of forced in terms of hit making and it’s less concise than his other albums. Might be he tried to proof he is not less in terms of selling units as Drake, but failed a little. However still offers some quality tunes like DUCKWORTH, which feels more like a real Kendrick tune
