- This is me reacting to a volleyball match from the 2022 FIVB Men's World Championship between USA and Poland. This game was heartbreaking. Not everyone was performing well, especially Defalco as he was subbed out early on.
He's so hot and cold, man.

I watched this game live... I think in the 11h Poland point, Aaron opened up to attack thinking that Muagututia was gonna set, but Muagututia had no time to get there and set, he was just running to help bring back the ball after Aaron have touched it. I remember thinking: "Shoji must be devasted that after a dig like that the ball didnt come back" hahahaha
For me one of the most spetacular match of the tournament. USA x Poland, USA x Turkey, France x Italy, France x Japan and Brazil x Poland.

Hi Erik, great video of an amazing match! I literally had goosebumps watching this game, largely because of the intensity of the crowd. May I ask what the rationale is for sometimes switching the libero & OH's positions are when defending? Like in 9:55, you're in zone 6 while Garrett is defending the line.

This match was a special kind of "classic" - it was immaculately played and the fierceness of the competition was out of this world. It was also frustrating in a way that it wasn't even in the medal rounds of the competition. The loser should've deserved at least a 4th place finish.

There's no shame in losing when teams play like Poland did! The serves were indeed bombs, and Kurek got a lot of fast sets which made it easier for him to go for seams I think. I havent seen the other sets but even getting to a fifth seems like a really good effort either way!

is there a particular reason they had you play middle back this game instead of your regular left back?
This match I switched because I wasn’t happy with my defense in left back. So I decided to change
@@ErikShojivolleyball gotcha I thought it was a strategy decided from film. Since that change happens does that affect the way offense runs the bic?
It happened mid match so I started the match in left back and changed to middle back. It definitely can affect the bic but I spoke with the outside hitters and we decided on that. It’s all about communication

All the veterans were still solid, but the middle and 2nd OH/OPP are a question mark
team usa needs another OH with the mental strength of Aaron Russell it is not possible that in the final of the VNL and in the quarterfinals of the world championship it seemed that he only played solo without any support from his teammates

Sucks that Sander is no longer playing indoor. DeFalco is supposed to fill that role(?). Anderson plays OH too but they need that reliable Opp. Is the former BYU opp from Puerto Rico (Gabi) part of the US team yet?
@@RGisOutOfOffice Yes, they should try that with Anderson but Gabi will be able to play until 2024 with the national team and if Delfalco always fails in the final stages in the national team and in his Polish club..

I love team USA but muagututia… He was aced twice, miss a serve, a set, had two other bad passes in a tiebreak. Let alone he hit the antennae and out of bounds at the end of 2&3 set. Hope Thomas gets healthy and team USA really needs one more OH
