- This is me and my brother, Kawika Shoji, reacting to a match we played against each other! This is Fakel Novy Urengoy (my team) against Asseco Resovia (Kawika's team) from the 2019 FIVB Club World Championships. I started playing in a rec league post college, literally thrown into a game beacuse they needed an 6th player & learned on the fly over the years 🤣 which has lead to some wonky technique but I'm definitely getting better!

A lot of it is coach Dave (their dad). His resume is legendary (4 time national champion, 4th most wins in division 1 history, 2x AVCA coach of the year, 10x WAC coach of the year, 11 WAC titles, 85% win percentage as a head coach for over 40 years, etc.) and he coached his boys up really well. Here in hawaii, we don't have any professional sports teams so the rainbow wahine being a national powerhouse for 4 decades was just amazing. He's sort of a superhero here.
When you're playing in these leagues, what is communication like between teammates from different countries and languages?
Com certeza deve ser em inglês, pois quase todos os atletas e técnicos hoje falam em inglês para facilitar a comunicação diante de tantos atletas de várias nacionalidades.
I'm just curious with David Smith hearing disability how is it playing with someone like that? How do you guys work and communicate with him? I have watched him during the champions league this season and he has been amazing and he is such an inspiration. I'm sure there are people out there who would really appreciate anything you could offer on the topic. Love the channel btw
thanks for the nice comment! Dave is absolutely amazing! he really cant hear very well but still plays at the highest level. it is an inspiration to all of us! he is so good in every facet of the game. the one rule we have with dave is that if he calls for the ball you let him get it. 1. he is so good at making the plays he goes for, and 2. he cant really hear when other guys call for the ball. so if he calls for it, he gets it!

well its not exactly the same, but close enough I mean
Well haikyuu is created to be completely realistic with the exception of kageyama's setting ability and a lot of the plays in haikyuu are based on real life plays so yeah.
You should not feel bothered for using haikyuu reference when Erik himself reacts to haikyuu scenes 😆 Just do it!

Hello Erik, my name is Claude , and I have been looking online, but I have been unable to figure out how a volleyball player can qualify for the mens national team indoors.
this is tough to explain...but basically the coaches invite you based on what they have seen from your play. usually this happens in college.
There are some gossips about kawika will play in Turkish leauge. Is that true( I couldnt remember the club's name)

Used to play against my big brother back in high school and he was the one who motivated me to become a setter. During summer breaks his team goes to our school for friendship matches and it's such an awesome feeling to be able to share the same passion with one of your family members!
You gotta love all the insights you give us on receive and on setting, its such a great thing to see different view points and opinions from different players playing different positions. Love you dude, keep killing it!
