I remember driving home from work that night during the fourth set, only listening to the review on the headphones. Also im lucky i wasnt fined for speeding xd, cuz i definitely should have been for that drive. Lucky for me, mr officer was probably watching the game at home i guess
Both teams were amazing but to be honest I was extremely biased because I'm polish... How could I not be.. But anyways just wanted to show some love in the comments. It was a very interesting analysis. Lot's of love from Poland 🇵🇱

I mean our team was playing basicly without left wing. Kurek carried this match on his shoulders. Of course in tie break Kubiak also put down important balls but Kurek earnd MVP on that match

This match was insane, and is one of the best i've ever seen. It had everything and that's the beauty of volleyball. Both teams did an amazing job. It wasn't a semi-final, it was a final. I'm from Poland and i was super happy that we won, but jeeez, you guys were fantastic. At some point i really thought you'd win. We had a lot of problems reaching the finals and you were great throughout the tournament. If I remember correctly it was the only match you lost there (besides the one with Brazil, which didn't really count because you already knew you'd play in the semi-finals 😋)

I was wondering if you can talk about the scooping technique since you tend to be one of the few high level libs that don't use that compared to jenia or dustin.
That match was the early final. It was tough with high quality of volleyball. Many fans were disappointed with the final of that championship, because it was much easier for the Poles to win the final than this match.
It was out at 10:01 but there was a net violation by Drzyzga if I remember well. Btw, some time ago I saw Dustin Watten's video analyzing serve reception in this match. Both videos are interesting and really fun to watch. Greetings from Pl.

That -4 Celsius makes me feel like a wuss feeling cold in this 60 Fahrenheit Hawaiian winter 😅 The ball is moving so fast if it wasn’t for the replays I’d have no idea what was going on. What I can appreciate though, as a complete VB newb, from this angle is the synchronized split step (at 1:20 for example) USA consistently does when the ball is served. I’m sure it gets drilled into you guys or expected as “common sense” at this level but it made me replay it for sure, one of the many amazing things from this video 🤩 Hope you’re staying safe (and warm!)

good question. when you looks at the overall stats I would say most teams miss around the same number of serves. I support our philosophy and have complete confidence in our servers!
I think I’ve seen this tie-break at least dozen times and every single time it feels like the first time lol I have to admit that as a polish fan, our games vs Team USA are always one of my favourites, absolutely nerve wracking, you guys are such fighters and always bring a piece of solid, modern volley to the court. I was wondering if you had a team that you prefer or just don’t like to play against? (Like, idk, not a fan of Asian teams dynamics or maybe preferring to play versus big strong guys bc you’re used to that in Russia so it comes easier? Also, some teams use the two-libero system (one passer and one defender). I know at least one Italian coach who despises it very much. Do you have any thoughts on it?
@MasahiroYanagida08 Clear. It's just that, to my knowledge, liberos had been moved to zone 5 for better attack coverage. When the libero position was introduced, liberos first covered zone 6. Later, coaches figured that the opponent's zone 4 attackers, to whom majority of the sets were given, could be best defended by positioning their best defenders (liberos) in zone 5. But then I know that some liberos are so good that even when they are in zone 6, they can still defend the best attackers well. Maybe, Erik is one of the best in the world? 😁 Or maybe it's also because of the bick now being launched from the seam of zones 5 and 6? 🤷🏽♂️

Any tips on players that haven't been in a proper team? I'm a senior and I've only been in casual, recreational teams. Next year I'll be going to college and if I make the team it would be my first proper and competitive volleyball team. Love from Puerto Rico!
I haven't even been on teams that play with systems, and do different kinds of plays. It's just set the ball to anyone and try to spike it, and if not then oh well what can you do

I just watched that match on Volleyball World channel as they've been uploading WC 2018 matches recently. That 5th set must have been the worst set Sander has ever played in his whole career. I feel bad for him. But yeah, I agree with you Erik, it was the best match of the championships. Who knows, maybe we'll get a repeat at this year's WC?

It's easier imo to defend there, u are in the middle of the court, and u defend more
Since they are the best passers they can move and get the balls that the middles and outsides can’t get.
