Hi Chuck unfortunately not, if it wants to crack it will. A gradual drying process may help, I sometimes increase humidity by placing back in damp shavings. This can close cracks prior to finishing. 😃👍 If you haven't already, don't forget to subscribe to my NEW shorts channel 😉 thanks for your support !! ruclips.net/user/HarrySmithShorts
Very satisfying to watch and the finished bowl is excellent. Well done Harry. Yes, I have subscribed and will be looking at your other videos and waiting for the newer ones as well.
What kind of finish are you using? I started turning about 14 years ago, took a hiatus for about 4-5 years and have resumed. Was using a friction polish on just about everything but looking for other finishes.
Hi Karen, it’s nice meeting you here.. I’m Richard by name, it would be nice getting to know you better, if that’s ok with you? My mom once said good friends are never too much to have. if you don’t mind, can we be friends??
Great video. Well photographed and produced. Great turning for a newbie. You do need to rethink the use of the carbide scrapers. They rip and tear the wood fibers off rather than slicing them as with a bowl gouge. Can you tell I'm old school? The slicing action would give a much better finish, especially in a soft wood like pine. The resulting finish can be spectacular in pine. With much less sanding. Keep turning and videoing. Thanks for posting this fine video.

Hi D Fordham thanks for your question😃👍. I used Danish oil on this but think a wood wax would have been a better fix. What do you think?

This video had me nervous as hell when he turned on the lathe with a heavy, out of balance log held in place by four #10 screws
Thats the wonders of editing, if you look at 3:15 & 3:40, you will see all holes have screws. MAGICA!!!!! 🪵😃👍
