Gosh Marabeth, it's fascinating to watch you, and listen to your voice over. Being intentionally loose and open to possibilities can be such a challenge but as you've demonstrated can also be incredibly rewarding.
I totally agree-and what I’m always amazed with is how i always learn something new when I can achieve that open space. That openness is a practice within itself. Thanks for watching 😊
I love the painting and hearing about the process….I may have missed to but can you explain the reason for adding the scrapes of paper? I am so impressed with how you get all the different colors & tones from this limited palette and I learned about the poster markers, thank you!
I’m so happy to hear that the process video was helpful and introduced you to new materials-I get lots of new ideas from watching mother artists! I add scraps of paper simply for the interest and to lean away from being too representational. They are fun to experiment with!
Hello Marabeth, the colors you used and the abstract painting you created is beautiful! @4:25 you talk about classes that address how to create harmony in a painting ; would it be possible to know where I could find such classes ? I'm struggling with this subject and find it hard to choose my colors. Many thanks
Here’s a great video for mixing harmonious color by Louise Fletcher ruclips.net/video/rX1l7ti9UjE/видео.html I hope it’s helpful! Thanks for watching and for your kind words 😉
yes, I seal it with Liquitex Satin Varnish. IF there’s any water-soluble elements, I give them a quick once over with spray varnish to lock them in place before I brush on varnish.
I use a table that’s about 29” high-it’s a fold out that can be stowed away pretty easily, which I love. The height feels pretty good to me. Here’s what I use if you want to take a look (it’s my affiliate link, but you can do a search on Amazon for other things like it) Filbert amzn.to/42PGxWA
I like to use Golden liquid glazing medium, and you can also use Golden matte medium. These both work really well to adhere the paper to the surface and also blend in with the acrylic paint you might be using.

Beautiful!! And very helpful and inspiring. Do you seal it at the end? And if so, what do you use? Many thanks-
