Stayed a night in june '23, really cool old place. Owned by the Mathews family who live 5k up the road. The land around the buildings is still worked and they visit it regularly. Good hearted True Blue Aussie family who donated the use of the place to weary travellers to rest, explore, installed a dump point, there is a flush toilet at the back of the garage. Just great hospitality out in the bush. There are Bindi's in spring/summer so if you have a dog be wary. (check ya thongs too 😂) Throw a few bucks in the donation tin, someone has to empty the septics. Just a great place.
I love the old (Desoto) Dodge truck parked in the weeds. I had one just like it when I was a kid. Those old flat head six cylinders were really dependable albeit very slow!
Have driven passed thousands of times in a road train and always wanted to call in and have a look.its great how the mathews family have left it open for people to have a look.will stop one day
Trust. Im lost you dont get respect no more. I agree. I have taviled australia and the world. Im happy people still have respect. God bless ) mick wollongong.
It is amazing how this property hasnt been trashed. Thoroughhly enjoyed the tour.Do you know how long its been vacant for ? Was it being lived in when you camped there 20 years ago ?
Not sure how long now, can’t remember if it was lived in at the time or not. Was still being used as farm though back then. It was raining and I was on a motorcycle with swag . There was definitely no dump point or anything setup that’s for sure. Stayed st some great places on that trip.
It’s so sad to see what was obviously a thriving farm and now it’s all gone to nothing At least the house is still intact Is there another house near by that looks after all this stuff So sad our farming history just going to dust And you will remember it when it was a working farm 👍👍
Only in Australia can you find this kind of trust . Cheers to the owners. 🥰🥰👌👍🤠

Cool, I love those old sixes, years ago I bought a marinised one at a clearing sale, I can only imagine it was a slow boat…😂
Far out, it’s abandoned and still has a dump point; how good is that , this place needs to be preserved, it’s a treasure in the outback.
The owners keep it neat, they live nearby.
This is so generous, thank you !
Glad you enjoyed it.
Another great video. Cheers mate!!
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it.
The old skinny tyre between the duals is a grest idea stop rocks and roots getting stuck
Ime amazed that the house hasn’t been completely wrecked and vandalised after all this time, great to see
Yes maybe it’s too inconvenient a place for vandals. Hopefully it stays that way.
fantastic my man, cheers brother
Thanks for watching 👍🏻

Yep, a definite step back in time.
How good was that, hope everyone does the right thing, thanks to the owners
Same, it’s a great spot that is hopefully out of the way enough to prevent anything happening. Glad you enjoyed the vid

Excellent property back in the day, could renovate it all and move in🤠
Certainly could, it’s actually better than my current digs..
Noice! Been in Whyalla for the last few days, keen for an explore, no fricken time damn it!
Lots of cool stuff in that area. I spent a week or so there last year.
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide Yeah nice! I just got home, crazy freaking storms!
Great Vid. If you get a chance I would love to see some footage around Norseman having worked in the mines there in the early 80's 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, if I get time on the way home I’ll do a bit around Norseman. If not I’ll make time next trip over.
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide Thanks 😊

That truck is cool would be nice to see it restored is there any dams on the property?
I didn’t go looking for dams so can’t help with that one.
The extra tyre is also good for keeping rocks from getting wedged between the tyres
Very true, a pre rock ejector if you like. Thanks for watching.
Used to go past there twice a week to and from Ceduna .Mail run
Awesome, it’s a beaut area I reckon . Thanks for watching 👍🏻

Yes the owners live 5-10 mins away, it is a sad reminder of the days when farms were everywhere and employed lots of people.
It is a great camp but watch out for the mice in the shed , Loads of mice that eat into our camper
That sucks, was it during a bad season that happened? I’ve slept in a swag there with no mouse dramas but maybe I was at a good time of year.
Any ghostly apparitions at night
Nothing I’ve noticed but that doesn’t mean much. Thanks for watching.
I think that’s an old Fargo
They used the same bodies for Fargo and desoto, this one is a desoto though. Hope you enjoyed the video.
so who actually still owns the farm?
Same family still owns it. They live a few minutes up the road now.
