I did miss my dual screens, but soon adjusted. I actually really like being really lightweight - if I had to set up screens every morning and pack them down every evening, it would become a PITA. The space in the van is a delicate balance between convenience and practicality, and in some areas you make sacrifices.

9:00 - putting away, saving, investing is a good idea. It's all look bright and nice when we young, strong and have good job we enjoy. But ... there is a saying: "The only constant in life is change". And with the age we gradually become less capable of quick learning, we not as strong anymore. So I think saving and investing is a good idea.

AS WHEN YOU WORK AND GO BACK TO YOUR FLAT OR WHATEVER YOU SHUT THE DOOR AND THATS IT YOU NEVER MEET ANYONE . A GREAT WAY TO SOCIALISE AS SEEMS THE POWERS THAT BE DONT WANT THAT IN REALITY THEY WANT YOU SEPERATED AND ARGUING ABOUT SILLY THINGS, SO MAYBE THE START OF A BETTER LIFESTYLE FOR WORKING CLASS PEOPLE TO BREAK THE DEBT CYCLE?

For me, the worst aspect of living in a big van wasn't the finding of water or disposing of rubbish: you find ways of doing both after a while but finding of a safe, quiet and discreet parking space where you can stay for more than 2 days in a row without being spotted was, for me, the most frustrating aspect of van life.

Had one of these vans it was great but just a heads up on a couple of things that might prolong its life for you .
The ECU mounted on the right hand ,cab side of the bulk head is vulnerable to water leaks around windscreen sealing rubber which are notoriously prone to cracking/leaking at the corners ,ie - water into the ECU😞. Sounds like you have the skill set to deal with it but a bit of protection around it might save some hassle !
    Happy camping !😊

Hey Pete. This is why I went for the 2.5di, no ECU to worry about and a mechanical pump - had that rebuilt last year too. First thing I did when I got it was dealt with the leaks in the bulkhead and the panels around the bonnet and the mirrors, thanks to Vandog's blog, I knew just what to tackle first! Had kingpins done in the summer too!

Been looking for an LDV Convoy for weeks without any luck. Once two a penny now not so many about. Crazy prices now too. Never ever thought I would see the day when LDV Convoy vans people would be asking £4,000-£5,000+ for them. Ridiculous. Lived in one for 7 years as a digital nomad quite a few years ago. Good vans. Basic but rugged and not a huge amount to go wrong with them apart from the dreaded kingpins but as long as they are greased every two months they shouldn't be a problem.

By the time one spends say £1,500 on the van knowing it could cost another £1,000-2,000 to get it through the MOT before any money is spent on the conversion which could easily cost another couple of thousand total it up and for that kind of money you can buy a 5 year old van with a long MOT already on it with a much higher spec that ultimately will be much cheaper to run.

What a well laid out van, although I would have to have a proper sized bed, that's too small for me. I had a Bedford Ambulance in the early 90's that I converted into a camper. I had a wood burner made from an old calor gas bottle. It worked really well and got super hot. In fact I still have the wood burner and use it now and again.
I would suggest instead of buying a house, your man Matt should buy some land. Possibly with a small wood (for timber) and a stream to make electricity from a turbine. That's what I would do in his situation........
