Ok here's a short shit rant on baldis and vinesauce playing games before they're popular.
Baldis was (iirc) originally made as a shit post to make fun of jumpscare games, so you'd think it would get made, get 1-2 updates and be done with, but after blowing up like fnaf did they've gone and taken it seriously and made a sequel, mind you the first game is (arguably) not finished.
Vinny tends to play games and make them known, leading the games to be popular suddenly and bigger youtubers get in on it. I hate to sound like a hipster, but it's really sad everyone else gets all the popularity and rep for finding it/making it big and gets more popular themselves because of it, leaving vinesauce as small as it still is.
but do you really want the kind of people who tend to be in say the fnaf-community to come to this community
Baldi’s basics was very much not meant to be a scary game. It’s as much a parody of horror games as it is a parody of edutainment games. This isn’t a sequel, this is a demo for a single field trip that will be completed and put into the full game alongside others. Do I think the game needed 50,000 dollars? No. But if a college student’s edutainment horror parody game was done well enough to convince people that it was 100% serious, then he did a damn good job. Or it just shows how stupid people on youtube are. Probably that. Well, I think the game is funny and if he was able to pay off student loans with a dumb joke game, good for him.

I think he did the Kickstarter to pay for his bills while he takes time to work on Baldi.
I'm not paying off any loans with the Kickstarter money. :P So far the only college classes I've taken were either community college or online and I was pretty much able to pay for those as I took them.
2 years later and they are selling Baldi's basic toys at Target.
I’m glad for the Baldi dev. W/in the month or less Baldi got huge a ton of bootlegs sprung up trying to generate ad revenue on something Mystman12 put out as a free entry to a game jam. What would you do in that situation? Now it’s put up or shut up time for him, so here’s hoping he can keep to a self-employed work ethic and prove the haters wrong. Remember FNaF was 4 years ago, also one dev.

I think it would be cool if there was some kind of game that maybe requires the streamer to know their chat or predict what they are gonna do in some way or the other way around (chat guessing something the streamer's gonna do or vote for in some kind of way). Or maybe something that, like Twitch Plays Pokemon in a sense, requires the chat to cooperate with itself somewhat and maybe even with the streamer.
And maybe it sometimes just randomly picks a small number of chat participants to get a more in-depth bit of interaction with the game and streamer. I think there's a lot that can be done here.

tbh I think Baldi's a pretty neat game. I like the concept of a fucked up educational DOS game, but the weird fandom that sprung up around the game is kinda ridiculous, especially since it's pretty clear that it wasn't meant to be taken seriously as a horror game. I'm interested to see how the Kickstarter game turns out, especially with such a high funding goal.
The only reason Baldi got popular is because of Markiplier. Pretty much every game he touches gets infected by horrible fandom. Happened to FNAF, Undertale, Doki Doki, and more.

Tbf, the fandom of Undertale was pretty bad even before he touched. In fact it’s what drive even him away from the game because of how people kept saying *Oh, you can’t play this way! You to go this route first, then do this for that secret ending, then blah bl-* -ah blah, you get the point.
I also blame Game Theory for this one.

That demo he posted is not worth 50k, nor does show anything within the demo that’s worth 50k. It’s a fucking Mini-game, with next-to-no substance or engaging gameplay. Hell, it’s a type of game that /I/ learned how to make during my classes in game design.
A demo is suppose to show what the game could offer, to get people interested. I’d say it failed horribly in it, but I’d be wrong with how it somehow managed to get 50-fucking-k out of its blind, story-hunting fans. :/

It isn't expensive to burn CDs, buy jewel cases in bulk, make game boxes, and ship that shit. _ESPECIALLY_ since KickStarter can make the backer pay shipping if they live in a country with absurd shipping costs. There wasn't anything in the Baldi KS that was particularly difficult or expensive to produce. Shit like plushies, rubber/acrylic keychains, ceramic wares, metal goods, etc. are _much_ more difficult and pricier to produce. The $50k was for mystman's student loans, not the merch.
baldi's basics doesn't need a kickstarter to be a full game.
if the creator's just going to be adding more characters, more items, randomly generated levels, i don't think it's worth pledging any quid into the project.

Undertake was a bad game and created by a developer who is was way over his head thinking he can do anything, case in point Tony Fox used RPG Maker a game maker for below amateurs to make a 10+ tour game which isn't what RPG Maker is designed for and is extremely limited in what it can do. The music is fine at least. BUT Toby Fox made an actual game that didn't look like ass and is actually deserving to be paid for considering he did everything by himself. But the Baldi dev is some attention whore thinking he can a scary game (which it isn't) and has the balls to make people fucking pay for the sequel even though first game was free.

Baldi is the next kickstarter controversy waiting to happen if his game has any issues with development or the dev acts full of himself.
i think the dev is smart enough to wring money out of these kids and i hope he doesnt fail because that could get him a nice bit of money.

I don't understand how game theory manages to soil every game they touch. If they weren't so full of themselves you'd think they'd actually at some point, given the power they have over the dedicated fan's life choices (who, let's face it, were the main people who donated), told them to not donate to the obvious scam of a Kickstarter that is Baldi's Basics 2.

Vinny the new hollow knight DLC is out but it’s... well it’s just a boss rush with a little story in there. There’s no reward for it except a stand-alone boss rush mode you unlock by doing the boss rush IN the normal game

People get that it's supposed to be low quality. That isn't people's issue with it. It's similar to that of FNaF, DDLC and Bendy and the Dink Machine in that it attracts obnoxious youngins who take the novelty, step on it, shit into its mouth and drag it through the mud. I partially blame Game Theory for giving it exposure.

It's not the exposure itself that's bad. It's the mentality of the following it now has. Baldi was a joke. Beyond that it holds effectively no notable substance. However now that its gained its own kiddo lore train it can no longer be treated as such without people rabidly defending it for something it was never meant to be.
I'm simply pointing out 'why' people don't like that. It's annoying. I'm not looking to gain anything, just to articulate a side of an argument that people tend not to bother with.
I have no real ppinion on it other than: It is a more complete demo than what most video game kickstarters offer.

Chat game: It’s a good concept and I think with either extreme tuning and some additions or just a new kind of game using the same fuel (emotes) it could be pretty amazing for streamers or just a good meme party game if you have a lot of people you know I guess.

I actually really appreciate Baldi's Basics for what it is, especially that it was made in 48 hours, but wow this is shit.
I know it's supposed to be a minigame in the full game but it's still shitty and comes across like the creator didn't understand the appeal of his own game. Without the garish rooms & characters it can't claim to be _ironically_ ugly AF.
Plus it doesn't even make sense why you get killed, he starts chasing you before the fire goes out.

I'll definitely keep your thoughts in mind. I'll say that this demo was pretty rushed in many areas and wasn't quite where I would have liked it to be.
Also, Baldi shouldn't spawn before the fire goes out. Must be a bug in the demo.
Honestly I'm being pretty unfair to you in my first post and I could be alot more constructive in my criticism, so sorry about that.
I think what worked best about the original is that it's a simple concept but all the characters add to the complexity, plus the fact that none of them acknowledge that a teacher is trying to kill you makes it feel like a literal nightmare where you're friends ignore the guy with the knife walking towards you.
I feel this level could use some objects/animals/characters to distract you from the very simple goal. The bear traps help, but like the atmosphere, it's too realistic, and Baldi sticks out amongst everything but the fire.
I appreciate that you're looking for things to improve, I think alot of people had a similar reaction where they didn't realize this was only part of the full game.

I'm sorry dev of the repainting, but wow that was kinda atrocious. It was a clusterfuck. It's really hard to tell what's what, and if things were a bit cleaner I could absolutely see it being a better mod/repainting.

That baldi's basics game looked like garbage, I have seen endless LEGIONS of games like that on unity and even gamemaker. You're in a forest, it's dark, something scary comes after you. It's more unoriginal than a mobile game knockoff of "clash of clans".

tbh vanilla crypt of the necrodancer is pretty trash
it's not a good roguelike and it's not a good rhythm game, it's like the odd AAA game that tries to be everything at once and ends up mediocre to bad across the board (eg skyrim) except also not ambitious
