Seriously underrated channel. Thank you so much for this. I'm using your how to beat lynel video as well. I spent a big chunk of last night practicing the perfect parry and dodge on the red one on the mountain near zora. I have 4 star ancient gear so he don't do too much damage on me. I'm getting better at dodging him lol it's a work in progress but getting there for sure.

I'm not far from you.. I've been playing Zelda games since 1987
I got what I think is a funny Lionel story. The first time I ever beat a lynel was the one in the Coliseum and it was so scary that I stood up on one of the higher levels and just threw bombs at it. Eventually, I was able to beat it but it took about an hour. Although it was very satisfying, the gear that I got from it was very disappointing.

You will need this in totk. The spear wielding silver moblin is also useful for parrying/flurry rushing spear for totk. 😅

The first time we played through the game we felt the same way. But, we're also pretty good at figuring things out and coming up with strategies. I posted a video on some of the Guardian techniques that I use and also killing Guardians and other monsters like a palace at the same time using the same attack. Feel free to check it out. Don't forget, if you want longer buffs, cook your dishes between 1130-midnight on the night of a blood moon. As all the malice and stuff starts to float in the air, all your dishes will be a critical success, either increasing the hearts you get OR the length of the boost.

I tried this and didn't notice a difference... But i think i did it as the screen was turning red... So it was probably super close 12:00 ... What dishes are you cooking? Does it matter? Is it effective for all of them?
One was a3x attack power with 5 bananas, or you can get a longer effect if you cook four bananas and a shard from one of the dragons horns… the other was a 3x defense boost made with five iron shrooms or you can make four iron shrooms and a shard from one of the dragons horns, and it will be a longer duration…. I like to use the barbarian armor and eat the defense boost…and probably a 3x movement speed boost by cooking up five lotus seeds, or you can cook up four lotus seeds and a shard from the dragons horns, and it will be a longer duration😉
Hey, wanted to give you a tip, though I'm sure you know this. You really don't need to use parry attacks to defeat a Lynel, as you can defeat one without even getting touched or even worrying about it. Always, and I mean ALWAYS, have the Barbarian outfit, a multi-shot bow (or at the very least a quick shot bow), and at least one attack-boost meal. If you have Stasis+, approach the Lynel by paragliding. Then land directly in front of it. Freeze the Lynel with Stasis, then shoot it directly in the face. Approach it by sprinting towards it with a strong 2-handed weapon, and tap Y, and Y again. This is a slide-attack combo. If you do this quick enough, you will see a prompt to allow you to mount it by pressing A. Do so. Repeating hit Y until the Lynel bucks you off, and as soon as it does, enter bullet-time and shoot it in the back of the neck. Not the head but the neck, as this is a "critical hit" (a direct hit in a sub-bosses weak point), and will do the most damage without even risking getting touched by the Lynel. If you don't feel comfortable with this approach, grab your multi-shot bow and Bomb arrows. Use Stasis on the Lynel, then use Revali's Gale to propel yourself and enter bullet time right after, and finally fire as many arrows as you can. Both of these processes are rinse and repeat, but are the most effective yet time-saving method to beating any Lynel. Hopes this helps anyone!
Hi, You failed to point out that with the ancient shield you buy from the lab, You just have to hold it so the guardian laser hits the middle of it & it will be sent back at it. Never get caught using it in a side way position, because if it hits the side of the shield it will not work & it will break the shield & damage you. I have completed BOTW twice during the past 2 years. I also find the easiest way to defeat sky guardians, is to glide down on them, so you can hit the circle on top of them with a ancient arrow for 1 shot kill. There head wabbles to much to rely on ancient shield sending laser attack back at them. The Lynel 5 shot bow with shock arrows works best at stunning & damaging guardian stalkers.
If you don’t parry the laser it damages your shield. That’s why people parry because it also doesn’t use damage on the shield. Another thing beating botw twice in 2 years is not impressive
Another 60+ guy here. I'm enjoying your videos a lot and have learned quite a bit. Thanks! I remember when I first started playing and I would give Guardians the wide berth. Now they are a simply an annoyance.
I take out stalkers by first chopping off their legs and then depending on how many hit points they have left drop them with a couple of regular arrows to the eye or underbelly. If they have more than half of their hit points left, I go with an ancient arrow. If you chop their legs off before you drop them, you get a lot of ancient parts plus those when they die. I only need 30-40 seconds to finish them off, so I don't see that as too long to farm that many ancient parts.
Run up with an Ancient Shield to start off, as you don't need to parry laser blasts with precision timing (though it does look cooler it isn't necessary) when you are using it, and then chop off it's legs. This can save you 10 full seconds, as 1 hit from their own blasts takes away 1/4th of their health

Tip: the ancient shield will send the guardian beam back at it without the parry, it chews up the durability but is a good way to practice
But it’s not really practice. The ancient shield reflects automatically. The only to practice…is to actually practice. I had that shield for a year before I knew that. 😂
If you play in Master mode, these walking ancient guardians are a lot tougher to destroy: (1) they scurry back everytime you try to aim for their legs; (2) the parry technique doesn't always work since there's a random delay when they shoot the laser; (3) if you fail to exact damage on the enemy in a timely manner, their health regenerates.
I hate when they start moving back to avoid getting their legs chopped.
Oh, I just thought my Wii U was just straight up lagging, great to know it is actually Hardmode just being a pain in the backside and doing the random bean xD

you can use any ancient/guardian weapon to instantly destroy the legs of a stalker. Even the 10 damage guardian spear.
I know this video is a year old but im just so glad there are people who are still making BOTW videos and still playing the game. Im replaying BOTW for like the 5th time and i do have the guardian amiibo and they will give u cores but that would involve with a lot of time skipping on the switch and I wanted to get my cores like everyone else does. Great video, great tips.
There's actually a sweet little farm spot, but you need to finish the lomei labyrinth and don't open up any boxes. There's like 12 guardians that you can kill without having them activating. Also is you kill a guardian with a wooden bow of attack power of 25+ they will almost always drop a mini core.
NB: guardians can still move around with only one leg, so make sure you get all of them. also, the ancient shield will automatically "parry" a guardian laser, but only if it hits straight on. if it hits the shield on a diagonal the shield will break in one shot, so be warned.
honestly, if you aren't on master mode, it's easier to just parry the beam. Use the ancient or Hylian shield to give the best defense, and it's really simple. The ancient shield looks kinda cool, but in my experience, the hylian shield is way easier to get, and it's just better in general. If you just follow the parry timing he gives in the video, you can easily kill them with even a pot lid. You will probably die a few times before you get the timing right, but it's by far the easiest way until you can just charge attack them with an ancient bladesaw. (I doubt anyone is gonna read this, but I had to get my two cents in) I don't care that BotW was released like 7 years ago, it's still a great game that everyone should get into.

My record so far is reloading 23 times for a giant ancient core. Really great practice for Hyrule Castle. Keep doing what you're doing Shari. Great information without watching a 45 minute video that gives only half as much information.
I just love everything you've done! Thank you! I am 73 and I got hooked with the very first Zelda game: The Legend of Zelda in the 1980's. Things have REALLY changed since then! I love playing Zelda but am old and my reflexes aren't what they used to be--also your videos have helped me get unstuck when I can't seem to solve an in-game problem. My wife and I are 60+. We played zelda ocarina of time with our kids on the n64. We bought this switch a year ago and played through ocarina and majora a few times until I found Breath of the Wild on ebay for $15. We love it.
I finally got all my armor/amiibo armor upgraded. The helms were the last thing I needed. Knocked them out in 30 minutes. Thank you again for this. You're the best.

@@WTF-Gaming I sat in castle ruins saving and reloading on a few different stalkers until I finally got the cores. I think I'm going to go back and get enough for the ancient shield and the chainsaw sword just cause it looks cool. I was always so worried to use my ancient cores since I was saving up for the divine helms. I'm gonna have to let go of a crusher and that kind of stinks but I have a lot of them from lynel hunts.
@@insertmetalusernamehere That is usually where I go when I’m hunting the cores is in the castle ruins and in front of the castle plus just gathering ancient parts from the decayed guardians
Love your video! I really like chopping the stalker's legs off, considering how scared I was of them at the beginning. I didn't realize they might have the giant ancient cores, so now I'll be hunting them for those. One thing about the flying Guardians is to make sure to shoot them so that the parts fall where you can get them. I've lost track of how many times I've shot one down only to see the parts disappear into deep water - tho some will float - or over a cliff that's so steep that climbing back up would be too much of a hassle.

@@WTF-Gaming I started four days ago, and I beat the game just yesterday, though I really overprepared and got max barbarian armor, 50 ancient arrows, and all Lynel weapons. So I ended up beating Ganon in around five to seven minutes 😅Really bummed that the game doesn’t continue after you beat it though, you warp back to before the boss fight instead… I’m not complaining though, it was a fun game for sure!
You can cancel your slam and urbosa by hitting B while spinning. Stops the spin and the slam down
If you're going to chop it's legs off first thing, I would also be mashing A to collect all the parts that drop as you go, so they aren't just lying around & possibly getting knocked around. Also, the problem w cutting the legs first thing is you won't be able to shield deflect it properly anymore as the beams won't return to it's weak point anymore & will just slam into it's side for minimal damage.

Your tip on saving and attacking guardians until you get a giant ancient core is perfect. I've already got the ones from the shrines and they don't come back. I keep on breaking my ancient shield and you need the stupid giant core to buy another so this is great.

Well, the only problem with this is Guardians only have about a 5% chance of dropping a Giant Ancient Core, so save scumming isn't necessarily a good way to farm them.
It might be better to simply go around & kill a bunch of them in an area where they are plentiful, and just hope that at least one of them drops one. It is possible for a guardian to drop 2 of them at once, although this is exceedingly rare.

2:31 Crouching in grass works with Guardian and Lynels, to avoid being seen until you are ready
i got 2 giant ancient core drop with 1 guardian, using guardian sword to chop off the leg is faster than using ancient battle axe. and then use ancient battle axe to spin attack..love hunting those guardian.
4:47 i don`t know if i said it before or not, it`s a re wacht for me, but anyway all depends on your distant to the Guardian, if you are closer, as shown, you must be quicker, if you are farther away, the timing is later
You can also use for bananas in a monster extract to get the 30 minute buff too
I used to just parry the guardian blasts because I got pretty good at it. however, when I started Master Mode, they sometimes pause before the blast, which is suuuuuuper annoying. so I just learned to use the stasis, break legs, and arrow trick when stasis is on CD. I always forget to save though!!!!!!! haha
While this is helpful, with the newly discovered item transfer glitch, if you don’t mind being low on wood or one other material of your choice, you can convert such material into any other material of your choice (if you have at least one of them) in batches of 5. That means if you ever have at least one giant ancient core on you, just duplicate it! The next tough thing now will be farming for other parts of the

Yup! Stasis and then a lot of stabbing with the Master Sword (and then stunning it with an arrow) was how I took out the one near the Akkala Tech Lab during the Blue Flame quest! You do need the upgraded Stasis rune, though.

When hunting down guardians with legs don't forget to run and attack to stop them in their tracks if they are hasty with movement
My buddy got this before I did, and when I had him over after I got mine (year it came out), I blew his mind killing one of the stationary guardians with a wooden shield and parrying the eye blast.

When you hear laser shot sound... Press parry.
The Sky Watcher, it depends all on the distance and the angle you have to it. for e.g. it high up and you on the ground, bad angel, if you are in ca. the same altitude good angle, but after your first parry, they swing, what make it even worse.
Bad angle you must be 1-2 frame prefect for your parry

All you need is one ancient core. Once you have it, you can use the glitch to transmutate any items. However, if you want more than 15 ancient cores or you are a collector, you can use the floating item glitch to amass as many as you have the patience to repeat the process.

What's good about stasis with the Guardians is that after you have been doing damage to the guardian and it puts that laser eye on you if you put stasis on it, then when the stasis stopped working the Guardians I will reorient in another Direction. Usually, that gives me enough time to finish off the guardian and not take any damage.
Don’t quote me if I’m wrong but I think with the guardians when they start randomly shooting they are shooting in the direction they last saw you at least that’s what it seems🤷♀️
@@WTF-Gaming I find that the ones in the castle will turn and face the other direction. Then I will see them basically shooting blindly away from me.
This is easiest to see with the guardian turrets. I'll hit them from one side and never move. If they targeted me it will be after I hit it 8 to 12 times. What are Target's me I use stasis. I'll get about four more hits. Then it will turn its laser eye in another Direction and start shooting blindly. Using the master sword at takes 25 hits to defeat the guardian turret. So, after I use stasis I still have 13 to 17 hits to go. It is also 25 hits put a guardian stalker and Sky Watchers. However, this is with the master sword. If I'm using the ancient weapons with the ancient armor it only takes 14 hits to defeat any of these Guardians. Decayed Guardians take 9 hits with the master sword or, 5 hits using ancient technology.

Honestly, shield deflecting is extremely easy with just a little practice. I can't imagine killing Guardians any other way. No way am I wasting weapon durability when I can easily shield deflect. It just takes a little bit of practice. Once you know the timing it's actually quite generous, you can be quite a bit off with your timing & will still get it.

I wanted to jump in at the 4:46 mark…you are partying with the Ancient Shield…you do know you don’t have to parry with the ancient shield, right? It will ALWAYS reflect the guardian beam back to its eye AUTOMATICALLY. Maybe you said that already and I missed or just happen to be using that shield for the timing example…but it took me a year before I knew the Ancient Shield simply reflects the guardian beam back to the eye 100% of the time…except the flying ones. It will still reflect the beam back to the guardian, but because it’s flying position changes often, the eye reflect is not guaranteed. But the walking guardians and the ones at the castle on the ledges, will always reflect AUTOMATICALLY back to the guardian eye.
Yes, it will… But eventually it will break that uses durability😉

I find it’s easier to kill all of these guardians via ancient arrows by using a lynel bow or other multi shot bow. No need to aim at the eye and it still only uses one arrow from your inventory.

I find the skywalkers and turrets much more likely to drop them. The stalkers seem hit and miss.
I'm a much more sneaky player - I get a vantage point and then just use 3 Urbosa's Fury shots.

The ol ancient arrow to the face technique. Its how dad did it, its how america does it
Honest question: what’s the difference between save-scumming and just menu-overloading and transmogrifying Giant cores? I mean, yeah, the latter is a “glitch” and with the former you’re “killing” each time, but it’s one shot to the face with infinite arrows (since you reload if it doesn’t yield a core); save scumming is taking advantage of the system too. …. I’m NOT saying one is right or wrong - I’m just saying, once you’re willing to save scum, you might as well save yourself the trouble and transmog. 🤷♂️
I dunno, saving and reloading just seems easier 🤷♀️

There's a glitch where you can push a static guardian far enough away from its spawn point and it will continuously pour out unlimited parts and you can do it to get max giant ancient cores. There's already videos on RUclips but many new players may not know so may be worth researching it and putting it on your channel too 👍🏻
Yes but you cannot get the giant ancient cores from the decayed guardians that you push, doing the glitch you can only get the regular ancient cores. They will not drop the giant ancient cores, but it is still a good glitch, especially if you want some rupees and parts 😉

If you cut it's legs off, it will automatically stun them. So if you shoot it in the eye, lop off it's legs. It'll keep it stunned, after you lop off all the legs prepare an arrow to stun them again. Then finish them off. It's what I do.

Lol I love shield deflecting too much to ever fight a guardian straight up :) What I usually do is shield deflect twice, then go around & chop off all it's legs w an ancient weapon for extra guardian parts & by the time I slice off all the legs it will die. That way you use no extra weapon durability plus you get all the extra parts from all 6 legs before it dies! And Ancient weapons can always break each leg in a single hit.

If you're using the Ancient Shield you don't even have to parry. Just hold up your shield and that's it
I may have missed it but do I need the ancient weapons to have a better chance at getting ancient cores?
I use my master sword when farming ancient parts. Free weapon. No need to destroy ur ancient sword.

Do you know if this still works when one-shoting them with Ancient arrows and the Great Eagle Bow?
An ancient arrow to the eye will always kill them with one shot😉 no matter what bow you have
Hello sir. I have a serious problem.
My Ravali’s Gale stopped working completely (no it’s not disabled in inventory), but it’s acting like it is.
Resetting game and all other normal fixes are not fixing the issue either
Can you see the icon in the upper left of the screen or is that gone too?

Double jumping does nothing. All other Devine moves still work as normal
@@WTF-Gaming by the way, it finally started working again. Gave it 24 hours being off and when I came back on it was working again. Must have just been a terrible glitch

I've killed 120 Guardian Stalkers in 3 days, Still haven't got a giant ancient core?, Not having the DLC.. Will that make a difference?..
Not all Guardian Stalkers give you a core.. Recardless if its a giant or small... I've got a few out the shrines... We all should know the respawn proces... You would think the Guardian Stalkers would give you something.. No that's not the case...
Are you saving and reloading? I usually try about 10 times per guardian if I don’t get one after 10 tries or so then I just reload and allow that guardian to live (come back to it later) and go onto another guardian and do the same process…try the skywatchers and do the same thing save before you kill it … if it does not drop, then reload that save and try it again … it is a very time-consuming process but try each guardian like eight or 10 times if they don’t drop, then just move onto another guardian… I hope this helps!
The Gardian stalkers drop the most ancint parts the percentage of getting an ancient core is 2.5% and for a giant ancient core the chance is 0.5%

It will but it will also take some durability from it every time if you just hold it and don’t Parry
I’ve been hunting them and I haven’t got any giant ancient cores it kinda shows how hard they are to obtain
I will try each guardian about 6 to 10 times if I don’t get one, allow it to live and move onto the next one and just come back to it … yes they are hard to come by, Hope this helps!
@@WTF-Gaming I managed to get em now by saving on them and reloading my game I didn’t know that really helped I’ve just been killing em all and getting nothing but ever since I started loading my game before killing the guardian I realised it made things easier

I think all I did was hit the jump button, it will cause you to either somersault or Jump off the back if I recall

I like parrying myself. But when using ancient shield does letting it deflect without the parry do any more or equal damage as a parry would?

I just killed 6 different stalker guardians, several times each using save/load cycles... and not one core. Giant or otherwise. WTF?!
Oh no that’s awful… save and reload 😜 I don’t know I will usually try each guardian about 10 times before I move onto another one, it is very tedious, but typically I’ll at least get one about every 7-8 tries 🤷♀️
But sometimes I just leave the area come back, or just go to a different group of guardians
I eat guardians for breakfast to gain strength enough to eat more for dinner
