Exactly, I feel anime hasn't been as experimental like this in a very long time and its all felt very safe. I really like the direction they took this in.
It takes an anime like Beastars to make you realise how many other anime are lacking in memorable cinematography, background music, and movement/mannerisms.
My most favorite part of beastars is when the art style or animation style completely shifts. My most favorite shifts are Louis’s past and the colored pencil animation for Haru
My most favorite part of beastars is Louis preparing to go back to the stage practice after noticing his injured leg, and the final battle. But another thing that hit me about Beastars is the high quality AND quantity of the motion. You don't realize how choppy anime animation often is until you see a series as smooth and lively as Beastars.
That bit about watching a first dance at a wedding to choreograph the opening makes so much sense. It has the flow and finesse in the cinematography of an Astaire and Rogers setpiece, but the overeager awkwardness is so sweet and genuine and just carries you away. I adore that opening...
As someone who read the manga before the anime started When I first heard that it was going to be CGI I was worried but knowing that it was studio orange I was happy it was them instead of the bastards that did Berserk 2016 but I was still worried on how I highly sketched manga like Beastars would adapt to 3D but studio orange surprised me so much with how they directed the first season sure not every scene was done masterfully but still true to the manga with some scenes cut but overall they did a fantastic job and I’m really excited to see the next and (my favourite arc personally) get animated Great work with the video so much effort was put in keep up the great work
As a manga reader , do you think that Adler´s play is foreshadowing on how Beastars is going to end? Legoshi being the grim reaper and Haru being spared her life for a little longer?? Sorry for bad english.
@@MFBERSERKER 2D would be great but it just isn't possible. With all those detailed backgrounds, 3D is inevitable. Rather than a studio that does great 2D animation combined shitty 3D, I prefer Orange.
Yeah, Spider-verse movie creators said something similar too! They said something went missing when comics are adapted into movies, so they looked into what makes comics awesome. And what an outstanding, innovative, visually festive movie it was adapted into.
This shows how much research effort goes into even a relatively short video...also I really appreciate the extensive list of both the sources and the titles of clips used in the video, it makes things much easier for viewers if they want to look something up. I've always been interested in the directing/cinematography side of anime, it's instructive to see which elements are unique to the genre and which are similar to regular filmmaking. It'll be nice if a future video talks more about this!
I have high expectations for season 2. Season 3 ... well I hope they can salvage it with good directing. The manga gets kind of wonky. More than usual.
I really REALLY want season 3/ revenge of the love failure to get better quickly... the last 4-6 chapters are top tier garbage in my opinion. I hope the manga goes back to it's original greatness soon XD everything until the back-alley thing was great imo so they just have to animate that stuff good/change it completely and i'm gonna be a-okay (maybe, I don't remember other big disappointments in the manga) Also season 2 will hopefully include the cut-out louis and bill scene from season 1
Bubble Buster perhaps the past chapters can just fill up 10 minutes. We don’t really know how it will come together, there’s a lot, A LOT, of moving characters in this. Kinda funky
@@bubblebuster9023 yeah. The best parts for this 3rd arc are Louis and Legosi having each other's backs, but that doesn't really salvage how untethered it all feels. Honestly I think the show is fine just ending after 2 seasons, because I dont think the parts about "real history" or the Beastar amounting to a glorified crime fighter is at all compelling compared to the deeply personal conflicts between species and sexes.
I'm so glad there will be a season 2 ! Even if I would love to see a sequel to Houseki no Kuni too... Both my favorite animes from their respective year.
3:25 I just wanted the 2d characters were animated with more effort, with a little more work. Compared to the well done animated 3d characters the animations of the 2d characters were poorly, they barely moved except through the mouth.
Eh, some and some. I think US companies have a really good grip on 3D on a technical level, but a lot of them are very close to Pixar style. I think it's interesting to look abroad to Japan and Europe for some different artistic inspirations in 3D.
OK then where is the product? I am in the United States. Where is your product? An don't say comic. We are looking for models or programs we can use. Like in a video game. Side stories. Skyrim level.
I hope season 2 lightens up. The manga's tone was not as serious as the anime's rigid direction. In the manga, the characters expressed emotions with squash and stretch wild takes. Even Lui. Every time he's annoyed, he had this hilarious Gintama-ish expression on his face. And you just can't unhear the image going "bakkaiyaro!" The anime made the characters act like pretentious pricks. They're not. They're actually characters akin to Kamen Rider goof balls.
Smo0thCriminal4 very stupid and ignorant to just leave it after a few episodes and labeling it as "furry porn", when that's not the focus of the anime. the show features guns, blood, action scenes, a murder mystery, kidnappings, etc and the few sex scenes it features aren't explicit and unlike 90% of other animes they aren't made for fanservice purpose and are actually relevant to the storyline and haru's backstory, which gets explained later on.
This is not anime. I don't understand while all these beautiful actual animes are being made or just starting with their first episodes, and we get Berserk 2016 furry edition.
@@housekinokuni903 Like the way you attempted to word, what I'm assuming was a question because, who knows? You failed to use English properly and punctuation.
@@daddoba2618 Also, "anime" is just a short way of saying animation since the Japanese borrowed the word from the US. Animation: The technique of photographing successive drawings or positions of puppets or models to create an illusion of movement when the movie is shown as a sequence. My great aunt work at Disney for 30 years and I'm a huge fan of actual animators. This is lazy, boring, money saving antics that is a insult to all animators the exist now and in the past. Only young children and the snowflakes would consider this anything but garbage. Is it ok 3d cgi? Not really, it looks quite awful but calling it what it is, 3d cgi and not animating would at least make it non insulting to the Japanese animation industry
This series blew me away in a way that no other anime has in a long time.

The inspiration for the dance in the intro is one of the cutest things I’ll probably hear all week
It's eye candy seeing how the animation is made from the ground up

I've watched all your videos on beastars and in each one you seem to nail every aspect you talk about and it's extremely impressive! Well done!
This show is amazing

Love your videos and love Beastars and HnK

Thx for the video,bro!

great video thank you for this

Thanks for your work!
I can't believe the Rilakkuma and Kaoru people made the Beastars intro!
Ahhh I was expecting you thanking your grandmother... Great and insightful video as always!
I really loved the color pencil part
Can't believe this channel hasn't hit 100k subs
Dammit... now I want to go and watch it again XD

Can you animator spotlight of ryo onishi, yuki hayashi, koudai watanabe and naoki tate.
I'm hungry for season 2. Does it make me a carnivore?

I want to! But I doubt I could do them as much justice as the excellent New Frame Plus: ruclips.net/video/kZsboyfs-L4/видео.html

If it does happen, it won't be for a while. They have BEASTARS S2 and a new untitled project coming up as well.
