- In this video, I read my first Brandon Sanderson novel, The Way of The Kings. All and all it took me about 3 weeks to read and I think he is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. 10/10! I definitely recommend anyone who hasn't read any of his novels to give them a try.
Yes! Everyone should read The Stormlight Archive, it's a masterpiece.
It is!
book 1 was a slog though , quite hard to get through tbh
Agreed! I can’t wait for book 5 coming soon
@@obvv7714Book 1 was the best lol, 3rd one was a slog
My fav booktuber is reading my fav book
I had such a good time reading it! I’m very excited to read the rest of the series!
I've waited many nights for a new video to drop, and it blessed!
I’m so glad! Sorry for the wait. I’m planning on my next one not to take as long!
I'm currently listening to the audiobook I find the world building to be going over my head at times lol I gotta say I admire your ability to not get distracted while reading!
Finallyyyyy
Wait is over....
I love your videos man
Keep working
You'll reach your target audience very soon 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much! It makes me so happy that you are enjoying them! :)
I love this video. I can't count how many times I've watched it, but your craft for putting a video together was simply flawless with this one. Not only that you convinced me to buy the same boxset and I will be reading them shortly.
That makes me so happy that you enjoyed my video!! It’s a great series and I’m so glad you got it! I’m super excited to read Words of Radiance myself so stay tuned for that video!
It's such a nice coincidence that your video popped on my feed, I just started The Way of Kings and I'm really enjoying it, I'm right after Kaladin's childhood fight flashback. Had to stop watching the video cause i don''t want to spoil myself, but your video made me feel real excited to continue reading!
Oh that’s awesome! I hope you enjoy the rest of the book! :)
i absolutely love seeing people get sucked into my favorite books. and the thought of someone reading TWoK for the first time just makes me happy, because what i would give to read it for the first time again.
Book 2 is definitely my favorite in the series. I can’t wait to see your reaction to that one!
I can’t wait to read it!
nah man this is the kinda life i want, from just first 5 mins I wanna live like this dude is
Cringey comment
@@GNICHO do I give a f? No
You can start! Go on walks, find special places for you, (if you like to) read. Find time for yourself, a specific hobby to do.
@@jessycac6311 the problem is, where i live there are literally 0 places to go, I've been trying to find somewhere but can't

I loved The Way of Kings so much that I read it TWICE....in a row 🤣
That’s awesome!
You describing being a bridgeman as "bridge making profession" is sending me haha, great video by the way
Thanks! :)
I definitely agree the interludes felt totally random on my first read. But on re-read they really add so much to the background and the larger cosmere connections
Yeah, I’m excited for when eventually I can do a reread!
You are becoming my favorite booktuber. I'm from Brazil and I'm already starting to watch your videos.
Thank you so much for all of the support!!
Just found this channel . This video was a really great study break . Cant wait for Stormlight 5
That’s awesome! I’m so glad you enjoyed my video! I can’t wait for Wind and Truth either!
First time checking out your channel. I got cozy vibes in the first minute or so, makes me want to check more of your content. Keep it up! There aren't enough book tube channels like this one, as far as I can tell.
Thank you so much!
Heck yes. I just finished Kings and am reading Radiance now as well. I’m motivated to finish it before your next video!
Fwiw Shallan is my favourite character she is so cool
I've been looking for a channel with this vibe for a long time, and by chance I found your channel through this vlog reading "The Way of Kings" by Brandon Sanderson (an excellent vlog). Your content is very good!!
and by the way, know that you are being watched
by someone from Brazil (Me) 🇧🇷❤️
That’s so cool! Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed my video!
I really loved the “Lightbringer” series.
“The colors man, the colors…” lol
so happy u got into stormlight! can’t wait to see the next videos
It was such a good book! I have already started the second video and I’m hoping to get that out soon!
I just found your channel and love your style of content. The montages of reading in different places is very satisfying to watch!
Thank you so much! It makes me so happy that you enjoyed it!
My first time here. Really like the style of the video and am enjoying your wide-eyed immersion into my favorite author. Very nice video. Can't wait to see you go on to more SA.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! I’m super excited to read more of the storm light archive!
ur videos are so cozy man ur quickly becoming my favorite booktuber. love that you give so many different genres a try instead of the usual booktok books
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your comment! If you have any book recommendations, I would love to hear them!
The Silo series is fantastic, as is Red Rising.
@@bpfsu I will definitely check them out!
Once you sci fi and fantasy are becoming your favorite generes, I subbed immediately because saame
That’s awesome!
Love the editing style of this! Always great to see new people getting invested in the Stormlight Archive. The Way of Kings is one of my favorite books of all time, but most agree that the second book, Words of Radiance, is the shining star of the series. I'm excited to see what you think! You've gained a new subscriber :D
Thank you so much! I’m so glad that you enjoyed it! After reading your comment I’m even more excited to read words of radiance!
Wow, that’s really impressive! Brandon Sanderson has such a rich imagination and so many great books. I’ve been inspired by that vibe too-I just wrapped up my own book, Archangel World At War. If you ever find yourself in the mood for some historical fiction with a twist of angels and demons, I’d love to hear your thoughts
That sounds awesome!
loved this video!! can't wait for you read words of radiance.
I’m so excited too!
For sure. I use to be true crime and history. Now with ASOIAF and Green Bone Saga this is my favorite genre. Love the videos buddy!
@@LetItBe16 Thank you so much! Now I really want to check out the Green Bone Saga!
I hope one day we get a Robin Hobb review 👀
I didn't get the interludes with the different characters either. At my first read. These little chapters make so much more sense after reading the next books.
Sanderson is a master in fore-shadowing. As he says: "Let the reader figure it out, and let them feel smart about it. Or blow up their mind" :D
I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one! Thank you so much for the comment! That’s what I figured and I’m excited to find out how it all connects!
Excited to see your thoughts on Words of Radiance, in my opinion the best of the series (so far)
That’s what everyone has been saying! I’m really excited to read it!
Go for you for getting through all 1K pages of the Sanderson world 👏🏾
Thank you!
Welcome to the Cosmere! Nice video and review!
Thank you so much!
your vlog motivated me to pick up the book again after putting on hold for a few months
That’s awesome!
Welcome to the Cosmere!
Few small tips: I'd recommend you read Warbreaker before Words of Radiance and Edgedancer before Oathbringer, you don't have to but it'll make the experience a lot better, also look out for the Hoid/Wit character.
What are those other two books about?
@@PeterOlszewski Warbreaker is set in a world where you use breath to manipulate objects and give them a commend, and there is the God King who needs to wed the oldest daughter of king of Idris, Vivenna, to prevent war and there's also a mysterious guy named Vasher who has a talking sword called Nightblood.
As for Edgedancer it's a novella and sets in Roshar and follows an Azish girl called Lift whose power is, as far as I understood, turning to jelly and sliding on the floor and she gains that power whenever she eats and she's always hungry and she tries to tracked down someone called Darkness, you'll see her first in an interlude in WoR.
You can either buy the novella or you can buy the book collection called Arcanum Unbounded where Edgedancer is in, and many other stories in the Cosmere universe.
Edgedancer is known for being a lesser great work by Brandon but still necessary for a certain reason to the main Stormlight archive series.
@@nathanbeer3338 That makes sense! Thank you for the explanation!
@@PeterOlszewski You're welcome, happy reading :)
Great reviews, I started reading game of thrones because of your videos
That awesome! I’m so glad you are enjoying them!
i really enjoy your videos! the camera work and the editing are excellent. i just have a request that try not give too many spoilers, because many new readers want to read the book after watching a video, and it kind of spoils the experience for them
Oh I’m so sorry about the spoilers. I will keep that in mind for my next video.
Thank you for this video Peter! It is my birthday next week and I have heard lots of people talk abt brandon sanderson so I might buy some of his books!
Happy early birthday! I would definitely recommend getting some of his books. Sanderson definitely lives up to the hype! :)
@@PeterOlszewski thank you so much! He has loads of books and they’re quite intimidating, any suggestions to start with?
@@Teamaster_T I have heard a lot of people say to start with The Way of Kings or Mistborn. I have not read mistborn yet but I heard they are great. They are a lot short in page count than the Stormlight archive so they could be good if you don’t want a huge commitment.
Love your vids man. Life before death!
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed!
As someone who read the audiobooks of stormlight. It's funny to see how different names are pronounced
it’s been a while peter! this is my first time hearing of brandon sanderson and i liked the parallels you made to george’s asoif. i found it really interesting that you did not feel fatigued while reading through the novel and it’s really impressive how his world building pulled you in. now i have one more series added to my list lol. this month i have been very sluggish when it comes to reading through pines but i have been enjoying it throughly, i hope you are doing good and can’t wait to see more :)
Sorry for taking so long on this video. It makes me so happy that you are enjoying pines! I definitely recommend reading Brandon Sanderson and I’m super excited to read more of it myself!
Man !! Sanderson is amazing. He basically inhales oxygen and exhales 1000 pages of pure awesomeness every day. 😂
That’s so true! 😅
Welcome to the Cosmere! Your new obsession!
It definitely is!
i believe shallan’s name is pronounced shuh-lawn. ik there’s a video of someone asking brandon how it’s pronounced
I coincidentally just finished Way of Kings today! A great entry into the series, but in my opinion it was not as strong of a start as ASOIAF and First Law (two of my favorite series). Regardless, I really enjoyed it and am going to pick up book 2 tonight. Also trying to finish all four books before the 5th book comes out this December!
That’s awesome! That’s my plans as well. Fingers crossed I finish all of them before December! I have never heard of First Law but it sounds cool!
@PeterOlszewski if you like ASOIAF I really recommend first law. Abercrombie is great with characters. Give it a go when you can. And vlog it! 😊😂
@@beckylanaway51 I will definitely give it a try!
You should make video about the other books. I also love your videos I’ve been subscribed for a while just wanted to say that you have been doing a good job for the content.
Thank you so much! I definitely will!
yes! i was waiting for this video
I'm on this same journey for the first time. Finished Way of Kings last Saturday, read through Warbreaker and finished it on Friday, and now reading Words of Radiance.
That’s awesome! How was war-breakers?
@@PeterOlszewski Absolutely incredible! I highly recommend it, it takes place on a different world than Stormlight with it's own separate cast of characters, but the two stories are apparently tied somehow and I'm excited to see where that goes.
@@realmsofreading That sounds so good! I will definitely have to check it out!
@@PeterOlszewskiwarbreaker is essential a required read for the stormlight Archive, there are a lot of direct references and direct plot points
@@patrickkavanaugh8482 oh no way!! Now I have to read it!
I love your videos so much!

Alright, man I have to ask. What’s your hair care routine? lol. I’m jealous. What shampoo/conditioner and hair styling products do you use? 🔥🙏
Awesome video, please do similar ones for the other parts
Thank you! I definitely will!
Great video🔥
Thank you! :)
Why not start with Mistborn?
Why start with mistborn?
If you can jump into the deep end, do it.
Was shallan part of a royal family?
You must be careful tho after book 2 you need to read "Edgedancer" and after book 3 must read "Dawnshard" (these are smaller stories but are important VERY important or you probably won't understand a few things) :)
Thank you so much for the insight! I will definitely read them in-between books!
Is the mass market paperback comfortable and convenient to hold and carry along with you everywhere? I am asking because I am not typically someone who will sit at home and read a hardbound book. I want to carry my fiction with me everywhere.
Since this book is so long it’s not the most comfortable to read but I love to bring books with me where ever I go and the normal paperback is just way to large. I definitely think the mass paperback is the way to go!
@@PeterOlszewski already got mine now. And I love it! Thanks 😊
I still need to finish up A Song of Ice and Fire and The Lord of the Rings before I start the Stormlight archives.
That makes sense. Both great series! I have honestly been thinking about going back and reread the lord of the rings!
Sir, I thought you were Adolin for a second.🤣
I was thinking to start this book but after this vid I bought it
Did you read Malazan Book of the fallen?
Sadly, I haven’t yet but I definitely want to check them out! I’m currently reading a few other books and the second book in the storm light archive.
I bought mistborn this summer but haven’t read it yet. I need to read some Sanderson.
You definitely should! After reading a way of kings, I’m very curious to read mistborn. I wonder if they are at all alike.
once you get through SA, check out warbreaker and mistborn. holy cow are they good!
I definitely will!
Stormlight is amazing! Just curious, are you in school in NYC? Your videos just make it seem like you got all this time to read AND live in NYC, just trying to figure out how I can also achieve this lol
Yes, I’m going to school. Also, a way of kings was so good and I’m excited to read the second book! Not going to lie had a lot less time to read than it appears in the video. I have a job, play a sport and doing school so I have to stay on a strict schedule if I want to have time to read. I’m taking other literature class so often I have to read other books as well. Thats why it took me three to four weeks to finish this video.
loved the video! also the notes thing, would love to check that out
Most of my notes are fragmented and describe the story so I don’t forget what more intricate things happened as well as what I was thinking through out my first read of the novel.
I really like this video 😊
Thank you so much! I’m so happy you enjoyed it! :)
you should read mistborn
I really want to! I’m going to wait till after I finish the stormlight archive though.
Shallan is pronounced Sha-LAWN.
Like “shalom,” basically.
Instant like
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Jasnah is pronounced Yasnah
0:11 hey thats me! Glad that you enjoyed reading the way of kings!! It takes me a while to get through these books because they're just so long. Currently reading some mistborn for a bit of a break before I read Rhythm of War.
Thank you again for the comment! It was a great recommendation! Honestly, just out of curiosity, I really want to check out mistborn just to see what it’s about. I could also see myself getting slightly fatigued by the story after words of radiance just because of how long these books are.
@@PeterOlszewski I haven't made a lot of progress in Mistborn due to life being a bit busy but it feels very different to stormlight, in a good way. It's a heist novel with magic so its a win for me. It chugs along at a nice pace too.
I love your vídeos. I Will start that series very soon.. u NEED to read folk of the air by Holly Black
I will definitely check it out! I just read a summary and it sounds great!
Let’s GOOOOOOOO
Sanderson has multiple videos recommending different starting points haha he doesn't necessarily recommend Stormlight over others :)
Oh gotcha. I don’t realize that😅
I luv your vidoes❤
Thank you so much! It makes me so happy that you are enjoying them! :)
3:56 Targaryen much? Could definitely get cast as the Bright Prince Aerion
You think there's only a fifth book to this series, cute.
Wait really!!
there's a planned 10, but there'll only be 5 published (the first arc) as of the end of this year
@@Tornnnado @PeterOlszewski plus novels between each book. so something like 19-20 total
@@babybalrog you are absolutely correct, but it's hard for me to group those in with the monster main entries since they're just so long
4:50 you look like Renarin
Malazan Book of the Fallen dude
I hadn’t heard of these books before but they look awesome!!
@@PeterOlszewski I hope you give them a try. They're certainly not for everyone, but most people these books are for tend to rank the series as the best fantasy they've read.
The books are informationally dense, the amount of worldbuilding is insane, the cast is huge, the scope is epic and makes ASOIAF look small in comparison, the writing is genuinely incredible, and despite the dragons and tlan imass, and and everything else, the books manage to feel incredibly grounded and realistic. I think thats because they're written by an archeologist/anthropologist. Like a character might die because of a dumb but believable accident. Like dropping a grenade. Or a full scale war and invasion starts over a seal hunting treaty being broken.
Oh and also it's called the Book of the Fallen for a reason lmao. NOBODY is safe. There are Red Wedding level events in most books and nobody gets plot armor lol.
The story can be really bleak but the books also make me laugh out loud a lot if they're not making me cry or have to just close the book in utter shock. Erikson describes his series as a 3.5mil word plea for compassion.
I will say, book 1 is the hardest and the weakest entry. Book 1 just throws you into the middle of a war that's been going on for like 15yrs and you're just expected to catch up on the situation. So if you're confused you can just keep reading or there are a bunch of readalongs or resources online if you're super confused. The writing is still great in book 1 but it was originally a screenplay that he turned into a book, and book 2 was written 10yrs later once someone finally wanted to publish book 1. So from book 2 onward the writing, structure, themes, etc is all just top notch mastery of the craft.
If you have any questions you can lemme know or check out my old malazan lore video lol
@@BooksRebound That all sounds great!
Is that your girlfriend bro?
I liked it but it’s really overrated
