    Trekking in Tajikistan’s Fann Mountains is truly spectacular. This 70km+ trek, from the Haft Kul (Seven Lakes) to the lakes of Chukurak, Kulikalon and Alauddin, is one of the best things we’ve ever done.
    We set off in early August, carrying enough food and camping gear to last us up to 12 days. Although the trek can be done in about a week, we allowed extra days in case of any change of plan along the way. Plus, we wanted to spend more time around the stunning lakes of Kulikalon and Alauddin (also spelt Alovaddin).
    This route took us to sparkling high altitude lakes, through mountain villages, past nomad communities and over passes reaching almost 3900m. We camped in some of the most beautiful spots we’ve ever seen. The trek was challenging, but utterly incredible.
    We’ve written a detailed account of our trek over on our blog (see link at the top), which makes a good accompaniment if you’re thinking of trekking in the Fann Mountains yourself, or just want to learn more about it. We’ve also outlined a whole load of alternative trekking routes and practicalities in our other Fann Mountains Trekking post, covering Iskanderkul, Chimtarga Pass, The Lakes Loop and more.

    Some of those trails look less traveled is this virgin trekking country. Beautiful scenery. You have a great website. Do you have an article on what gear you carry.

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  4 года назад +1

      Yeah, some of these trails are definitely less travelled. And thank you! We have an article about our photography gear, but not a specific one about our hiking/camping gear. We have packing lists in our Fann Mountains trekking guide though, and most of that stuff is the same as what we use - www.goingthewholehogg.com/fann-mountains-trekking-routes-practicalities/#fannswhattotake

    So cool! Seems like it was warm at times and then cold, how was the temperature? And how was the bug situation? 😅

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  4 года назад

      Hey Joanna! Good questions. It was always warm during the day but cooler in the evening and early morning, especially when we got to higher altitudes (although, one night the ground was freakishly warm, like we had underfloor heating!). As for bugs, thankfully it wasn't really a problem. The one exception was camping at Dushakha Lake where we had to battle some kind of massive horseflies for a short spell. And no rain. Basically it was near perfect :)
