I've had a DOL starter and a remote stop/start waiting to fit to an old machine tool for 18 months, because I just couldn't get my head round the wiring. I've watched both your videos on this today and tomorrow I'm going to wire it up, because now I understand exactly what I'm doing. I did a bench test of the starter this evening and it worked perfectly. Thanks very much. They're superbly done videos.
VERY COMPLETE VIDEO with enough banter back and forth to cover most questions and help even the most novice of handymen wire up a motor. Thanks for helping people around the world!! Your videos are superbly done. A request in the future...add into this an outdoor mechanical timer for scheduled irrigation.
Absolutly love this. A good refresher for me and gives me the ability to describe to my apprentices (I now have two of them) in much greater detail thanI can myself. Thank you to Jo, Gaz & TEam
This was a great video to watch and very informative. Only question I need an answer to is that I intend to add additional start stop switch to control my single phase 3hp dust extractor which is located about 10m away from DOL so what size of cable would I best use for this? I got the grasp of the wiring concept now after watching this, just unsure of cable size.
@@GSHElectrical 4 motors connected to different tables doing different jobs are all stop by a remote green stop button but a 1500 watts motor the fifth one is not connect, what to do? This big power motor has no remote stop button at all and the customer wants to connect to the existing stop button.
Hi guys, great video! Currently doing this on my level 3, but we've got an inch with the stop/start which we're struggling with. Will you be doing a video on this?
Joe and Matt, thanks for this. One question on something I may have missed: are the current overload contacts 95 - 98 always latching and so have to be manually reset? (If not latching then I assume the warning lamp would immediately extinguish, yes?) So, how is a reset achieved? it is cover-off and press a button or is there a time delay? I have a starter which seems to keep dropping-out in a no load situation and hence I'm trying to get to the bottom of what's happening. Thanks again to you both for the explanation.
Bear in mind though that UNLESS an OLR Tripped on Fault, the contacts 95/96 will remain "Intact". And contact 97/98 will "Never Connect" until OLR Tripped.
Just discovered your channel. What a great resource. Thank you! Is a 3 phase DOL Starter similar? I'm trying to set up a remote switch for a 3 phase extractor. Thanks

@@GSHElectrical thanks for the quick reply! I'm slowly going through your videos. Very clear and I like the way you ask each other questions to explain and review what the other said. Top stuff!

Some OLR will Auto-Reset themselves but some will require Manual intervention.
The auto-reset ones can be Manually reset though.

Can you please do the star delta and forward reverse video
Good vid
