I feel like RP plays of this could be super neat. Like, you pick a college, for instance, so everyone is a college student that lived underground for years. So when they come out, they'd want to stick close to home, so to speak, and close up and settle in their college - since they know it. Or maybe you're military people that went underground, so you prioritize clearing an area for 'the mission' or something.
When you disband a squad and reinstate them there's the RNG chance of losing their experience. Bows and arrows for towers don't consume ammo but they are weaker with same range as pistol. I keep one squad in car and dedicate them to search buildings with the special icons other than the "?". Police stations for guns/ammo, gas stations for fuel, Agriculture Icon for seeds and farm tools. I loaded up the Foot Hood, Texas area and was swimming in firearms and ammo. not alot of research though....took a while.
the white chevron icon of the squad members. Almost like a rank system private, corporal, sergeant depending on number of chevrons shown. several of the squads all had at least one before disbanding them. But when squad was reinstated they had no white chevron next to their name.@@CharliePryor

Eventually they'll be back in, and when they are, they have their experience still. Having a well-rounded camp with many people with experience is a good thing

I'm playing the Prologue now and I allready see a lot of improvements have been made watching your gameplay vs the prologue. Especialy the buildings that haven't been scavaged yet, they have no questionmarks on them which makes it hard to teel wether a building has been searched or not in the past. The game gets quiet hard quick. Also a pitty that the people won't run faster as soon as the zombier get too close. I would run as hell rather than holding my slower pace if I were them... Anyways, nice seeing your vids.
Maaan, if state of decay 3 has this kind of openess with their graphics and 1st and 3rd person options, HEAVEN!! I love this concept of being able to expand the base and keep adding to your community, just can’t do the top down game…great video though!
50:29 change driver så the one driver dont have the riffle, as you have it there only pistols shoot while driving and it seems to take a tiny bit for the driver to start use the range and shoot when stopping the car

is there any sort of macro command you can use to quickly put together a team and/or disband it, or do you have to constantly create teams? Like say a macro to make Squad 1, Squad 2, ect... Or would it really make a difference if you could?
As you progress in the game, your reliance on making and unmaking teams gradually goes away as your population rises. It removes that sort of task from being a large part of your gameplay. Think of it this way: when a colony is young with limited people and resources, people have to wear many hats. As you get more help, people can specialize more. Reduces the need to shift people around manually.
I don't know how far ahaead you are, but bow and arows are free when you man the towers, plus they don't use precious ammunition. No need for pistols, unless you have a lot of them. No tech required to unlock them. When you do build more towers, make sure that they can support each other, and have at least two other towers that can hit the base of the one you are building. Three bow towers, is an equivelent firepower of a squad with pistols.
I just started in Australia and it seems that the seasons are still northern hemisphere so, no, I don't think there's unique weather... _YET!_ I'd be really keen to see it added, tbh. But, I can appreciate how difficult that would be to balance so early in release schedule. 😅
You definitely overshot those walls - you should have make much smaller walls first and expand later. You actually want some buildings inside, while you keep deconstructing the buildings inside.
I am wandering.. when you lure enemies with car why dont use only driver? That will give you 3 more people in HQ to shoot :) if i am mistaken about that sorry :) it just seems logical to me :)
Passengers can shoot out of the car. It's also just time consuming to form a squad (gives you 4) and then split one away from them, just so I can have a defenseless driver

@@CharliePryor still, it got very close and you even got wounded. You’re wasting shooting time by running. Just prepare in a building and start maximise shooting time. The car distraction is great. I somehow never thought of that.

During that period of time, that cooldown, your guys aren’t shooting anyways. You can move during that timing, and it doesn’t impact the delay between shots. In other words, I would not be shooting for set intervals anyways, and I choose to move during those intervals.

I love this game.. I can't play myself because it's 2 overwhelming 4 me. But I love the concept and watching others play.

Very good point. Gives the car more range when kiting the hordes around.
It's pretty awesome in the current build of the game. You can repair cars for metal if you drop them off at base. Same with buildings and watchtowers!
