Here is an impressive audio detail on this album. At the very beginning of the first track Lonesome Street you hear a strange digital whip-like sound effect, repeating in both the left and right speakers.
I thought it sounded like a "magic whip" so I listened to the Ice Cream Man song, and at 2:06 there is the same sound effect. It comes just after this line: "With a swish of his magic whip, All the people in the party froze".
So the album actually begins with a magic whip! Hats off to the producer Stephen Street for making this much effort.

I was hoping for another 13 but from what i have heard so far songs on their new album gonna sound more like Graham "simple rock tunes" Coxon kind of thing.
Jazz Cat Yeah I got the same vibe. Maybe if they finished the sessions with Orbit instead of Street it would've been more like 13?
ClumsySandbocks if they tried to make 13 again it would shade in comparison. I think going back and modernising the Modern Life is Rubbish era is probably a very sensible decision.
You're propably right. It is just my personal bias against Coxon's music and my love for 13 why i'm a little bit disappointed. But maybe Modern life is rubbish from 40 yo guys is going to be fun, who knows?
Jazz Cat the album is more experimental than the tracks released so far show. I would say it's probably closest to 'Blur' if I had to pick one to compare it to, but it's got songs that sound like they're off of each of their albums on it. Seems like a good mix of their output.
