Currently have v plow - first plow. Half commercial half residential. The new arctic razor blade is probably what I'm switching too. If that center blade articulated, the F12 would be even more of a beast.
Definitely not a good first plow. We have a couple V-plows that we run along with wide outs on the trucks and snow pushers in our bigger commercial lots. I can see replacing some equipment with an f14 in the future.
I gotta say, I saw your vids on this plow when you first got it. Our company actually sprang for a new Arctic Razorback plow this past fall, and it is amazing. Love the scraping performance you get from it.
Plowed the season with F14. It’s had its issues. Dealer has been good (4 hrs away), Sno-Power never returned a call until dealer got involved. Transmission did overheat one night with 14 inches of wet snow. Wings are in need to redesign and cutting edges are worn out in one year. With all that said the production level was amazing. It allowed us to remove 2 trucks from the road on light snows and 1 truck on heavy days.
Ive seen a couple of these in Buffalo. Ive also seen the tractor with blower combos popin up here in 716, guys even have the stake covers Nick Bohner has. The 4 ft snowfall last year made me rethink how im attacking 23/24.
Just saw you trailer today in Monroe Michigan being pulled by a Kelly and sons company truck. Kelly and sons is a hood trailer place and the guy there is very respectful, that we’re I get my trailers.
Nailed the review 100%. Nothing to add. Spot on. Having a variety of options in any sector of a market is beneficial to everyone. Credit to SnoPower for taking those risks and forcing other brands to consider thinking outside the box, copying, or buying rights to new technology.
I agree that it is probably 30-40% more efficient and it is truly impressive the amount of snow it can move. My concern is that there is more wear and tear on the truck. 1200lbs on the front end is going to wear out ball joints and steering gear boxes. Going through 3 tanks of gas in one night tells you how much extra that truck is working. We all know snowplowing shortens the life of any vehicle, I am just wondering if the 30% gained in productivity is wearing the truck out 60% faster. Brian is right, the truck is a tool and you have to know your numbers so you can replace the truck when its time. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the Snow Godzilla do what it does. Thanks for the honest review of the plow Brian!! Huge fan of yours!
wait.. thats what it looks like Wixom right now? us in the UP are still under one million feet of snow. Shrinking my spring cleanup season from 2 weeks to maybe 4 days..
Brian great video. I feel like this all needs to grow on me. I use all Western plows. So it’s easy to keep it all the same. If I ever needed a bigger plow then my 10 foot wideout I would probably go to a mini loader before one of those
If I’m not mistaken, with ford, the front end between a 250 and a 350 are the exact same. It’s ultimately the payload capacity that the 350 excels in. Somone plz correct me if I’m wrong.
I picked up the F-12 for this season and I liked it. Took some getting used to and would agree it’s not for everybody. Very productive though. I’m glad yours has made it through the season without any big problems. That was one of my concerns getting a smaller brand plow. Having it be a first design model with a small dealer network. Everything has worked fine on it though.
The wet snow and wind combo was brutal this year. We also had freezing rain first before those storms which made it so slippery I had to salt some areas just so we could plow which I’ve never had to do lol
Just because its 14ft wide doesn't mean you have to use all of it on every storm. If its deep just use 9ft of it and pretend its not a big plow when the snow gets too deep
Great video and totally agree! The one downside I see is that the center portion if fixed in place and can't angle to either side to help windrow. if they can make the whole thing angle to one side or another it would make it a very appealing choice.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the 250s and 350s have identical front ends. The only difference is in the rear suspension. The 250 gassers have like a 1400 pound front axle rating.
I just have a question do you have a business insurance to recommend im from Rochester ny im sure it’s all different but just thought I’d ask just made my LLC legit now I need the insurance
I got the boss EXT, but I run with a big group of guys. it moves a lot of snow and is great for big parking lots, but days we get those heavy snows I wish I had a v-plow since I ran the DXT for a few years. I will probably pick up a use v-plow for the heavy snows
@BriansLawnMaintenance Umm... diesel engines have twice as much torque and pushing power mate. I have the same Ford truck as you and just added a new diesel to my fleet, you should try one before saying something so silly. 🇨🇦👍
I would never torture the front end of my truck with that. This plow is a novelty and this plow will not stand the test of time. Guys who do large commercial lots won't waste their money on this. I run several western vee blades here in Buffalo and beat the crap out of them. I would bend that plow up in 1/2 a season. Thanks for the honest review, Brian.
If you charge hourly it’s not worth it. Only way it would be worth it is if your are on a seasonal contract or per inch. But your beating up your truck.
@@jeffreykamke yeah but you have to remember the bean counters ste looking at hourly numbers per truck. Then have no idea if it’s a v plow , straight or that thing. They just look at the obvious per hourly numbers. You can explain to them all you want. Harry dick and moe with a junk truck is x amount per hour.
love the plow and was considering an F12 but there's no way my Cummins with 1200lbs hanging off the front would keep together LOL... what are your thoughts on the new Arctic pusher for trucks?
Hey Brian! I work for a County Park System, Milwaukee County in Wisconsin. I totally want to pass this off to our fleet management guys to persuade them! Thanks for the info on a 1 ton being the truck for this! We also use class b Kenworth/freightliner trucks for roads and parking lots!
you should run a rubber scraper un-bolt the cutting edge install comercial rubber edge put the steel edge over the rubber edge .I have a 8 ft.western pro plow it's 20 years old always have run a municiple style rubber edge it saves also ratteling your theeth and wear&tear on your truck. That 14 footer is heavy.
8.2 Boss with Wings took some serious time off of my schedule, I cut down a lot that would take over 1.5 hours to 45 minutes in 6-8" of heavy snow (Overnight prepare for opening pushes).. Not up on the snow power, personally I have no use for something that doesn't articulate, but I really just don't like the entire idea and think all the videos that Stan is tossing up with the new Arctic makes more sense but that's just me. I'll run V's with wings until I find a way to run an arctic..
That’s not even remotely true. We just got hammered with 33.5” of snow here in New England and the plow trucks did absolutely fine. And it was wicked heavy wet snow. Any 1 ton with good tires and the right blade will do great
This I would say is the business plow. Hear me out. U go into a lot. Bulk it out and leave and let the rest of the crew clean up behind u. Ie this plow married with a vblade. V blade goes in and gets the detail crap and final touch. F12/f14 bulks out the lot and makes money like an ATM.
Doesn't seem to stack snow that high(at all). Like a our Fisher 9'6'' XV2's with wings (stacks snow like a champ).. Just because of that it's a pass for us in Northern Vermont..
Glad it worked out for you as you took that risk already owning a boss. Plow or truck goes down you can always hook up to another boss and move on as you would be done for the night with no back up
@@gamerfarms9362 I asked the questions because after 15 years of using Stihl I realized how much better echo and redmax are. Was just wondering specific models for commercial

It’s not meant to windrow. I literally said that. Also, it scrapes beautifully, so I am not sure what you’re talking about. We’ve ran it for 50-100+ hours plowing, we’d know. 👍

Purchase the new Arctic sectional plow for trucks and test it out for us.
Brain what your ford truck a f150, f250 and f350? Thanks answer my question great video keep up good work
F350!
Wish they made their back blade better, super disappointed with it. So I struggle to try the front one.
How would you like it improved, just curious?
Like their 5th connection? That's a turn off for me, can't use the truck bed for pallet of salt

You're correct. Same transmission same engine. It's just the payload. I have the F250
Cool design, I wouldn't personally go bigger than the 12' model on a pickup truck. Seems hard on the equipment.

In the wet heavy stuff you can always leave the wings back and do a few straight pushes to have some openings to work with.
This is true! Although it still is difficult to ram through sometimes.

We’ve ran a full pallet to about a quarter pallet now. (500-2000lbs).
Just something you don't see on the east coast, alot of western and fisher dealers around here
Is there a good dealer to service the sno powers on the East side of the state?
Diggin the new hats. Where did you get them?
I forget where Liz got this leather hat. I can find out tho!

Look at how wore out that cutting edge is after 1 season.
Nice unit but needs to branch out for more dealers, just a matter of time before the size of these plows void warranty
looks like the cutting edge wore out quickly
