I would not care which one I get; I'll just be happy to have a pain-free back and not sweat hard and even to have a whole driveway clear and not just part of it
I think it really comes down to the operator and his knowledge of the equipment he’s using. I used a straight blade for most of my life, then had a v plow before “retiring” from plowing. The V was super cool and very efficient. I’m on the side of the V in this competition. Also, it appears the straight front portion of the f14 does not angle, I feel it will always leave a windrow in a long push, thus frustrating. I do like how it can angle in transport mode staying low enough to not overheat the vehicle. Great video Stan!
Running the V plow in scoop would have bulked off that area of the lot much quicker. Honestly running both plows in scoop would be the most efficient. Yes you will have to double plow a bit, but still quicker then winrowing
Stan that wasnt even match f14 is 6.5 feet wider than westren plow. Now get a 10.5 westren with wings .lets see what happens . That would be 13 foot wide roughly. Maybe even 14 foot wide. Also lets see the f14 bust threw an ridge a feild that hasnt been plowed this winter yet. Thats wear the westren will shine like a new penny in its elament v plowing. We know each plow has its own place of course. I love my 9.6 mvp3 on my 2002 f-350 supper duty 7.3 its a beast. Have 1300LBS sand in box. Talk about a beast. Your friend from north central ND . I don't like windrows 🙅♂️🙅♂️ if it's wet heavy snow, Ill scoop and bulk it but if it's lighter I'll keep it angled and used half the plow that way I only go over the lot once. After 10 years I can say western vplows are the best, westerns wideouts are my 2nd favorite.
V plow vs Snopower pusher is like a spoon vs a ladle. V plows still have there place they probably stack better and they open up roads better… I would say you are moving at least twice as much with ever pass with the F 14 pretty hard to complete with. But if you had 12 plus inches of heavy snow the truck probably Ain’t gonna move it🤷🏻
When vplow first came out. I remember we had some big storms and the straight plows struggled to clear a lot. They couldn't make it across the lot before snow just got to heavy and they had to back up take smaller bites. And I was able to push more snow and faster with the vplow. I could start my windrow In the v position without any problem in 14 inches of snow.
I watched your video of the Winters Cutting edge install on your truck and when it came time to replace my cutting edge on my Western V plow I ordered the same Winters Kit you put on your truck with the curb guard and I absolutely love them. On my second season with them and you cant even tell I used them except for the Winters sticker fading.
Being from Rockland Maine I have to say that fisher plows are by far the most superior up against any other snowplow!!! I might be a lil biased seeing how fisher plows are made right in my hometown!!! But I have run a lot of different plows and fisher seem to do the best and breakdown the least!! Pricey as hell but worth it!!
Dagum Stan! That F14 has some moves. I realize that everyone has thier favorites. Doesn't matter the size, it is how it is handled. But if that F14 is that easy to hook up, and the way it can be positioned on the road. I certainly think the money is worth it.
I'm glad you showed this plow off. Id recommend you tilt the blade to the side preventing that runoff since a sharper angle will help aswell as putting more weight in the back. I can see this plow being good with a salt box for some extra weight or some sand as I can see it bottoming out on entrances this plow would also be great for back dragging due to those sides
When we push larger and larger plows we are adding more and more strain onto the vehicle transmissions. Transmissions today are very expensive the repair and or to replace. 'Efficiency' also includes the costs of vehicle breakdowns and repairs. I don’t have to worry about depth of snow with my boss v plow. With a 14 foot plow I’d have to plow probably every 2 to 4 inches to keep up. Large flat surface you’re OK trying to go up a steep driveway would be very hard on the truck where a V plow cuts right through it without work in the truck. 21:03
I would be interested in that plow based soley on the wireing. After seeing the cost of replacement on the Western plugs. Do they make one for a half ton?
So besides the overall length advantage, there is a geometric advantage as well, a box 🎁 (f 14) (square) will always hold more than a triangle 📐( Western V blade). As long as they have similar dimensions. I had a 8' straight blade that I put box ends on and the held as much snow as my Boss Rt1 9'2" V blade. Everyone has to remember that the length measurement is when the blade is completely straight, when you put a vee blade in full hog, or v position it loses length, as does the snow power when you windrow with it.
Hey Stan it's Rocco from Connecticut another great video as always keep them coming there appreciated. That f 14 is definitely a game changer for parking lots.
Stan I have had a Weatherguard tool box for 25 years it’s diamond plat aluminum it has gone on multiple trucks it was expensive but they last forever mine is still in good shape and has not been treated well at all a few friends have bought cheaper boxes one has had to replace his 4 times and has spent way more than I did in total and has now finally bought a weatherguard tool box
0:01 is it better yes it doesn’t tear my stuff up when a accident happens after mind numbing long hours of work is it more efficient well we’ll see but I have a feeling that’s going to be dependent on lot layout traffic and sizing A sno power can effectively take what would be a sacrificial truck and make it a good long term truck that’s not going to have major frame issues from a plow install
I like it to be honest, a very nice plow. I would say its really well for the parking lots you guys do, but if we are looking at downtown parking lots i would prefer something a little smaller like a 9’2 or a 8’6 to get in between cars etc.
I work on arctic plow skids resurfacing them pretty regularly. I had a winter equipment salesman stop by and show me some of the skid blocks. Do you know how long they last before you have to change them?
Hey stan see how the new plow works plowing the sidewalk with to new trip edge and the ability to stay in the parking lot not jumping the sidewalk curb. You can also see how it does with one tire on sidewalk.
In my experience, Blaine had no chance, but at that depth, I would have just been in full hog mode with the vee. Knowing I would be going over it twice to clean up. When you windrow you usually use only half the length of the blade to prevent spillover in the high side and keep that section clean. I think a more "fair" test would have been Blaine's back blade vs Alex's front blade
I’m not gonna read through the comments for the simple fact I haven’t watched a video yet but I’m also kind of curious to see what your comments are Stan I don’t know if somebody beat him to the punch but I think Brian with Brian brian’s lawn maintenance also has an F 14 he seems to love it
V-plow operator failure! Even though I believe in that scenario the other plow would be faster. There are also many scenarios where the v-plow would have the advantage. My preference is the boss 9’2” with the add on wings, clears a 11’ path. I think the western makes a 9’6” v-plow, but not sure if they have extensions for it.
2 years ago we got 3 inches of wet snow that turned into rain on top of it and then the temps plummeted and everything froze. Trying to break through that stuff was nearly impossible with a straight blade. You couldn't blow it or shovel it either. It took days to get it all cleaned up. Horrible. I figured a V would probably break right through it and have since leaned towards getting one even though I don't need the V configuration for drifts or deep snow where I'm typically plowing.
I have the snowex version that's 9'6" and I do have wings. I measured it with it in straight blade and it's 11'6". Sure moves a ton of snow but I try to plow at night only due to how wide that plow is when traveling down the road.
@@joshuariggelsen6224 Sno Way has a new 8.5ft V with hydraulic wings that fold back. Their down pressure system can follow the terrain as well. Not sure what kind of reputation they have though.
The Western model you have doesn't form a true straight edge, so it loses some snow off the side which a true straight edge wouldn't. As a true straight edge, it can plow deeper snow before spilling over. The truck with the Western was also carrying the back plow, so that causes more fuel consumption and wear on the trannie. Will the 14 ft live up to the 'abuse' of plowing? (It's built much lighter, which usually means weaker!) Does it actually push a greater volume of snow? If so, won't that be harder on the trannie than having just the Western or will the extra weight of the Western long term equal this out? Point is, without a long term (1 season?) study, noone can really say which is better.
This video is SUPER helpful for my decision making with regard to a Sno power f-14. I currently run an 8’ 6” v and do you have rough dimensions of the property/race ‘area’ I’m just wondering about sqft/hr for the f-14 with that snowfall. I just plowed a place with that same type of snow and it took me 3 1/2 times longer to get the job done because of the volume.
Heavy snow is heavy snow (amount of snow) but when I switched from a v blade to even a Fisher XLS the time savings was noticeable and now I run a Western Wideout XL (8'6-11') and that is a huge time saver over any v blade
I would 100% no doubt put my sno-way rvhd plow against the f14. My sno-way is a 10ft v-plow with 1ft independant wings on both sides for a total of 12ft fully extended. Its basically a v-plow/push box. Im able to wind row waaay better than the f-14 and i have wings like the f-14 to capture snow with less cleanup. I'd love to put mine against the f-14. I'm half tempted to contact brians lawn maintenance to see if he'd like to do a video on the comparison of the 2 plows.
That plow should not be a trannny killer if you have good snow tires and about 1,000 lbs of weight in the back. It's the spinning tires that kills u joints, rear ends, and transmissions. If you can keep the rubber grabbing, you stay more efficient, and save a bit of fuel as well.
I think a better comparison would be the F-15 to a western wide out. The f-14 would be great if you could angle it. Maybe a hiniker scoop plow could be added in the comparison. To me the only advantage the v plow has is when cutting through deep snow in a first pass
One thing to keep in mind, these truck side mounts were not designed for 12-14’ of snow plow. You are asking a lot of a mounting system that was never field tested with that plow
Great videos. My honest opinion is that the f 14 is way faster than a vplow. I'm really liking the f14. I would like to see more videos. I think I would buy the f14. Only thing I wonder about is how it would do in deep snow. Vplow may have the advantage in deep snow. I'm thinking the f14 would struggle in deep snow. Pushing deep snow with a wide plow like that would be hard on the truck. 🤔
Those would be nice for lots in town but out in the country or edge of town, a v plow is almost a necessity for the big snow, deep and hard drifts in lots and roads. Out in ol southwest mn anyway
Hi Stan I have a 8 foot Western I Angel it on a 45 Degree's So it won't Over Heat and Drive No More than 50 MPH Doesn't That Over Heat with that Square How does it Breath I do like the idea of getting As Much Snow Plowed in a Short Amount of time and Less Man Power and Trucks Needed 👍
Hi Stan I just think As the Truck Plows Forward As Alex Backs Up He could drop the Back Up He can be Cleaning the Parking lot that Much Faster than Running Over the Snow and Packing it down creating ice Spots
Agreed on the counter balance. Should be some information about that in the manual. Looks like you have no weight on your rear axle running on that hiway. Seems like an accident waiting to happen, having no traction at the rear is going to fishtail the truck. Fuel tank isn’t working as counter balance either; probably adding more weight to the front axle. First thing to go is going to be ball joints.
Hey Stan the videos are awesome, I will be moving to Minneapolis in a month but what tire would you recommend I get to for my truck [2017 tacoma], I figured ask the best to give me the best chance of stayin out of a snow bank

I have seen alot of love going toward these plows! Well deserved it appears! I wish we could see some of these around me, but i dont think we have a dealer close. I hope you are doing well stan! That ~5 inches of snow we were supposed to get today was all of 1 inch of rain... Whomp Whomp.
I didn’t see either one of them shaking their plows off after going into the pile. Is there a reason for that? I always do so I don’t have spots to clean up from me just dropping the plow. Just curious on if it’s hard on the plow or just not experienced
Sno power vs sno power. F14 vs 16 back blade. But push snow with back blade is more effective and efficient then pulling with the back blade. Pushing eliminate steps compared to pulling with back blade
Weather guard makes the tool boxes
Weather tech makes the floor mats.
And yes weather guard are great boxes, however, very costly.
It comes down to a choice in plows. The new plow just out preformed the V-plow by its design & the way it can move the snow.
Also the type and areas that are plowed
Open lots the F 12 and F 14 are great. Tighter lots and driveways less so if not impossible
I would not care which one I get; I'll just be happy to have a pain-free back and not sweat hard and even to have a whole driveway clear and not just part of it

I would be scared driving 65 mph with that thing dangling 4 inchs off the ground, how much does that 1000 pds plow weigh….😅
Maybe someone caught it already, Weatherguard makes the toolboxes, Weathertech makes the floormats and mudflaps
In MN, you need a permit to have any plow over 8'6. DOT regulations
How would the 14ft do in a place “UP of MI” where we’re consistently seem to be plowing more than 4-6”? Would it win with a foot or more?
Hi Stan I have a 8 foot Western I Angel it on a 45 Degree's So it won't Over Heat and Drive No More than 50 MPH Doesn't That Over Heat with that Square How does it Breath I do like the idea of getting As Much Snow Plowed in a Short Amount of time and Less Man Power and Trucks Needed 👍
Beast of a plow! Wish it Angled
Sweet I love plowing videos
Hey Stan the videos are awesome, I will be moving to Minneapolis in a month but what tire would you recommend I get to for my truck [2017 tacoma], I figured ask the best to give me the best chance of stayin out of a snow bank
I just purchased an f14. Used it twice and broke down twice. Having buyers remorse.
here to help
I'd say forget the windrowing with the f14 & just scoop it all then make cleanup passes afterwards
Do the wings on the 14ft plow. Come forward to make a 90 , a box?
On one of your videos you mentioned a cutting edge you guys like what was it I can’t find the statement?
I would like to see the comparison between the wideout XL and the f14 with the same operator
Snow power doesn’t seem to windrow the best or stack the greatest either
Nice video boss ! ✅💪
Thought you already were running the F12 on the Dodge?
I love the dbz screen saver. The best part of the video is if you ask me !!!
Stanley do you put the telgren overload springs on the front end of your plow trucks I think I spelled that right we or I put them on two of our five plow trucks we run a combination of fisher xvt and boss v plows all 9’ 2” v’s and rest are8 and 9straights we do parking lots 14 convient stores and a lot of homes a lot of driving in between customers and terrible frost heaved and pot holes upstate Ny roads which I got sick of changing broken springs on the trucks with leaf springs on front so my spring guy installed the rubber springs for free if I liked them I put them on all my trucks well I really liked them so all my trucks with plows have them and what a difference cut out the big bounces that bottom out and break my leafs my salt truck a F550 4x4 Mason dump with a live floor like state trucks with spinner attachment behind cab that has them on both ends and I removed air springs in the back who new chunks of molded rubber could fix so many issues
I wish you would do more on the F 14 cause I have to outfit my truck my new truck that I’m getting for a great price cause ford can’t sell 90000 dollar work trucks it’s definitely a buyers market been watching your plow review vids and rewatching go out and rewatching some more when I come in thanks Stan Mr Dirt Monkey not many creators do things or vids like you I know they’re lots of work and time consuming once again thank you
SIZE MATTERS. Now let's see how long it lasts and is it really a transmission killer?
Just wondering, is there a reason why no added rear blade for also plowing in reverse? Seems like a wasted opportunity, take care
I have seen alot of love going toward these plows! Well deserved it appears! I wish we could see some of these around me, but i dont think we have a dealer close. I hope you are doing well stan! That ~5 inches of snow we were supposed to get today was all of 1 inch of rain... Whomp Whomp.
Following Alex today after lunch, look like a freashy on the back bumper, whoops
Why was he plowing in the v position? Mine is almost always in scoop, semi scoop or angled, only use any kind of v position for breaking only.
Currently I’m the snow plow and truck. Starting to wear out.
I didn’t see either one of them shaking their plows off after going into the pile. Is there a reason for that? I always do so I don’t have spots to clean up from me just dropping the plow. Just curious on if it’s hard on the plow or just not experienced
I’ve been tap cleaning my Western V plow for 9 years with no issue.
Sno power vs sno power. F14 vs 16 back blade. But push snow with back blade is more effective and efficient then pulling with the back blade. Pushing eliminate steps compared to pulling with back blade
I put my money on anything that makes it through a complete plow without breakdowns. Time is money.
What kind of tires do you use?
Do a versus comparison between the f14 and the 16 back plow
My not use a Western Wide Out XL?
Is is obvious, size does matter!
