Randall is probably the only solid state amp I like for recording high gain. It has a certain bite and punch without the thin sounds. The pedal sounds sick!
1st: I LOVE the shirt! :) 2nd: Thank You for the detailed behind stories and great, articulate infos and specs! They really sounded identical. My main question would be, how would You use it live? For rhytms as well as leads? I didn't feel that much chunk in it, do You think it may be the lack of 6 band EQ in front? And YEAH, it would be nice to hear it in another video with boost pedals, delays etc, as You mentioned! Thanks again the video bro!
Thank you brother! I'd use it live into a SD Powerstage and a cab. Also definitely would use a boost or EQ in front of it to push it over the edge like dime did. Working on something regarding the later so stay tuned ;)
I just ordered the vulgar pedal, the ME PS3 clone, MXR 6 band, and a noise suppressor. Would love to see a pedal board setup to get some ideas for when it all arrives in 4-6 weeks. Thanks for these vids eric. Keep em comin!
Noticed via this pedal that the Dime tone is not that far different from Van Halen. It's like they were all trying to get a certain sound where the mids would just sing and sustain without being harsh
Hopefully you found a good IR in the 10 months since commenting, but for anyone else wondering the same, I love Ola England's DIMED IR's from his website.
I've got a question , I'm a beginning learner. In case I want to add this pedal to my combo (i've got a peavey rage 158), should I turn the clean channel in my amp and then use only the pedal to control distortion and eq ?
I think that would be really cool. Rex used ampeg amps and those are readily available though, unlike these old Randall amps. Also Rex has his JST Toneforge plugin as well.
I guess this ìs a matter of personal taste. I don't think it sounds like ol Dime used to at all. Very AM radio sounding. Maybe it sounds better in person.
i used to have a cheap Chinese pedal worth $25 that as far as i know sounds identical or almost to Vulgar and that RG100. i wasnt a pantera fan before so i throw it away. damn i regret it so much!!!!

@@EricMorettin Great, looking fwd to watching & hearing that one ;)

Nice! I definitely want to get a pedal rig going one day but all the pieces of the rig must be made first. Thanks!

The Abbott brothers loved Van Halen and Dime was also inspired by them for not tuning to A440
Yeah, a pedalboard-based Dimebag rig would be interesting
I think it's very doable
hey, where can i find the IR for a jaguar cabinet?

@@buddyhimself good one, thank you
Yeah, I think I'll stick with a $200 pedal vs an almost $2,000 head. Great comparison 👍🏼
Thanks! I wish this pedal had a second channel to then really rival the head
@@EricMorettin Why you mean this? :)
@@EricMorettin you have my attention ;)
I saw one on Reverb for 900 something
@@chosenone2964 if it's USD then it's way more in CAD or before shipping in general.
The Boss Metal Zone remains my favorite stompbox.
Those are amazing infront of a rectifier
@Eric Morettin you should do a comparison of the metalzone as a boost in front of a rectifier and as full distortion in the effects loop
@@EricMorettin i put it at the rear tire to prevent my car from moving back or front😁

You should run it into the effects loop or MP3 in if it has either
@@EricMorettin thanks
I think the Amps a little spankier, we used what we had. Its nostalgia at this point
Yeah the amp has more range, but keep in mind that we're comparing a distortion pedal to a full amo head.
I know your dimebag mostly. But is anyone making pedals to sound like Rex.

Super 300 is an svt in a box.
Rex probably plugs into a Tech-21
dp -3 to sound like dUg Pinnick 😎

They sound pretty close in person. I recommend you grab one and try for yourself

dude! do you remember the brand name and model?
Great video but doesn’t sound like a Randall
Sorry, doesn't sound close to me....
Ok
Sounds terrible
Sound's like a pile of crap in a box trying to cash in in Dimes tone.
I have his Randall RG100ES 10x4 combo amp. No pedal could match it.
