I've met all of PanterA except Dime. Vinnie was a really cool guy. Those guys got to live the dream that any musician would dream of. The 90s was the last great decade for music.

It really was the end of an era. It's so vastly different than the music business of today because there is virtually no music business today. It's all self-made, self-contained, streamed, often times free. It was the last time you truly had to leave your house and go pick up new music to experience it as opposed to coming to you.

I recently saw Pantera again. It was really cool to see the songs live again, but it's not the same with all the barriers, seating, rules, cell phones, etc. It was so sterile in the crowd compared to the 80's and 90's. cheers

Sterling said it. The overriding concern for Pantera was each record had to be heavier than the last. They were a metal band and were proud of it. No other metal band can say that. That’s why the dropped tuning was utilized. It was simply heavier.

You guys are beyond blessed to have got to spend time with the legendary Dimebag Darrell Abbott. He is my favorite guitarist still to this day. In 2010, I play guitar also. My Fiance said he was going to buy me the Dean Dimebag razorback Cemetery Gates signature guitar for Christmas that year. He even taped a picture of it on my bedroom closet door. I was so excited! Unfortunately, he passed away on December 4th. I was devastated. Just last year, I started looking for one in Reverb. Every one I found was either all jacked up or in another country. Finally, I found one in mint condition, from Texas. They Dimeized it up. I was on the phone with my brother, who lent me the money. I sent him the link and I was talking to him, when I saw it was Sold. I said, we should have jumped on that. Here, it was my brother who bought it for me. Oddly, he was not home when the delivery guy came. He left his phone # tho. My brother called him and he said he was one street over. He brought it to my brothers house. It was delivered on December 4th!!!!!! Crazy huh! He brought it to me and it is perfect! I couldn't believe how beautiful it is. It's like a memorial to Dime and it's a beautiful piece of usable art. I ❤️ this guitar. Thanks for sharing these stories. Dime will live on forever with his amazing playing. There is no one like him. He was like animated. His stage presence was awesome.

Hung with Dime many times during Far Beyond touring with Sepultura. The most authentic, down to earth man. Vinny, not so much, but Dime and Phil were always cool as fuck.

A tried and true Metal god' is what Dime and his Brother Vinnie are, I.M.O. Id say they were the true, real life Blues Brothers of Metal influence with ZZ Top, Kiss, Black Sabbath, Slayer, and (Thrash era )Metallica, Moterhead, Megadeth and especially Anthrax, They left there mark on the world to enjoy and influence us in many ways.

When somebody was sticking their finger in their ear itching it or whatever you do when you stick you finger in your ear. Dime called it "workin the three". He also would refer to having the feeling someone is talking about you as three also. When he use to do solos, they would bring out a giant plaster of paris 3 and hands pointing a single finger and stick them in his ears as he was soloing.
