Love this video... a masterpiece of an album. Damn I wish Dime and Vinnie were still here to continue making their metal for the masses. I miss what their music may have become.
I kind of feel bad about givin this video a like because it had 333 likes and now its 334. DimeTime is over, but it'll come back, so what Good video dude
I'll tell you what I've listened to a lot of those "glam metal" albums that Pantera did before cowboys from hell and those are some good f****** albums
Agreed - and hopefully I didn't come across like I was taking away from any of that. Their formative stuff is fascinating on its own. I really like the way it culminated on cowboys - because they really stepped it up, but there were still shreds of their glam days in there which made the album so damn interesting to listen to.
@@guitarmeetsscience oh no, not at all! I was just mentioning it just because a lot of people don't. And I honestly wish they would have embraced it more when they were all still together. I know it wasn't their first record but cowboys from hell is literally to me on the level of like Black Sabbath, Blizzard of ozz or appetite for destruction and I guess meaning if you want to consider cowboys from hell like they're true debut album. It's just really A perfect album. But no you didn't take away from any of that because I honestly had never heard a lot of those early albums until several years ago and I listen to a few of those songs it was like what the hell why don't they ever play some of these songs live even if they did them a little more of what we know them as
I heard Walk on Headbanger’s Ball in 92 or 93 and it was the only song in my head for months until I later heard Cowboys From Hell. I immediately bought the album and my world was again just completely changed when I heard Domination. Later in college when I took the history of rock music and the instructor spoke about how people’s minds were blown when they heard Sgt. Peppers, I was able to relate and understand what he meant when I thought back to when I first heard these songs from Pantera. Years later when Trendkill came out it did it for me again and opened me up to much heavier stuff.
All right on - you got into the good stuff! Domination is a killer track, and of course Trendkill is an album that stands on its own. I agree with you - work like this stands right along some of the great stuff like Sgt pepper in its own right. It helped push music along.
For me this album is easily their best! Great production, heavy but still melodic in places, very catchy riffs, amazing Halford like screams by Phil! He never sounded like that again. Mostly his beloved growls. Not my thing.
Oh yeah - he had already dialed back his insane screams he was doing at the end of cemetery Gates by the time they were playing it out live. Of course it was awfully demanding for his voice, so I think he had to find a good pace in order to be able to sustain himself. He really put himself out on the line during the recording of this one. A perfect snapshot in time.
@@guitarmeetsscience Yes you are right. Thank you for making these super interesting videos! So many bands to cover 😁. How about my favorite band: Judas Priest? Or Black Sabbath? I also love some "hair bands" like Dokken and Skid Row. Anyways have a good weekend! Cheers!
@mrmaxaxl thank you! You listed some good ones there. My bucket list has most if not all of them. So somewhere in there these groups will find themselves covered haha. Definitely some great suggestions I really appreciate it! Have a great weekend 🤘🤘
That's when music got real for the most part. Great on all fronts - metal of course, rock, Even the pop and the hip hop were pretty damn good back then
Yes!! Absolutely right! He was a big EVH fan, and it was so cool of Eddie to have one of his guitars buried with dime. I've always been fascinated with their brilliant use of symmetrical patterns.
~~Domination was Dime's favorite too. ~~Speaking of Dallas, though I live in Omaha. Buddy&I happened to see what ended up being their last hometown performance.
Yeah, I like your descriptive narrations how maybe ya might say the key or that it sound real haunting or maybe the scale the solo is in. It just tells me ya know yer shit! Cuz I don’t know shit!🤣 It makes me wanna learn the solos since I suck at um. But it’s not to bad if I’m writing my own solo…….🤘🏼 ✌🏼
Thanks man! I love how dime twisted theory. He would just grab a pattern that fit well together on the strings and just run it up, EVH did that too - and it worked. Way back when I got really deep into Troy Stetina "heavy metal lead guitar volume 2".... I seriously think that is the best explanation of music theory that there is. It's very underrated, and I don't even know if it's actually on the market anymore, but man nobody breaks it down the way he did in that book and cassette set. Thanks for the kind words bro I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I will also try to get a bit more theory into the discussion as well - there is always so much fun stuff to explore in those solos especially. 🤘🤘
This record really was a kick in the butt. The 90’s wouldnt have been the same without this groove
Pantera’s sonic aggressiveness awakened a primeval savagery within you that made you wanna fuck or fight.
Hahaha perfect description man!! 🤘🤣🤘

Thank you so much! Dime and Vinny were a hell of a team together. Truly an awesome snapshot in time for sure.
Hearing the intro in 7th grade during a fight in a buddies backyard! I was immediately and forever hooked and never looked back 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great informative video again. Thank you, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much I appreciate that!
After watching this video, I MUST get my Cowboys from Hell album fix! Getcha Pull! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Right on man!!! Crank it to 11 🤘🤘
Cowboys from hell was a perfect album in my opinion
Truly Burns from start to finish!!!

Some of those early albums remind me more of Priest than some of those L.A. hair metal acts of the time.
I still really like the album Power Metal

The reason I play ❤ thank you for covering CFH
Right on man!!! They are a great inspiration! Thank you kindly I'm glad you enjoyed it 🤘🤘
Yeahhhh Pantera nice, they are monsters 🤘🔥, 90’s metal is awesome we had groove and power.
Absolutely right - it was that groove that really set them apart.... It made it heavier 🤘🤘
@@guitarmeetsscience exactly I really like the black ablum too I don’t get why people hate on it.
Damn right..thanks so much man🤘🤘🤘 hey I'm not just messing around when I say nobody does these up with nearly as much heart and feeling as you do

Yeah man, perfect blend of their glam-beauty and the heaviest groove in music history.
CFH=Pure perfection
The 90s had all the best music..Nothing will ever compare to that decade.
There was also alot of trash

There are photos of Dime and Vinny hanging out at their house back in 1984. One is Dime and James. James is playing the Dimebolt.
Oh yeah - they must have had a blast together when they played monsters of Rock!
@guitarmeetsscience judging by James's appearance, it had to be 1983-1984
Cool story king 🙏
CFH my favorite Pantera album.
That is one badass album
