I was out of Xbox for 10 years, switched to Playstation. Have a PS5, but got a Series X with GP Ultimate, a year ago. Loving it to be honest. Best of both world's kinda thing.
Of course, Xbox has a superb ecosystem with very good exclusive games, better service thanks to the gamepass, greater diversity of games. It's very good to have the 2 platforms but I had to keep only one. I will without hesitation keep Xbox instead of the PS5 for many reasons. This video saying is just clicbait, of course Xbox is not dead! They've never even been stronger in terms of games and services, and the games that are coming show that Xbox continues to assert itself. This PlayStation generation is objectively the worst we've ever had, with very few exclusive games, practically only remasters or sequels, no new IP for years apart from flops like Concord, a disastrous turn towards gaming services, absurd price increases in all sectors, even publishers are moving away from more and more PlayStation like Square Enix. In fact, if this RUclipsr looked things in the face instead of only looking at the sale of plastic boxes, he would see that it is PlayStation that is in difficulty today. Playstation is not dead but its future clearly smells musty.
My main console is PS5 but I am considering buying Xbox X for Flight Simulator 2024. Much more affordable than buying a full blown PC just for one game.
That's why Xbox needs to come out with more first party games that are compelling. People buy consoles for the games. If a console has a very popular games that no other platform has, people will buy into that particular platform. Phil Spencer constantly talked about all the studios they bought for this generation and all the games they would release - and 4 years later, those games have just not materialized(or the ones that were released have been underwhelming).
@@davidleon4459 Pretty sure someone who invested hundreds into a console already probably doesn't find the cloud experience to be good enough. @@davidleon4459 I mean, it's an option, but it depends on what cloud service you use. Xcloud is still rather underwhelming and not great. GeForce Now is definitely the best one, but it's a bit pricy. @@FWayfindersuch a low IQ reply, anybody with an ounce of brain can see how if Xbox leaves the console market the consumer of even PlayStations would suffer. PlayStation is already charging $700 for a no disk drive console realizing the competition isn’t much
Nothing is stopping Sony from doing that now. Xbox is a rabid dog nobody wants to buy. PS5 could have costed $1000 and it would have still outsold Xbox 3-1.
I’ve always been an PlayStation fan, I remember my parents buying me the PlayStation 1 and final fantasy 7 when it first released, I remember it had about 3 or 4 disc’s. Brilliant game. I’ve always said PlayStation beats Xbox hands down with miles better exclusive’s. I play all my games on PS5 now. I only bought an Xbox Series X just for Microsoft Flight Simulator and Red Dead Redemption 2 that’s it.

Since PS3 I always had a powerful computer at home since I'm a 3D designer but for past 2 gens of consoles there's no advantage to buy an Xbox. I'd rather get an PS and play Microsoft exclusives on PC.
As a pc user and xbox series x owner. I do benefit from the ultimate game pass and tend to use more on the pc tbh. In hindsight, I wouldn't have bothered with the xbox itself. Just no usp. It might be powerful, but it's like having a ferrari on your drive, but no decent roads to cruise on.
@@weplayvrgames They have no choice but to compete with them. Valve poses the biggest threat to their vital Windows stronghold (gaming), due to their development/promotion of linux gaming.
I’m a huge Playstation fan, but this video reeks of Playstation fanboyism. You conveniently avoid talking about any of the grotesque mistakes Sony has made recently. I have a PS5 and an Xbox series X and game pass ultimate is one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. I agree with Microsoft, skipping a mid general refresh, and going right to the next generation, which they are likely to do before Sony does.
GamePass Ultimate is a tough one for me. On the rare occasion that Xbox puts out a first part title, it's nice to have, however this last year it's gone up in price, kept 80% of the same catalogue for 4 years, and had like 3 releases. $20/month for it is kinda insane tbh.
This generation of the Xbox has just been underwhelming. Had a Series X since launch (luckily) and kept waiting and waiting and waiting for good games. Traded it in for a PS5.
@@Hello-World-xhe could also play Astro Bot, Helldivers 2, and Silent Hill 2 and just wait for Stalker 2 to come to PS5 and look and run better on Pro next year.
I just really don’t understand what Xbox is doing right now. I was a big fan of the Xbox One X and completely bought into the Series X/S generation with the promise of power and tons of games that they were working on. They bought tons of studios and we were going to see games left and right - and 4 years later, we’ve seen next to nothing. I’m not saying Sony is knocking it out of the park when it comes to games, but it just seems like they are keeping the ship steady, which is much better in contrast to Xbox. I’ve sold my Xbox, built a PC, and bought a PS5 for console stuff. It’s just hard to see the Xbox as a console platform that’s very compelling for the future. Unless they start fulfilling the promise of releasing games, I think the Xbox has another generation left at best before it becomes a software publisher and all in on PC Microsoft gaming. The Xbox really does need someone to come in there and kick some butt to turn things around.
Great video, this man is 99% spot on, the only thing not mentioned which they need to do and they especially should do now with a ton of studios under Xbox game studios is exclusives… they finally have a good skate of games ahead then they go full third party for the short term gains to claw back the money they have spent on studio acquisitions instead of getting aggressive like they did in the 360 era and have a bunch of only on Xbox console exclusives ! They can say what they like but exclusives shift hardware… that’s exactly what Nintendo and Sony have been doing and succeeding!
Well, if you consider that a decent VGA, like the 4070Ti still costs £770... and that's just the VGA. You still need to buy the rest of the PC, which is at least another £700... You spent £1500 for a gaming PC and the XSX is £400.
@@coderkind Well, I wouldn't say 'fraction', maybe £10 cheaper sometimes, but that's true you can get games from ...alternative sources... on PC easier.
Give me a reason to get a pc, too much work and fidgeting to get things working not to mention not everyone uses a computer regularly I haven’t used one in 15 years
Sold my Xbox and bought a PC, there literally no point in owning a Xbox. You’re just going to be getting the same games at launch, but a worse version. There’s always sales on steam games.
I’m planning to buy a used Xbox Series S for my girlfriend and me. Prices range between €160 and €200, which I think is fair. I’m primarily a PC gamer and will continue playing AAA titles on my gaming PC, but I still want to enjoy some co-op games on the Xbox. Even though PC Game Pass exists, most co-op games just aren’t playable in co-op mode on PC.
You can also emulate most games on PC. Xwine1 is an upcoming compatibility layer that will let you play Xbox One games on normal Windows, and PS4 emulation is improving rapidly.
Console exclusivity is an antiquated business model. Microsoft is right and Sony will follow suit within a few years. The console warrior nonsense can’t die fast enough.
@@tougeruzbayActually, if console exclusivity dies then for the causal PC loses a real incentive. It’s only advantage would mods and the “mystique” of PC gaming
I'd been getting Xboxes for several generations, but this time round I went with Playstation. When I looked at exclusives, the PS5 just had a much better line-up, for me. On top of that, the Xbox exclusives which did interest me could all be played on my PC, so there was no point buying an Xbox. I wonder if the best thing they could do is add Steam support, and position the Xbox as being both a current-gen console AND a cheap replacement for gaming PCs (maybe not top-end ones, not sure)?.
They could probably do extremely well as a third party software-only developer. I don't think they should bother with handheld, unless they break-even or can off-set losses well against software sales like Valve. Switch 2 will already be fierce enough competition in that space.
I skipped Xbox One but I did buy a launch Series X and I enjoy it lots but I don’t plan on buying the next Xbox as I don’t do cloud based or subscription services at all.
Yes. Xbox as a console is dead, but they invested a TON on game publishing, so I expect they will be around for a while as game publishers. And no, it is not good for consumers that xbox retires from the console space, but what can you do if they simply and utterly refused to compete. Spencer said like a decade ago that he wished MS had a franchise like Uncharted in their stable, yet they never invested what was needed in order to build one.
It's just ridiculously under promoted. The functionality of being able to play on virtually any screen in your household that can access the internet, via the Xbox app, is I suspect virtually unknown to many. Xbox series S price cut and a dockable handheld with Series S level power would make them seriously competitive.
Xbox made the right move. We don’t need a mid refresh this time. As for exclusives on hardware. I’m not a big fan of it, but I think that’s just going away altogether with the exception of Nintendo.
Maybe but they also made the wrong move making an underpowered console at launch and focusing on an anti consumer rental service as well as littering they UI with ads , and this is why I would never touch an Xbox
I have an Xbox Series S simply because I don't like having, only, a PS5 for my TV. I like to have at least two OS, two options, two platforms for TV games and videos
Yeah, they dead. Unbelievable how they killed a brand that came up with the 360 and then redeemed the initial fiasco with the One... Someone should teach this in business school as an example of "how to squander a brand and a reputation that you worked so hard to build from nothing." Sad 😞
Ive always been a playstion gamer, and swore id never by an xbox...but i did, that new white one you featured, i bought it solely to play msfs...and to be honest im perfectly happy with it, its visuals are gorgeous and im having a fantastic experience, so ok its not cheap, but neither is a pc which was the only other option. So yes it has a long future in my household.
I've had my Series X since launch and have never bought a game for it. Had Gamepass for a while and played the first party stuff...I let that subscription expire over a year ago and I don't think I've turned the console on since. Xbox peaked with the 360. What a machine that was!
I see MS dropping the Xbox as a brand and becoming a games publisher on all other formats. MS have spent ludicrous amounts of money buying studios but this isn't suddenly boosting Xbox sales. As for CoD on game pass, this is going to cost them huge losses. And I also think that not buying games makes you less invested in them, sure you can try a game but I'd love to see the GP stats for games that get downloaded, played for a bit then deleted. By the end of this decade I believe Xbox will be gone and MS Games will be the focus

I don't see a future for xbox. Consoles need two things - great hardware value and compelling exclusive games. Xbox has neither. The last Xbox exclusive I got excited for was Halo:reach. I don't think their decision to go all-in on Gamepass is a wise one. I’ve had a series S for nearly three years, with Gamepass, and as a casual gamer it has been fine. Last six months though, there have been no new titles making it a bit stale, and it’s gone up in price significantly compared to when it started. If I were buying a console now, undoubtedly it would be a PS5; if you’re a casual gamer & can get a cheap series S second hand, there’s enough to keep you amused for a bit yet
What reason is there to purchase an Xbox? I've been playing Silent Hill 2, Wukong, Astro Bot, Space Marine 2, Sparking Zero on my PS5. I can play upcoming games from Microsoft like Black Ops 6, Doom and Indiana Jones on my PS5. Starfield ended up being a total disaster. There's just no reason to buy an Xbox. It's a redundant console.
The Xbox series x is literally more powerful than the ps5, has a better cooling solution, objectively higher build quality and costs less... So how exactly is it not competitive price wise with the ps5, it's literally the other way around. Disclaimer, I own both and care for neither of the devices, but this argument seemed unreasonable to me.
how do you judge "build quality" with a console? Neither console has any significant failure point like the 360 RROD thus far. Unlike the Switch, most people don't constant move a home console to different locations, so it really doesn't matter if the materials used for the casing are cheap or premium.
I still prefer my Series X over my PS5. I'm not interested in alot of Sonys Japanese 1st Party games and the amount of value i've gotten out of GamePass is unreal. Also being able to play 6th and 7th gen games with FPS boost and resolution bumps is great. Also quick resume is a proper next gen feature and I wish Sony had a PS5 version of it
I'm enjoying my Xbox series s to play with my family and chill in the living room, and i got my pc to play high end games.. I find the series s absolutely adorable and it always impresses with its size and performance 😄👌
Slim models are a good way to keep your audience knowing you're actively improving the ecosystem and obviously new products are key to marketing. I don't think we needed here, though.
I knew Xbox was in trouble once I heard about the Series S. There was massive amounts of cope initially, but many developers have confirmed it, the Series S let all the air out of Xbox's tires this generation. Should have been Series X only, could have just done a few promotions, storage options, colors and such, with that. Lets see next generation. I hope Microsoft will try again, the market needs Xbox.
I kinda regret going with xbox one last gen but at this point im not switching to playstation and giving up my entire digital library moving forward with my console. Still havent bought a series x but thinking about it this holiday. I can play PS exclusives on PC now if i really want to atleast. I will say though I think the PlayStation 5 is hideous in its appearance. If it looked like a normal console id be much more tempted. I love that the series x is just a plain black box.
I’m not spending traditional console prices on a DRM box. Even with the spec, it’s worth £100 tops with that locked down OS and hardware where you don’t own your games anymore.
My Series X and PS5 are basically backwards systems. My Series X has around 6 TB of Xbox and Xbox 360 and a few Game Pass and Xbox One games, my PS5 has the Dark Souls remake and a bunch of PS4 games, along with the old classic games via PS Plus. If I want to play a game that's available on PC, I play it on PC. These consoles do a great job at what I use them for and I'm happy with that, although I would love more expansion options on both of them. The PS5 has a 4TB SSD and that's it, the XBox has a 2TB storage expansion and a 4TB SATA SSD in an adapter box that dangles around unelegantly.
Have Xbox, PS5 and PC. Which have I spent more time on? Xbox. Game pass is great in my opinion. On the PS5, there has been nothing I’ve really wanted to play in about a year.
Gamepass is the death of vote with your wallet , stop being so gullible , just praising an anti consumer rental service makes ya all look foolish to anyone with a few braincells
Honestly, stopped gaming around 2020 when I bought my PS5. I was getting tired of all the micro transactions in games and FTP games that only use Battle Royale as a game mode. Didn’t know Playstation hit it off since then and how much the Xbox fell off.
PS5 games and peripherals aren’t really making me jump the gun to buy it. I’m mainly a PC gamer, and I just usually play old games and mod them, being able to emulate, and do so much more. Although the multiplayer side kinda sucks with cheaters galore. I do own a Series S, and my bud has gamepass, and I share it with him, so I’m able to play some games that I don’t own on PC and don’t feel like purchasing, so that is pretty cool. So Xbox isn’t really dead to me, although the only thing that is holding it back is just the hardware, but at that point I would just switch to my PC.
I got an Xbox Series X in 2020, 3 months after launch. I've been enjoying it very much, but I feel that there's nothing on Xbox that I can't get on other platforms. That's why I decided to keep my XSX to the end of this generation but as soon as the new gen is on I'll be switching to a PS6 or PC.
I have a series x. I like it. Also you said that the ps5 and the series x have the same power but that's not true. On paper the xbox is more powerful than the base ps5. I feel like I made the right choice. I had a ps4 last gen and I really didn't like the exclusives games.
I am a PC gamer, and have an X-box series X as its cool with the game pass being on both, I think that eco system is pretty good, the XSX is a marvel of design in my opinion, but that said I like having the choice of PS and Xbox and hope they both stay strong, also Minecraft is best on PC and Xbox
The Xbox series s is only $249.99 USD and supports 120 fps and has 10g of Ram. The PS5 Slim costs $449.99-$489.99 USD support 120 fps and has 16g of ram. You’re essentially paying over $200 for 6g of ram. I’d say Xbox is clearly undercutting the slim. The Xbox series X digital also costs the same as the slim USD. Your prices where you live are very clearly different you should take that into account during your review.
That's true. It's not in terms that we're used to though (console and game sales, exclusives etc). Game Pass makes it harder to know level of financial success overall
It’s funny how everyone is going crazy over the PS5 Pro, while Xbox came out with a 2TB version for $599. With the PS5 Pro, you’re not only getting 2TB of storage, but also a hardware boost for $699. Why would anyone pay $50 less for a Series X without a disc drive? You could just get a used one for $400 or less on eBay or other sites. Not only do you save $100 or more, but you also keep the disc drive, even if you don’t use it. It’s just better to have the option.
I must say this last generation of consoles apart from the switch have been underwhelming, especially with the lack of games produced and the endless waits for new releases
What a bunch of bs. Yet you bought them I see. The ps5 is gigantic compared to the xbox, its not smaller. Typical sony fanboy lies. This is ridiculous. I would bet your 1.5 million followers is fake too.
I'm currently on the Xbox One X and I never brought a single physical copy since I got it. So yeah the digital Series X is the ideal upgrade for me I'm glade that I waited this long lol.
Of course it's not the end of Xbox. They already stated they are working on a traditional next gen console. They make tons of money from gamepass, they put an X amount of money and get 5X in return from gamepass as far as I know. Series X is a fantastic device if you don't want to play games on PC for some reason. I have reasons so I don't for example. I have both consoles. Never used PS5 except for a few exclusives.

You know you can play Flight Simulator via cloud. Right?
@@davidleon4459 Pretty sure someone who invested hundreds into a console already probably doesn't find the cloud experience to be good enough.

The Xbox Series X is still a great console; the relevant question is whether high-cost consoles make as much sense anymore in light of PCs.
Well, if you consider that a decent VGA, like the 4070Ti still costs £770... and that's just the VGA. You still need to buy the rest of the PC, which is at least another £700... You spent £1500 for a gaming PC and the XSX is £400.

No the market needs Xbox to go away so Steam can pickup the pieces and give us the console everyone is waiting for.

Is the Xbox series x better than the ps5
As someone who owns both, yeah.
As someone who owns both, hell no.

Honestly, stopped gaming around 2020 when I bought my PS5. I was getting tired of all the micro transactions in games and FTP games that only use Battle Royale as a game mode. Didn’t know Playstation hit it off since then and how much the Xbox fell off.
so If i don't have gaming PC, should I buy xbox series X or ps5 slim?
ps5 pro if u can afford it or else ps5 slim.

Not only do you save $100 or more, but you also keep the disc drive, even if you don’t use it. It’s just better to have the option.
I must say this last generation of consoles apart from the switch have been underwhelming, especially with the lack of games produced and the endless waits for new releases
When all gaming consoles are PC's you need either price, catalogue, or performance/niche
What a bunch of bs. Yet you bought them I see. The ps5 is gigantic compared to the xbox, its not smaller. Typical sony fanboy lies. This is ridiculous. I would bet your 1.5 million followers is fake too.
Vould you do a battery test with all the "mini" phones?
“Idk why anyone would buy an Xbox”
Because I don’t like PlayStation.
I'd rather buy a handheld. I only play my steam deck now, don't even touch my series x.
@@wrathgor Nice anecdote fanboy. Xbox is still dead
What benefits do people get from owning a PlayStation other then 70 dollars single player game that nobody touch again after beating it
Xbox and Microsoft has more than ever resources, technology and know how to bring a today’s worthy and a very capable mid-gen refresh into the market… but it’s heartbreaking when they choose not to.
